B4core #1: This one was a bit of a struggle as I foolishly started from a black undercoat and later decided to do the tabard and shield in white. Bad Idea! Especially when I accidentally managed to paint a black line on the finished white shield....argh! seven coats of white later is can still be seen, albeit faintly. I am not entirely happy with the results around the sheild design, which ended up less sharp than I would like. This is also the same shield design as on the Bones 3 "crusaders" subset and also on Sir Justin Forscale, so apparently they are members of the same knigh

I took this picture last night while I was fooling around with recently painted models. It's firecracker time! 02771, Lorus Firecracker sculpted by Sandra Garrity vs. 89031, Whispering Tyrant sculpted by Bobby Jackson. The 77531, Graveyard Fence Posts are also from Reaper and were sculpted by Bob Ridolfi. The skull I added on the post is from the 02611 Skulls of 8 races package sculpted by Sandra Garrity.

Delving into the Bones 4 core set, we start by pulling out the 24 bonus goblins that originally were in the Bones 3 core set. And add to them the 12 that I have from the previous kickstarter for a grand total of 36 goblins, 6 each of 6 different sculpts. I actually think I should have a few more of these, as one of the ones I got in the Bones 3 shipment was missing a part, and Reaper sent me a whole pack as a replacement. I wonder where I have put the originals? These are a bit thinner and more weedy sculpts than the Bones 1 and 2 goblins (Reaper makes a lot of Goblins, obviously th

Finished up #77057 Juliette, female Sorceress. Very happy with the end results. Only problem I had with the sculpt is the right boot which was really lumpy and not well defined but that's only a minor complaint as i really love the overall sculpt. Had a bit of a panic when i was working on the face when some paint got in the right eye so i had to redo it but think i salvaged it though the outline is a bit less now. Oh and on the face and small details 18/0 brush is your friend. Main colors: Spruce Green Phantom Glow Heartwood Brown Scholar flesh

The Whispering Tyrant from the second Bones kickstarter. This is an officially licensed Pathfinder miniature. So I guess it is some sort of evil adversary in some adventure or other in that game. For me, this is Loki. I expect you see why. To make the model even more similar to the trickster god, I cut off the central helment-thing and carved the helmet round. Which took me whole tens of seconds! Bones material is really easy to cut and convert. I will miss this aspect with the Bones Black minis. On this mini I have tried out some new colorshift paints from Green Stuff World and a fl

Good day everyone, In the wait of playing Scourge of the Howling Horde adventure, I recently painted these two nuisances. Inspired by Anne Foerster work displayed in Reaper's Online Store, I went with the classical orangish skin tone and dark leather color. I also added war paints on their face and limbs. 07003 Dungeon Dwellers Bloodbite Goblins sculpted by Bobby Jackson.

Hi everyone, here is 77061, Kord the Destroyer sculpted by Bobby Jackson. This was my entry in Reaper Facebook Quarterly Bones Painting Contest #9. I managed to win an honorable mention. I swapped both of his weapons for a bastard sword and a battle axe from Reaper 03560, Fantasy Weapons Pack, and mounted it on a 30mm round base.

Next randomly grabbed mini is the Dragonman Warrior from the first Bones kickstarter. This one suffers a bit from the softer Bones material used on the earlier Bones. The details are a bit soft, especially around the mouth and face in general. The scales are not all as marked as they might have been. The weapon needed straightening as is common with these minis. As can be seen in the pictures, the straightening was successful, but not quite perfect. I thought this one might have a bit more armour than the average Lizardman. Turns out it is meant as a player charact

Finished up my set of 6 Goblin Warriors for a game i will be DM for in April. Really happy with how they came out. Gnoll flesh paint from the Dungeon Dwellers set (really hope i can get this paint separately at some point) worked wonders for the Goblins and I think will be my go to for them from now on so as they have a distinct feel to them rather then having the same color set as say an Orc. Also because everyone knows that Goblins never take care of their weapons I was finally able to use my MiG rust pigments that have been siting around for about a year now and thing they turned out nice.

I have a halfling npc in a DnD5 game I’m running. When I introduced the character I had this figure in mind and he has since become one of the PC’s butler. It’s taken me some time to get around to put some paint to him and …. The face didn’t really work out all that well. He looks a bit psychotic. I’m not sure that the players will trust him once I’ve placed the mini on the table :)

The first painted mini of the year! I really love this sculpt. My favorite part by far is the comb over :D I did a poor job of cleaning the miniature before priming and starting to paint it (like always), so there's a bit of grain on the axe and other irregularities. But nothing to harmful.

Following the conclusion of Storm King's Thunder, our group has started The Curse of Strahd, and I decided to play a thief. Going through my collection of minis, the River Widow mini from ReaperCon called out to me. As usual, after cleaning the few bits of flash and mold lines, I paused... How did I want to base her. I've made extensive use of the Ruined Temple Courtyard stamp from Happy Seppuku... but for this game I decided that I was going to use the Fishscale brick pattern which I'd picked up during their Black Friday sale. I clipped the tab connecting her feet, leaving only 2 spikes from

So I realized I only had one painted dwarf (!) when one of my GMs asked me if I had anything for the Jadeborn, a race in Exalted that is roughly equivalent to dwarves except for the 0.001% who are roughly equivalent to elves. And they are also sort of stone golems. Based on jade. I thought Reaper's 60184: Meyanda, Android Priestess, sculpted by Bobby Jackson, would do well for one of the elfy artisan Jadeborn and I pulled out a random assortment of seven (because of course) dwarves for the worker and warrior Jadeborn. All paints used are Golden Matte Fluid Acrylics. Col

These are Reaper's 77351: Cultists in Bones, sculpted by Bobby Jackson. For some reason this paint was seriously resistant to a matte finish on Bones. Oh, well.

I have finally started working on my many Bones minis. This first one is 773000 Antipaladin by Bobby Jackson. It is mostly an experimental/ practice piece. I am not completely happy with my mold line removal, but in this case I am not going to worry about it too much. Mostly it is to get me acquainted with working with Bones minis and to experiment with my new Scale 75 metallic paints. I am not happy with all of the photos, my old photo setup got broken and I haven't gotten it replaced yet and just as I was taking these pictures one of my light bulbs went out and I don't have a replacement. I could have sworn I'd started a topic for her... I guess I only did it in blog posts... Ah well... Here you go, from my blog way back in May!: Of all the various monsters in my collection, I don't have anything to represent a genie. And of the various minis out there that are sold as Jinn/Genies, I'm not super thrilled with any of them. So in my last Reaper order I added in one of the Dancing Girl minis, picturing her something more like Jeannie, rather than one of the more authentic portrayals of Jinn. The other reason I picked this particular sculpt is that I'll be

77140: Townsfolk: Village Rioter sculpted by Bobby Jackson I've been working on a big army project, so I painted this to take a break and refresh my brain. I've been working on an OSL speed painting technique to use in my painting classes, and I think it's working pretty well. This is roughly 4-5 hours work, so a ways to go yet before its really 'speed painting'.

03157: Garwin Greywand, Wizard sculpted by Bobby Jackson. Continuing on with practicing OSL. I started by undershading with dark brown and purple and highlighted up to linen white on his body and base. I did the same thing but with black and greys on his staff. I then added the blue for his robe, using two sets of blues. One set has no light effect colour added. The other set has the yellow added. I did the shading and highlighting on the dark side with the blues that didn't have the yellow added. I used the set with the yellow added anywhere that I thought the l
