  1. This is the first large fig that I painted a few weeks ago. I did a matte varnish on it shortly after, but would like to add some highlights at some point. Does paint stick to varnish well or should I just skip the highlights? I was going for a black dragon look, since I've got an adventure planned that features one. I have been practicing with my photo taking, but haven't found a good spot in the house that has decent lighting. Hopefully this one turned out OK without too many distracting elements. As always, I appreciate any advice and critiques. Thank you!
  2. My most ambitious project to date, Narthrax was a fun little challenge for me over the last couple of weeks. My son wanted him to be black, so after I based him in Stormy Grey, I mixed up 3 parts each Adamantine Black and Imperial Purple with a single drop of Pure Black (then repeated it several times!). For the undersides of the wings, I replaced the Imperial Purple with Ruby Red - and did the same for his main back-spikes and horns. I went too far down his tail with the reddened segments and after realizing that it just didn't look right, thought I had successfully covered it up - but from the backside picture, I can see a distinct reddish hue to the top of the upper tail.. I also think I need to touch up the foot-pads and perhaps the trailing-edge bone tips on the wings with - they looked nice with just the Stormy Grey, but the camera is making me second guess that thought..
  3. when I finally got around to priming cinder I realized I was stuck in a chromatic dragon rut. red, green, black, blue, and white, blah, blah, blah. I asked for advice in that forum and someone suggested that I do it in the maleficent black and purple from the animated sleeping beauty. it sounded like a great idea. and I sat down and found the colors I thought I might like to start out with. pure black, and daemonette hide. sun yellow for the inner mouth and eyes. I plan to was black ink into the skin and scales to cover up any missed white spots. I will wash druchi violet on the inner wing membrane and under scales. the back of the wings will get a coat of nuln oil to darken them and blend the purple and black. here it is them base colors applied. suggestions welcomed. I checked the other forum and it was TGP and Ludo that talked me into this. I feel they should get the blame, ah I mean credit for this. ah yeah credit that's what I meant .
  4. a couple of table top dragons, nothing fancy just trying to clear my big box of minis, so I can buy more. I am hoping to put Ebonwrath on stone pillars in the middle of a swamp setting. like he/she? is standing on a collapsed bridge drooling acid into the water. c&c welcomed
  5. well. Here's ebonwrath. Not yet dullcoated, because it's below freezing outside right now, so still a tad too glossy, and not actually attached to the base, but that will come with warmer weather. Comments, critiques, and suggestions to improve greatly appreciated.
