  1. A new warband for A Song of Blades and Heroes games! The wizard is Morgan from Zombicide Black Plague, and the soldiers are Tehnolog Romans. Thanks for looking! 🙂
  2. I would be very thankful if someone would tell me the name of this mini! I got it in a trade and can't seem to find it online!
  3. Fun fact! Like most zombicide minis, this sculpt was inspired by a fantasy character. In this case it is Isabeau from the movie Ladyhawke played by Michelle Pfeiffer. I've painted this mini to be my new ranger named Michelle in my Rangers of Shadowdeep campaign. I had a lot of fun highlighting her dress. Hope you like her! (click on the image for better quality)
  4. Howdy y'all! I know I am rather new to the forums but I thought I would introduce a bit of what I have been working on pre and post ReaperCon 2018. No doubt I have met with some of the forum denizens here, most notably @Green Eyed Monster for sure. Hopefully my presence here will be a welcome and fruitful one, and I look forward to talking and learning from all of you! A few months back I decided to pick up Zombicide: Black Plague, and before I knew it I was neck-deep in medieval zombies. I told myself I would save the heroes for after ReaperCon to employ some of the techniques and improvements I would have learned. I... uhh... sorta did that. Let's just say I quickly became tired of the derth of zombies and wanted to focus on more...noble...aspirations. The Goal: Get 'er done. Preferably by the end of October. Because what better way to say 'Thriller' like a box o'zombies. I am shooting for tabletop standard for the standard fodder zombies, with tabletop+ for the heroes. Not quite display level, but certainly a cut-above your bog 40k Guardsman (ifyaknowwhatimean hashtag don't_tell_the_commissar). I am loosely following the box artwork along with Sorastro's YouTube series, but I certainly am not married to everything. I will try to make a note of any techniques I employ that I have learned either from class, trial and error, or from online tutorials. Since this is my first original content post here, please let me know if I am doing anything incorrectly or against forum etiquette, as this is not my normal venue for sharing! So grab a cup and buckle up, cuz we are fixin' to see a whole lot of pictures of the scenic countryside of Zombicide: Black Plague.
  5. Because I apparently suffer from extreme ADHD when it comes to miniature painting... squirrel!! Ahem, the following are in various stages of WIP. Everything on the blob and rat has been applied by airbrush and mostly inks and washes to this point. The Abominataur has had some brushwork done since and is nearing completion. Tried something I picked up from a French Youtuber Hutif who mixes some satin varnish in with her inks when she sprays them. Will be doing a comparison on some different models at some point to see if it's actually doing anything but it seems to be helping the ink settle into the recesses better. Applying inks/washes through the airbrush has also been neat as you spray at such a low pressure that you can get really precise. If nothing else, it was great practice. These are not meant to be works of art, just messing around and hoping to get them on the table with 3 or so hours of work each. So far, the minotaur is the farthest along has had about 2 hours total. Thanks for looking.
  6. I suck at photography. Took probably twenty pictures, trying to find an angle, distance, light combo that accurately reflected how good these look, but finally gave up. They're good enough for the Black Plague table-top anyway.
  7. Base colors done. Need to do the flagstone tiles on their bases and then apply quickshader. Very tired of being such a slow painter.
  8. Well, I finally have gotten around to starting up the Necromancer's from Zombicide: Black Plague. I could have started with the core Necro, but I felt inspired to start with Grin. Now I as I painted him up I had to constantly tell myself he's only for gaming. But I think he has some character. The game fiction has him being a Necromancer that failed at an attempt to bring out the dead, from a pesky adventurer. So I decided to give him a similar complexion to my zombies. Then I decided to attempt to give him some red lips to enhance his grin. In the end for a table top mini I think he came out ok. Though After painting him up I noticed a few spots I'll touch up. Then I though that he would have look cool painted up as a not-joker. *Sigh* Maybe someday I'll look to see if I can acquire another copy. Thanks for any C&C you feel inspired to give.
  9. I have been busy but not posting threads recently. I have been using a range of models to play Lions Rampant and Dragon Rampant. For this I have used a combination of Bones and other figures. As I don’t have enough archers, I have opted to use some of the add on models from the Black Plague Kickstarter. First up is the paint scheme I opted to use. The idea is they are what remains of a lords retinue hence the uniform. at present I am painting up a batch of six models. The last phot shows base colours still being applied. Further highlighting takes places prior to a wash of Agrax Earthshade. As as always comments welcome.
  10. Painted alternate Zombicide: Black Plague heroes for my nephew and niece for Xmas this year. They had borrowed the heroes for several weeks to play with on my brother's board, but I asked for them back eventually. I decided to go ahead and paint them and give them as gifts today. Thanks to whoever the genius artist was whose color scheme I copied for Persephone. I suck at paint schemes, so I almost always have to copy. Black Currant was mainly mine as I largely chose a black scheme since the pic on his card didn't have much black in it. I wanted my Black Currant to actually BE black, so I chose almost all dark coloring. I'm still a journeyman painter, so I don't usually highlight, but I experimented with highlight streaks in Persephone's hair and I thought it came out pretty well, so I'm learning. I just wish I had more time to paint.
  11. Used mold #344 from Hirst Arts to craft walls for my Zombicide: Black Plague game to take my game 3D. Going to try it tomorrow night after we meet friends to decorate Christmas cookies with the kids.
  12. And here is my latest completed work. He was a quick 2 - 3 hour paintjob (purely tabletop). I see looking at these photos that I have some base mismatch between him and the rat, and there is some cleanup to do on his base (easily done).
  13. Finished him up quite awhile ago, but I never got around to posting photos. He's a quick and dirty tabletop figure for Zombicide: Black Plague.
  14. Base coat and then Army Painter quickshade. Still need to remove the gloss and then highlight.
  15. Now that summer is here and I'm not teaching anymore, I'm finally poised to finally finish my Black Plague zombies. Did three sets of seven and the abomination that I'm about to post. Fatties, male walkers, female walkers. Here are the fatties first with their base coats, then with Army Painter quick shade applied. Matte varnish to come and then highlighting.
  16. Last night I had some free time, so I decide to start on my my troll abomination. Quick and dirty, no more than 3 hours (and more like 2 probably). No mold lines were harmed during this painting. Tabletop, and I don't want to try because, well, the mold lines on these suckers are tough.
  17. So here are the first 3 (of 6). Minus the bases, I'd say I stayed close to my 3 hours per figure. The next 3 have been started and will appear in the WIP thread soon. Thanks for looking.
  18. Base coat layer done. Just noticed from the close up pic that I missed a tongue on one of them. Quickshader next. Blood goes on last.
  19. Here we have a survivor from the Zombicide: Black Plague core box, Nelly. I don't think she's happy. WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69781-zombicide-black-plague-nelly-samson-and-silas/
  20. Newbie painter here. I've really been struggling with the concept of highlighting, but I've been practicing on my newly acquired Zombicide: Black Plague figures. This is probably the best work I've done so far. I also struggle mightily with eyes, yet managed to do some decent ones here, which does wonders for my confidence. You might remember that I posted some time ago asking for help on the Nun hero whose face I screwed up. I still haven't gone back to her, yet, but eventually I'll have to. Here is the dwarf hero, Samson. Tips welcomed.
  21. Base coat layer applied. The plague skin doesn't show up well in these pics. I still suck at photography, but trust me, the skin is tinted green, not gray. I followed Sorastro's YouTube guide. I would point out if you're thinking of doing this yourself that there are a few details of these particular minis that are hard to make out. Just above the walker's left boot, there is a patch of skin showing through a torn patch of his trousers. I painted over it on all seven and only noticed at the end. Watch out for that. Similarly, I didn't initially catch that the tunic is torn off his abdominal area, but it's intact over the back, so I had to go back and paint over the back after I'd missed it. Lastly, on the back in the right armpit there is a patch torn that's dangling. I couldn't make it out at first, so paint the cloth, but leave a bit of flesh above it. The left shoe is missing, too.
  22. Just some base coats to get things rolling with these folks, nothing too noteworthy I think... Mostly working out of the common colors in my workbench set of paints, though I did have to dig something up for Silas's cloak. Had to mix some green and browns up, ended up using that for the red to tame it a bit.
  23. Here we have a survivor from the Zombicide: Black Plague core box, Samson. WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69781-zombicide-black-plague-nelly-samson-and-silas/
