    89021 Bones Mystic Theurge

Finished this figure over the weekend. Painted to a moderately high tabletop standard*, trying for an interesting color scheme that is new to me. * Except for the eyes, which are very weak.

    Dreadmere - Sheriff Getmose Drumfasser

Clothes inspired by fox hunters. My painted writting on the scroll is rubish, notice you cant see it in these pictures. It is very hard to reach the scroll from behind, or around the curls. It is my third figure from the Dreadmere expansion, grabbed randomly from the "This looks fun to paint" group from that expansion. found the metal version - I need to make some fixes on this one.
  3. Painted up another bad guy for my players to encounter! Used contrast paints and light drybrushing on the stone Added the chompy goo-gore with glossy red

    Crowley's Almaran the Gold

While I still need to do his base, I finished of this pretty boy.

    Avatar of Rage 77586

Saw this figure in my LGS a while back, decided to buy it, and now I'm using it as my new DnD character. He was quite intriguing to paint. I really enjoyed this one. I used Citadel paints for it. I also gave it a spray undercoat first, I do with all minis even ones that are already primed, too much of a habit now.
  6. I know a lot of you use airbrushes on your bones, but my question is how well does the liner method work? I figure it would have to be thinned, but does using airbrush thinner get around the hydrophobic tendencies of bones? What ratio do you use? As always thanks in advance for your help!

    Dire Crab BONES 4

I don’t have the lot number yet. Also, this is my first post so guidance on posting conventions is welcome. The Bones 4 haul was extraordinary! Edit: sized down. I’ll figure out how to get down to 150 kB later.
  8. Been working on this off and on since RCon. I originally intended to enter it for my Ed Sculpt, but ran out of time. Instead I focused on trying to get a decent fast paint job. I'd guess I'm at about 6 hours total over 4 or 5 days. Sorry I didn't take many process pics. The next step is basing. I have a few ideas, but I'm trying to let them gel a bit.
  9. Here's my final batch of new painted figures. Bones Giant Centipedes. A staple encounter for low-level adventurers. Still inspired by Reign of Winter. Sadly, Mr. Red got into the snow of Mr. Blue's base! Enjoy. C&C Welcome.
  10. Simple conversion painted to tabletop quality for the big bad for my D&D group.
  11. My first time posting to this forum, please let me know if I misstep :p Reaper Bones Black: 44002 Rock Troll I added a more rocky base using rock and some plastic crystals carved from leftover plastic sprue. Also added some more crystals to his elbows and side. The elbows were just because I thought it would make it look more menacing but the one on his side was because of a huge hole leftover from the moulding process. To take care of assembly lines I used some of the rock I cracked apart for the base. I still have the belt and pouch to do, along with the base and some smoothing if blends in his muscles. Feedback and CC most welcome!!!

    Modified blackstar corsair alpha

So the reason I had spare blackstar rifles was that I decided a proper pirate captain needs a sword. So I built this guy with the bones 3 weapon pack, and the spare head off of the bones 4 bulldog armor. His sword has much fire, and his reactor a distressing blue glow.

    77116 Colossal Skeleton

Hi all. I just finished the Colossal Skeleton that I've had for a couple years now. For the longest time I was holding off because I was afraid of doing a mini so much bigger than all the rest. I've gotten some nice reviews on some of my recent stuff so I decided to take the plunge and try my hand at my first large figure. I have several sets much larger than even this guy so I had to start somewhere. The closeup pics show how much work I did on the fur for the back lioncloth as well as the wood grain lines I painted on the planks on his right thigh. I based him on a wooden plaque my mom was getting rid of that I painted black. I was doing more work on the base, it was supposed to have some more colours in it but I messed up on the drybrushing so I called it finished and hid the mistake with some static grass . So far one friend has told me the blue rags pull him out of the mini because they look too new and blue while the rest of him is old and rotted. Maybe he could do with some more staining on the blue but it doesn't bother me much. Anyways, enough preamble, I hope you all like him enough as my first large mini! Edit: forgot to apologize for the make-believe "lightbox" photos, but that's how it goes.
  15. Finishing up some minis, including a small coterie of spider centaurs and their demon mistress. These are two of Gene Van Horne's "Arachnid Archers". I had a lot of fun painting them. Front views are linked offsite because of nudity. In person she looks translucent like a pomegranate seed: Companion pieces: 77180: Shaerileth, Spider Demoness and 77181: Arachnid Warrior WIP thread here.

Did a little painting today to calm my nerves before the con. Experimented with several brands of metallic paint. Photos are not great, but you get the idea.

    Not-so-dread Gazebo

Hey, don't normally do WIPs, so forgive me if I skip steps, but I started working on my gazebo from Bones 4. Built up a cork base and mounted on some basswood (slightly harder than balsa): I'm going to be using this as blocking terrain in Kings of War, so I don't really need any interior functionality. I got a Rivendell vibe from this, so I'm going to load it up with some greenery. First step is covering the rock parts with a gritty paste: Just left the steps exposed and some edges.

    The Road to Lugbúrz

    Finished this guy up.

    Spiders - part 2 (giant)

Here are a trio I painted up quickly for the same encounter as the smaller ones - result is a bit cartoony but serviceable. I think I got the eyes on the purple one to look nice and insecty though - used red with a pale green metallic thinned down over it.
  20. This is what I'm working on at the moment. I had to start over a few time due to issues with the sculpt. Before I even got started I had to, well I didn't have to but I chose to, fix some of the more obvious problems with the sculpt using Apoxie Sculpt. Some of the mail had no detail at all, so I add it in, and there were some just terrible mold lines. I finally just decided to say forget it and move on with the painting. I was going for more of a grey skin, but ended up with a greener skin. I'm ok with where it's going, but on the next Orc I'll adjust the skin tone. Sorry the pics are a bit wonky.
  21. Hello forum family, as I already wrote in the WIP thread I just wanted an Aasimar but don't wanna buy one, so I decided to make my own converting the bones version of the Ghoul Queen and the Angel of Shadows. And this is the outcome: Hi-res picture I really like how she came out, I really hope you'll like her too! Every c&c and advice is super welcome :) Thank you for watching!

    77233, Kegg, Bugbear Hunter

Hi all. I may have finished this guy in record time. I am trying this new thing where when I want to stop and get up from my desk... I don't . This is a bugbear that I just primed with a couple others even though I didn't really have any strong feelings about him. But as I started working on him I started to get more excited, which is something that's been happening to me more now. I just start a mini to get more stuff painted and end up liking the job. I have started to put more effort into highlighting because I got a nudge here on the forums and I am so glad I did. I really like the work I did on his armour, bringing the scales up to a brighter orange and ticking the edges with silver to make it look like the orange was paint wearing off. In person he really glitters with that silver, something that didn't quite come across in the picture. I like the highlighting I did with his skin and loincloth and also the silver rivets on the arm and shin guards. I hope you all like him too!
