So this Friday I went by the Reaper store, and it was awesome! Got a tour by Matt, got to meet Bryan, just fantastic =D I picked up my first bottles of Reaper paint, lots of Bones for my husband's birthday present, and the Pathfinder Red Dragon for me! Instead of Red though, I choose Blue because then I could pick up less bottles =3 I wanted to do the dragon itself completely in Reaper paints. I've been painting in cheap paint from Hobby Lobby, so I wanted to try out Reaper paints to see how different it was. So my challenge to myself was the Pathfinder dragon, four bottles of paint [White, Black, Sapphire Blue, and a mis-labeled bottle from the $1 box], and to experiment in just how different the paint was from the cheap paint I usually use For now, I've done a base coat and begun layering the blue over it. Wings, belly scales, and back ridges are going to be white so I used the $1 bottle of light purple I got to do the base coat on them. My strategy in painting has always been use a dark basecoat, very dark, to fill in the crevices and then the real color over top. Hasn't done too badly for me yet, and the strategy went relatively well from craft paint to Reaper paints. This is about one hour of work. I know because I watched 2 episodes of Big Bang Theory while working on him, and stopped painting after the second episode because it was dinner time =P So he's no where near finished, but I thought I'd share my progress
