Created a Bat Swarm with one of the Giant Bats from Reaper Bones ( SKu 07058) and a stand of metal bats from a Halloween Set, I believe from Reaper as well but can't find the SKU. Part of my Children of the Night Project. WIP: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79298-children-of-the-night-by-glitterwolf/

We've seen Mole People. We've seen Mouse People. Now, let's meet some Bat People! These are Yogs from Zombiesmith and I love them so much. My players, probably less so. Look at those lumpy, top-heavy armored union suits! Those dainty feet and burly arms! These models are "Yog Skusto," clearly the fellows in charge of fighting and labor. I added some GW Bitz--they did not come with the ring plate on the back or the little reliquaries. But it adds visual interest and I like the juxtaposition of this diving-suit-era technology and elaborate religion. I figure at least one of my sci-fi factions should be strongly influenced by faith and zeal. And especially so in the case of Yog Sagonto here! This one got a lot of bitz added, including about five books, but the seals and scrolls on their cape came with the model. Clearly the intellectual / ambassador / diplomat / prophet type. Needs a grandiose title like "High Proselyte and Exalted Scriptorian Sagonto of the Desmodans." ] Clearly a creature that values the written word. I love the revealed culture in all the little details. Of course they are vampire bats. Alien religions are fun, and B-movies show us that SPACE VAMPIRES are also fun, and the World of Darkness games show us that religious vampires are also fun! So a highly religious species of blood-drinking chiropterans surviving on a geothermally dying planet orbiting a lightless system whose sun collapsed into a black hole ('cause symbolism is fun too) should be pretty rad. Great opportunity for ethical dilemmas, philosophical questions, or just straight-up pew-pew laser fights.

First Reaper minis I've painted! Pretty proud of how the spider turned out! I tried to get an iridescent look on the crow, but I couldn't quite figure it out 😅 Constructive critiques welcome!

This is the bat demon. I didn't want to do a traditional red for this guy but I had a new Averland Sunset paint from GW so I thought I'd find a use for it since it didn't work on the project I bought it for. I did go with red for his hair and fur. I kind of rushed at the end because I tried to do some highlighting on his wings and it went very poorly . So since I had taken so long to decide on his base colour and made a mistake I was in danger of stalling if I tried it again and made another mistake. I guess smooth gradients are still outside of my abilities. I don't like this guy nearly as much as my displacer beast but he's finished so he is going into the display case with the rest of them! Oh and I notice now that he probably needs a coat of matte because the inks in his hair left a bit of a shine.

Howdy, So tiny... Kev!

Another monster for my Dungeons & Dragons games. I used the Olive Skin Triad with a bit of the Dark Skin triad for shadows. I used Army Painter Chaotic Red mixed with skintones for the back of the wings. I used Reaper Clear Yellow on the underside of the wings, Clear Purple in the shadows, and Clear red to do a glaze on the back of the wings. I love the clear paints! They are getting to be about as invaluable to me as Nightshade Purple!

In keeping with the month that hosts Halloween, I painted up some familiars! Very simply done, starting with grey liner, nightmare black (a little extra purple for the cat) and heraldic red for the eyes (cat and raven) & mouth (bat). Drop of linen white for the cat's eyes, and a drop of dragon gold for her forehead. Still need to clean up the bases a bit. Otherwise done!

So, I needed a little distraction from all the Reptiles and Amphibians... This guy just has had a nice comfy soapy bath and a trim with an exacto knife. Now drying and waiting for colours. Need to fill the gap between wings and back with plastic putty ( vallejo)

Next up on the Bones-painting production line is this one, 77261: Bat Demon by Bob Ridolfi. At first I was going to paint him classic devil red, but I went with green in the end to give it a more serpentine look. I don't know why I wanted that; there's nothing very serpentine about the sculpting, but there you are. The heart has its reasons. The wings and elevated position make this figure a bit more imposing than its stature actually warrants. As far as its body goes, it's just very slightly — if at all — larger than the average Reaper bloke.

Just another critter off my desk and on to the display area. these are fun and relatively quick paints and I find myself a lot more willing to experiment with painting styles and other things. This however was just a quick job of a cute but very small critter. Let me know your thoughts and thanks for looking!

Here's an old miniature of a giant bat I've had hanging around for decades, along with a 25mm Ral Partha wizard for scale. I don't know the manufacturer of the bat; I suspect it was GW, but I can't be sure. The wings were monstrously thick, and I had to carve them down substantially just to get a thin edge. Its original base was missing, so I've mounted it on a piece of wire soldered to a steel washer. I wanted to get its wings looking translucent and skin-like, but that proved to be beyond my powers in the time I felt the miniature warranted, and I got "leathery" instead. That's OK, I guess.

So, here's my take on the giant vampire bat from Super Dungeon Explore. Part of me thinks I should have gone with bright green to match Dracula's "True Form" from Symphony of the Night, but for some reason I decided to go with a more subdued color pattern. Here he is.

I told a friend it was either going to be green and diseased, white and albino or classic Dire Bat black. I ended up albino-ish brown, lol. If only Reaper had Dire Bat variants I would totally pick them up. Hope you enjoy. quite a large bat

Put her on a pentagram base for effect. I did my best to repair her face. I think the eyes could use more work but after the fourth try I gave up :( Oh wait. "I meant to do that." Yeah, that's it. <edit: a better color adjusted picture:>
