  1. This is my first "speed paint". I estimate around 2 hours per mini. The sculpts are hit or miss but I think they did a good job with the faces. I learned a bit about speed painting and what I could possibly get away with. I used Uniform Gray primer, a minimal pallet, Quickshade Strong Tone, and added a a bit to a few bases. The gray primer I left for anything that was steel and I like the end result. I am working in the Generals (bad guys) now. Most of their sculpts are not that good but the dragon looks pretty good. I will continue with the expansion sets after the base game is pa
  2. The nice detail of this game is it can be used with just the Aircraft Cards without the miniatures if you need to travel light. So now the WWII game:With all the planes to scale, makes the bombers huge. As I said, there is more to come, stay tuned.
  3. Soooooo, those who read my Armada post may remember a statement I made that went like this: THIS IS WHERE I DRAW THE LINE... I think. Well that went out the window when I saw some clearance planes called "Wings of War". The models would look good on my display shelf... that is until I looked up "Wings of War" and then "Wings of Glory" was listed also. Needless to say when I saw the Videos they got me hook-line and sinker. Ah, the Emperor again, for scale comparison. The painting detail is quite impressive. So this is not the half of it. Check out my next posting.
  4. Well, looks like Hasbro is doing their own version of a kickstarter for a new release of one of the all-time classics. I don't know if their site for the crowdfunding would be considered as a commercial site, but I'm sure it will be easy enough to find. I'm in!

  6. Found this and thought I'd pass on: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/highnoongame/high-noon-a-wild-west-combat-tactical-board-game/description FYI the game components graphic near the top show what you get if you go "all in" NOT what's in a standard box.

  8. Cthulhu Wars: Onslaught Three, featuring a faction called "The Ancients" has just been announced by Petersen Games, set to launch July 17th. EDIT: starts at 8 AM CST Monday July 17th.
  9. We bought Stuffed Fables about a year and a half ago to play with our nieces. I have had good intentions of painting it but have yet to get around to it. I'm starting this so maybe I'll get motivated to actually do it. I have until the week after Christmas to have it done. There are 6 Stuffies (heroes), 3 types of enemies (4 of each type), and 5 bosses. (Spoiled for large photos) First the Stuffies: Next the enemies: Finally the bosses: I have not primed or prepped these in anyway, this is straight out of the box. I do not curre
  10. Thunderstone Quest by AEG is the third in a line of deck builder style games with the Thunderstone name. I never played the first two, but each iteration got a little more love from the fans. This version certainly knocks it out of the park and my friend and I played through a good portion of the included "quests" (which were basically recommended card to play with). The miniatures it comes with aren't strictly necessary, but they do look better then colored pieces of wood. Because it is a board game, I wanted to give everyone a separate colored base to make them stand out a little more an
  11. Original model, from board game Wander: Cult of Barnacle Bay, by Panda Cult Games. Customer requested a trident in the hand and a base. Couldn't find a freekkkin trident anywhere except some European company that couldn't get it here until after the deadline, so I had to mod a spear. Finished Product follows: C&C or things to do better next time would be much appreciated.
  12. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ccgames/war-titans-invaders-must-die-1?ref=category_newest&ref=discovery About War Titans is a cooperative game in which 2 to 4 Players face waves of Invaders controlled by the mechanics of the game itself. 14. About The Tang dynasty was considered the first golden age of the classical and now iconic Chinese gardens. Emperor Xuanzong built the magnificent imperial Garden of the Majestic Clear Lake as an homage of life itself. Tang Garden is a Zen-like game that will take you to the first golden age of China, where players will progressively build a garden by creating the landscape, placing the scenery and projecting their vision through vertical panoramas. During the construction, noblemen will visit the garden to admire the surroundings and the way the natural elements c
  15. Some in progress works of nyar as I work on him. Started with black primer, airbrushed white pre shading, drybrushed transparent dioxane purple, accenting the shadows, then coated in transparent pthalo blue.
  16. Adrenaline is a board game made to simulate a first person shooter, sort of. From left to right we have Dozer, Sprog (he's from Texas), Violet, :D-Struct-Or, and Banshee. I still need to put some sealer on, but I wanted to take pictures before that. I'm not too happy with how :D-Struct-Or came out. He's a case of, stop before you aren't happy with the final product. However because I did him first, I was more sparing with the others and I think they came out ok. Good enough to look nice on the table top. Thematic paint used (left to right): Military Grey, Alien
  17. Started on these this week, thought I'd throw them up before I went to bed. C&C always appreciated, especially on the antelope, I'm having a hard time think what I could do to improve it, but I think it was too easy to get it looking that good. Underside of the antelope is still a wip, BIGTIME, I've barely started on it. I mean the gorey sinewy muscle for the tips to make better. KDM story spoilers ahead...
  18. Survivor Zachary, assembled, green stuff'd, primed in white, base flesh tone and hair, and skin wash. Working on the eyes now, he's not supposed to look like batman.
  19. Started assembling this guy, the horn got glued on wrong so I had to separate it and reposition. Still going to greenstuff the gaps but got these pics to check the positioning of the horn.
  20. Finished Spellweaver from Gloomhaven for a comission. First attempt at OSL, and first bona fide 28mm eye job. C&C welcomed.
  21. Okay, first of all, this isn't so much about, "Gee, look at what awesome paint jobs I managed to sloppily churn out over the holiday," as it is more about, "Wow, this board game has some rather cool minis that could be interesting for a cyberpunk campaign." Anyway, every now and again I work on painting up board game minis for a friend with at least enough detail that they can be visually distinguished easily enough on the table. As such, most of my effort goes into color-coding, and that's especially the case here. (AGENTS - L to R: Orangutan, Cobra, Blue Jay, Sp
  22. Been working on a commission for the last week, haven't progressed much on the Cthulhu Wars stuff. This is the result of my labor:
  23. I just painted up the Stone Juggernaut from the Tomb of Annihilation board game.
