Hey all, It's been a while! Didn't get a lot of painting done in the back half of last year because of a few things, but I have started to climb back to the painting desk. I have a few projects I have completed that I will have to upload, but for now enjoy this rendition of Nor'Okk the Ettin. For some reason I have a soft spot for large, Ogre-like miniatures. I like the scale, I like that they're humanoid but big enough to have really good opportunities to play with muscle tone, etc. I do have a lot of ogres set up to work on, so I wanted to make this ettin different looking. It's not perfect, but I frankly had to get him wrapped up before Bones 4 inundates me even further! Thanks for looking. C and C always appreciated.

Frulla Krung The Frost Giantess Frulla Krung was chosen as the next project by popular vote on the forums. The miniature was sculpted by Sandra Garrity and the base was composed of a piece of slate, sand, ballast, and bark. You can see for yourself in the WIP post. The miniature is depicted as a frost giant so I gave her blue skin and instead of a classic blond look as most seem to get, I decided to keep hers dark blue. For the eyes I went with a bright grey iris to make them creepy, intense and stand out. She's clothed in the latest fashion of yellow fur trimming a classic leather bikini top and loincloth bottom. Her "Ugg" boots are wrapped with leather thongs and she likes a fur bracer. She's sporting a tribal necklace of teeth but with a pendant to match the bracelet on her arm. Her other accessory? The family battleaxe. A classic double headed axe with some amazing filigree work on the flat of the head. She'll claim a few heads with it next go around with the humans below. Her ancestral home is high within the mountains and thus covered in snow, ice and hoarfrost. Here she is ... Frulla Krung, the Frost Giantess! Enjoy. Check her out in the Inspiration Gallery. Well, finished this last night. There is a WIP thread, but honestly there's hardly any difference between those shots and these, except some work on the lips. And these are less blurry. I mainly wanted to paint this miniature to experiment with painting blue skin. The skin is Formula P3 Trollblood base, with varying amounts of Reaper Pure White added. It took for or five layers, finishing up with some tiny lines of pure white on the highlights. Reaper Witchcraft Purple featured prominently also, especially in her hair. Speaking of which, the camera has totally failed to capture the dark blue-purple shadows between hair strands, made using a wash of Witchcraft Purple cut with Indigo Blue. Oh well. I'm still not entirely happy with the lips. But I can live with them. Here are pics of the base from a slightly top-down angle: The base is resin, from Micro Arts Studio's Possessed line, in the WRound 30mm group.

WIP :: The Ogre Chieftain Blues Yes, I have a lot of WIPs. Big whoop. What's one more? When you have nearly a 1,000 20 minis any paint is good. So here is Reaper's Kagunk, Ogre Chieftain and he's trying out a new look. Well for me anyway. I basecoated his skin in blue, Vallejo Deep Sky Blue Then started blending Reaper's Tanned Shadow over it. I'm liking the looks so far. Yeah, there's a lot of white left to cover but it was more about the skin to start. When he's finished, since I took the time to remove his integral base, I plan to put him on this cool WoldStand display base directly. It'll almost look like a large tree's cut stump.

FIGURE...(AD&D - Grenadier # 105) Blister pack figure (circa 1985-86). I want to thank member araziel for helping identify this figure for me (since I had no data information on it). I tried to execute this entity as a semi-sinister character (not really friendly like the blue djinni in Sinbad)...so I tried to keep the facial expression stern and no nonsense (like...what do you want now...why are you bothering me?) More vintage figures are in the works...it is really great getting back to these older figures from yesteryear.
