  1. I found one more wolf in my "hoard of unpainted things". He must have been in the Halloween goodies or the Christmas stocking. Oh well, I wanted a white wolf for my pack and now I have one! I would take more poses of wolves (hint, hint, Reaper!)
  2. Felltyde

    Lich

Big bad guy for current campaign
  3. Okay, I promise I'll finish one of these threads one day. But in the meantime I've started painting the Bones Sphinx. I've already painted up the wings, I've just got a few little things to do. I do want to thank @Pochi for the inspiration for the wings. Photos:

  5. I needed some minis for an upcoming arctic adventure, so I knocked these out. Disappointed with my effort, sloppy and boring. Good enough for the game table, but I doubt I’ll be diving into this sorta thing again anytime soon
  6. I decided to paint a bunch of things to fill up any torture chambers I would need to create in my builds. The table with the implements is not from Reaper and is in metal. I do not remember who it is from. :) The Bones painted up a bunch quicker though! :)
  7. GodOfCheese

    Bad Kitty

It's as if the creature is saying "This is my watering hole! Go find your own" I really wasn't sure how to do the wings, which was why there's so much contrast between the wing webs and the wing fingers, but I do like how he came out. Feedback appreciated, especially any advice on the wings!
  8. I had finished the dragon in December last year, but I still had the base to work on. Finally finished this brand new looking clockwork dragon painted with metallic paints and my favorite blue, Nightmare Black this weekend. I still have another, thinking of doing a rusty/tarnished version sometime.
  9. This is my version of the Bones 77630: Sacrificial Altar I already have a bunch of evil looking altars, so I went instead for an arcane look. That said it was a speed paint.
  10. Felltyde

    Ettin

One of my favorite D&D monsters, ready to unleash him on the party
  11. These are the dread wolves from the cemetery set in Bones 3. I think I might work on the rest of the cemetery set this week. I need to work on Count Lorenth of the Reaper Facebook Quarterly Contest too! Anyway, these creepy wolves have seen better days. I'm not sure if they are undead or only mostly dead (bonus points if you get the reference) but I painted them up so that I think they will work either way. Adventurers will certainly get a nasty disease if they are bitten or scratched by one of these guys! I painted these in my push to paint all of the toothy fluffs in my "hoard of unpainted things".
  12. I have some vague plans involving some Red Wizards of Thay in a future D&D game, so thought I'd get some painted in preparation. This is the first, which I'm very pleased with. The face was done mostly with the Tanned Skin triad, with some extra shadow achieved by mixing in blue liner. The beard was Grey Liner plus Rainy Grey, with increasing amounts of Pure White mixed in for the highlights. Similar for the chains, though they got a blue liner coat. Robes were a Spattered Crimson base coat over Brown Liner, with Nightshade Purple shadows, and Gory Red mixed with increasing amounts of orange and/or yellow for the highlights. The scythe handle and scroll bone were mostly Bone triad, with a brown wash and some shading with Woodstain Brown. The blade was mostly Pure Black, Rainy Grey and Pure White, with some Blue Liner mixed in. The scroll got a Polished Bone base coat, with some thin streaks of various light browns, Brown Liner for the glyphs, and a brown wash over the whole thing. This is probably one of the best paint jobs I've done, and certainly the best face to date
  13. This one was painted up in a bit of a hurry for a D&D game. I'm pleased with the overall effect (especially the wing colouring), but I'd like to have taken a bit more time to make the scales pop. The wings were airbrushed to get the smooth blending; the rest was done with a hairy stick. Mostly Peacock Green, Brilliant Green and Viper Green, I think. With some yellow mixed in for highlights and a darker olive shade for the darker bits. The broken tower was made with a sheet of cork - i cut a load of blocks and made the edges a bit ragged, then did a lot of drybrushing and washing. The trailing vines came from a bag of lichen which got some brown wash to make it look slightly less pleasant.
  14. I upgraded my super cheap lightbox with some LED ribbons, so I've been playing around with photographing some recent minis. Here's a pair of Bones Chthons that I did fairly quickly (for me!). I primed them with Blue Liner, then the scales got an overall Peacock Green followed by Viper Green highlighting. The bellies were highlighted with Ice Blue (I think). Fleshy bits are Monarch Purple on the outside, and Entrail Pink highlighted with Breast Cancer pink on the inside. Teeth were done with the Bone Triad, with some dark red inside the mouth.
  15. Flesh Golem...over primered...lost a lot of features, did my best. Mixed thoughts.
  16. So 4 years ago some of you may remember this little gem. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/54758-cthulhu-through-the-eyes-of-a-4-year-old-girl Well last year at Reapercon she wanted to use the $25 gift certificate to buy another one and see how much better she was at painting it. So I had her go at it and this is what she came up with this time.
  17. I noticed this model bears striking resemblance to the wizard from my favorite childhood LEGO set. The scroll was done by a friend using a .25mm micron pen.
  18. Felltyde

    Ghost

    Love painting stuff like this
  19. This is the winter wolf from Bones 3. I want my pack to have a variety of fur colors. When googling wolves, I found a photo of one that was black with light grey/white tipped fur so that is the look I chose for this one. To me, it looks like he has been backed into a corner and is getting ready to spring!
  20. Here's my work on the "Tablescapes Dungeons-Mines" set from Secret Weapon Miniatures. The Goblins are all from "The Hobbit: Escape from Goblin Town" set, and the Dwarves are mixed manufacturer. I just wanted to give it a little character...or some little characters.
  21. Whipped up this fig in about 45 minutes and am really happy with how it turned out. Going to use it as a Gorgon in an upcoming adventure. I feel like I could have spent another hour or two on it, but that probably would have ended up making it look worse rather than better. Sometimes leaving a fig alone is the best bet. Comments and critiques are welcome as always. Thanks in advance!
  22. Howdy, All Reaper this week... Kev! P.S. Hulk smash!
  23. Howdy, All Reaper this week... Kev! P.S. Do you have any idea how much embalming fluid stings?
  24. Howdy, All Reaper this week... Kev! P.S. Mesmerized by the sight of a blade seemingly forged from a splintered shard of space/time, the harvest of your soul escapes your notice...
