  1. This was a quick paint inspired by a few threads. The detail is in the WIP, which starts here. This was totally fun, though I realized I have no bronze paint, so I mixed up an oiled bronze from black, a dark brown and copper.. and a bit of antique gold. It looked OK by my inexpert eye.
  2. Ok, here is a figure I started at RCon. I wanted to get a palette cleansing figure done before I got back to my other WIPs. I didn't realize she was a Bone 2 figure till I got back. So I guess Alistrilee will be my first Bones 2 I paint up. Odd how I'm thinking of doing a figure with all that gold NMM as palette cleansing. Here is where I'm starting from:
  3. I have been feeling blocked by a diorama I want to turn out really good, so I have spent several days working layers onto the miniatures involved, or avoiding picking out color schemes for others. To heck with that. today I painted crates. brown liner, random shades of brown, drybrushed on and a few highlights added. (using ginger cookie, straight or mixed with the base color) I didn't worry about the fact that the crates were not square, or fill in places where the sprue was cut off. I just painted them. officially that's five figures painted, and I an update my sig. - I also painted an orc, but I think ill add some texture to his base. So not fully compleated. A good day to paint. November update: found the other barrel & made another crate
  4. Blue Sky Mushroom, Amethyst Deceiver, and Chicken-of-the-woods. only one of these was painted this month but they look best as a unit.
  5. Here are another three bones models to be used as scatter terrain for an upcoming Frostgrave game. These were sprayed black and then dry-brushed to highlight. Nice and simple. I decided to keep the colour choice simple and subtle to tie in with my other terrain. As always comments welcome.
  6. This guy was fun to paint. Reminded me of Super Mario Brothers.
  7. http://www.coolminiornot.com/384525 Vore and more!
  8. Here is the first of the two minis I entered into the painting contest at gencon This was my first attempt at greenstuffing a base and I'm fairly happy with it. Unfortunately I failed to get all the mold lines off of this guy as I spotted the on the top of his axe too late. I also painted the other minotaur from the set but he didn't get quite finished in time. I'll likely post him soon as he is almost done. Of the two though I like this one the most. Still trying to figure out the best way to take pictures and this guy was being a real elf about it for some reason. Hopefully some of these look ok.
  9. I've barely made a dent in my Bones 2. This makes 20 out of the lot complete when I add the mummies and ghouls I finished earlier this year. At the very least I'll have painting projects for the next year or three! I worked on this batch over the course of 4 Pathfinder sessions. :) It's fun to paint while roleplaying!
  10. So I was innocently relaxing on the couch, casually checking the numbers on kickstarter when suddenly this handsome gentleman called out to me and demanded that I paint him. Well, who am I to deny a zombie ogre's request? So I scrubbed him with soap and water and lovingly slapped some brown liner on him. I didn't really do much about cleaning any seams because I discovered that my xacto blade has rusted and I don't have any spares. Oh well, he doesn't seem to seamy anyway....or at least that's what he's trying to convince me. Also I have named him Zorbitol. He doesn't appreciate it much at all.
  11. In order to make a bit more of a headway into the Bones 2 models I have decided to challenge myself to paint the following over the next month. This is a total of 17 models, some will be painted in batches whilst the others have some more detail to add too them. So far tonight they have been washed, cleaned and based, prior to being undercoated tomorrow when I get back from work. As always comments welcome.
  12. Actually making some time to get some painting done this week. Still, what few minis I actually get around to painting this month will all go into the resolutionary challenge total. As per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread. Working on clearing the shelf... This is the last group of six skeletons. There was 9 different models in the pack, I bought 2 packs. Now I have a group of 18 ready to go. Put in a couple of the Mantic Skeletal Dogs Or Are They Rats? for a full regiment for Kings of War or Warhammer FB. 20mm mantic square base, bones PVC.
  13. Okay, last post of the night for me. I actually painted these guys up a while back when my home D&D game featured a necropolis, but I didn't post them up then and am just now getting around to it. My roommate got in on the Bones II Kickstarter, and these guys are all phenomenal. They're in previews right now, so I'm hoping they hit the retail store soon so I can nab some more for myself. Plus it appears they're coming in sprues of 3! So I'll have a bunch of undead nasties next time I need some. Much excite.
  14. So here's a dump of plate-wearers. Isabeau you've already seen here, but she appears here again in the little "diorama" I made because reasons. I came up with a little story idea for these guys, in that the paladins all wear red cloaks/capes/what-have-you and white armor. The anti-paladin was once a member of their same order, but kept his cloak as a sort of middle finger to his old friends. It's a sore spot between them all. Almaran is a bit pale as I was using the Fair Skin paints on him and have decided I'll likely stick to Rosy Skin as the absolute "fairest" I'm going to paint someone who is not undead. He looks sickly, at least in person. Also I didn't see the mold line on his face before I was painting him so he has a kind of Two Face thing going on that he shamefully hides behind his shield. I've actually painted all 3 of the paladins before. My other Almaran is floating around here somewhere. My Duke and Isabeau though are kind of laughably bad, particularly contrasted with their newer, shinier versions, at least to me. We're our own hardest critics, right? Anyway, enjoy!
  15. Actually making some time to get some painting done this week. Still, what few minis I actually get around to painting this month will all go into the resolutionary challenge total. As per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread. Some more of the Bones 2 Skeletons, now also with armour and clothing: Some bad mould lines along the stonework that a couple of them stood on needed to be concealed with flock. That makes 12 of them finished, with a few more doubles still unpainted to go. 20mm square Mantic base, Bones
  16. This month I am at the Mountains of Minis, delving them with gusto, having done mould-line carving, scrubbing, boiling, assembling etc a large portion of the roughly 20-ish minis I got in the Bones 2 shipment. And sacrificing the required amounts of fingerblood, of course. At any rate, what few minis I actually get around to painting this month will all go into the resolutionary challenge total. As per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread. Just a quickie with the Bones 2 zombies today: I think I might just have a wee bit of a thing about zombies. I seem to have painted rather a lot of them lately. Anyway. the new and improved Bones material is so much better than the floppy stuff they used for the Bones 1. Anybody know if they are planning to use this new harder mix for the old minis when they cast up some more?
  17. Had a lot of fun painting this beast. Reminds me of Ganon or one of his Moblins.
  18. seven days of painting including a Paint club meeting. The figure was taken from the good will box, and heavily warped. Boil/Ice helped mostly straighten the base, but the lean was only fixed when I cut the dragons front foot and propped it up on small stones. This unnamed white dragon will be perfect to throw at mid-level adventures. Not too big, but still dangerous.
  19. Vote and more. http://www.coolminiornot.com/380203 http://www.coolminiornot.com/380204
  20. Here is a selection of skeleton warriors and Guardians from the Bones 2 Kickstarter. I have painted them to represent they are inhabitants of a damp old crypt, hence the green staining and rust on the weaponry. This is the first set of Bones 2 models I have attempted to date. Here is a group shot of the lot followed by a few close ups of particular models. I have based them in my normal way, to represent them spilling out from the depth of a crypt. As always comments or suggestions welcome.
  21. I quickly did these right before ReaperCon to have enough minis finished for the resolution painting challenge for April. Hopefully my players will be amused by the shields. (For those not familiar, a red circle with a white dash is used on Do Not Enter signs in the US and perhaps elsewhere.)
  22. Spit Fire - a gold hating dragonling. The only surviving child of the Infamous Lava-wing. Lava-Wing was driven insane by a dwarf stealing his gold. The dwarf only a few ounces a every day or two, but it went on for years. The insanity was not so much from the theft but from the fact that the dwarf was leaving excrement behind in its place. After rampaging for years and destroying several dwarven and human communities Lava-Wing eventually caught up with the dwarf, but in his insanity was easily lured into a trap and slain. Spitfire has vowed never to collect gold. Oddly the dwarf responsible didn't much like gold either, as its procurement was rather painful for him. Neither dwarf nor dragon likes faeries either. Dragon: Bastic the Dwarf. L8 ranger, retired.
  23. Received Dragon from goodwill box, This means I have enough to have do another copy of this model as a brass... This one will be White, cause its one of my few large (not huge) dragons and this sze is perfect for fighting mid-lvl adventures. Started with a sky blue heavily thinned with something other than water. then hand painted the large scales white, and dry brushed the small ones. Added a coat of thinned dragon blue to the belly, and 2 layers of whiye glaze to the belly scales. It wasn't as thin as I wanted, and mya have done some watery clumping. sigh planning on an over all white glaze, and frosting the wings.
  24. May already! For this months resolutionary challenge I am going to try to get some miniatures done! The list will be in the challenge thread post. However, I will have very limited free time this month, so I think any I actually manage to finish will be counted as a win! At any rate, as per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread (when the thread gets started that is). BOO! Arn't I scary? Mike Wazowski before he succumbed to the enlarged eye syndrome. fun and simple. 20mm base.
  25. Long time no post. So here I go again. Another party member so another character waiting to be killed. His name is Chval (can be translated as "praise") and he is the witcher from the fire order. These boys call themselves "Hearts of fire". More like "farts on fire" to me. As a character I never liked him, as he was real phoney. He had a horse, while we were walking, he had a sword, while we had only sticks.... But during our last game we kind of find a way to each other....(un)fortunately my character has died, so the friendship was over in an hour :) Hope you will like him more than I did :) And again better res picture over here I need to paint my new character now... Still can't find the proper miniature.
