  1. Hello forum friends, wanna share with ya'll my most recent painted mini. We have a lot of time atm to hobby hard! :D Tryed new tecnics on this bad boy (well new for me) like loaded brush, mixing colors right on the mini etc. Took me way less that layering and glazing, obvious the quality is lower, but still good IMHO. The palette of choice is the most natural possible, lot of oranges and browns, but also some punchy color like the blue of the hairs and a bit of red. Also used some dry pigments on the base... not good result, but still accetable for tabletop. Any C&C is welcome, let me know if you like it. Thanks for watching :)
  2. I loved this sculpt from the moment I saw it. I absolutely could not wait to paint it. But I was intimidated by it for a variety of reasons. I didn't like most of the color schemes I initially chose, and repainted him several times. I wanted a decent base for him (I greatly regret not rebasing Cthulhu, for example), etc. etc. But then things just kind of came together and I painted the beastie a little bit at a time over the past few days... and I'm really happy with the outcome! C&C appreciated -- this guy was unexpectedly challenging for me, so there's probably oppo for improvement here. :-)
  3. Fairly quick mini... Needed something fun to give myself a bit of a mental break over the weekend. Probably 3 hours total - yes, I'm slow!
  4. Finished the Gibbet for the Hut and Baba Yaga...Thanks for looking.
  5. Here is the next project for “Try to paint all the things!” I plan to paint her as a very light skinned elf. I might try an Autumnal color scheme.
  6. Frost Giant King and Queen. C&C welcome.
  7. Frost Giant Court - King, Queen, and Guards are from earlier KS (I believe), Rangers are add-ons from Bones 4. C&C welcome. Will post close-ups of rest tomorrow.
  8. Another quick tabletop paint job completed over the weekend. I think this guy is from KSIV, @TGP told me he is a dwarven hero. I used some basic techniques: basecoat, drybrush, and various washes.
  9. My take on Baba Yaga's Hut. Or as my daughter calls it, the bird house. I had her pick out the color scheme.... just so happens it seems to be a common/popular one. Thanks for looking.
  10. Last new show off from me for a while. I finished him a while back. His WIP is here. https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/87019-darcstaar-vs-bones-1-ep-4-kieran-tallowmire-wizard/&tab=comments#comment-1844494 I initially wanted to paint orange. That got me thinking of a sunset color scale. It came out OK, but the process was harder than I thought it would be. Also, I’m trying to go through old Bones faster, but this was taking too long! A shot of his Fireball scroll. I went with burnt out candles to avoid needing to worry about OSL. I tried to pattern the feather as an owl feather. Hope you like it! C&C welcome.
  11. I decided to paint the entire bunch of snake cultist minis from Bones 4 as the most deadly snakes of the world. The paint jobs were fine for tabletop play, but I felt like I could have done a better job. Thus, I added more paint and touched them up. I'm much happier with how these turned out. I'm still in the process of painting the other snakes, but here are the two archers, one a black mamba and the other a boomslang. I LOVE THESE MODELS. Painting the scales was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, there are still mold lines in these minis, mainly because I don't feel like my hands are quite strong enough yet to accurately remove them, given how they run across the scales. I think I'll tackle the sorcerer casters next. One is a coral snake, the other is a banded sea krait. Painted with Reaper paints, though I also used a .005 micron to help with the lining and shadows. - TPS Minis
  12. This is the wolf from the bones animal companions set (77216). Googled a bunch of wolf photos and then the wolfie painted up really quick. Might put some plants on the base later.
  13. Decided to boost my painted minis numbers in January by speed painting some translucent fire spell effects. Bones 77080 and 77081
  14. I was inspired by limey72 work doing NMM Gold on the enlarged Dwarf over in Works in Progress. I wanted to do a brass like robot or construct, so I pulled out this Golem. I also wanted to try some AK weather effect acrylic pencils I have had for a time. I think it ended with too much brown and ended up wood looking. But it has grown on me, so I will finish up his base and call it done. Hope you like it.
  15. I got two Efreetis in my recent Reaper order. Out of the two one had far more gap lines than the other, so I opened the one that would take less effort to work on first since it's been awhile since I have properly tinkered with a mini. First thing's first, gap filling! This model had quite a lot of mold lines too, I dealt with most of them with an xacto knife and a file. The Bones Black material is brittle enough to handle a file if you're careful unlike the white Bones counterpart. While priming I noticed that part of one of her horns was missing, must have snapped off during shipping or during my work on her. Touched it back up with some more green stuff, just waiting for it to cure before I prime over it. In the mean time, there is nothing stopping me from popping into Procreate to play around with a colour scheme. I wanted to try something a but different than other painting examples I had seen. Still incorporating the red and gold, just in different ways.
  16. My exchange partner this time around was @Corporea. She was one of those troublesome ones that are fine with anything. This of course means that I am free to do anything, so what I did was use her as an excuse to test out airbrushing my Vallejo Air Metallics. Because of that this mini is a little more metallic than I might have otherwise done. The aluminum didn't want to airbrush, or hand brush for that matter, so I may have a bad bottle. Other than that they all worked as expected. I.e. you can create a TMM effect by combining these paints with a regular paint for the shadows. I also tried my hand at a mosaic tile base. The area I started with isn't as good as the rest of the base, but seeing as I am already late I didn't go back and take even more time to repaint that area. Overall I thought it turned out pretty well, though I don't believe I'll be doing it on cork again. While I thought the imperfections in the surface could work as missing tiles, in practice they just ended up being in inconvenient places. But unfortunately I had to stick a mini on it. Full frontal metal shiny. And rotating around for those that want to look. I also attempted to create the look of texture by applying leather colors in a series of parallel lines. I kind of liked it but at the same time I'm not sure that it comes across as any particular type of texture. And that's it for my 2019 exchange. Next year I might even try to be on time.
  17. I’m working on trying to get this big guy painted to tabletop standard by the time I have to use him at our next Pathfinder D&D session to represent the Roc King on Tilagos Island in the Demiplane of Last Resort, in the Age of Worms adventure path.
  18. PAINTED THIS DRAGON FOR MY DM WANTED TO BREAK IT THOSE DANG WINGS JUST KICK MY BUTT . BUT THINK IT CAME OUT PRETTY GOOD
  19. Hello forum family, I wanna share with ya all my most recent fatigue: Marthragul! I was in doubt if painting it into a realistical Earth dragon, or something more colourful... The Magenta won! :D And I chose to don't cut corners, so no drybrush, no washes, no feathering... just dear, old layering, shading and glazing ...cause I'm a fast painter, as you know And, yeah! This took me almost a month of at least two hours per day... basically I hate this dragon now Enough talking, time for pics :D I really hope you like it, if you have any question do not hesitate :) As always every C&C is more than welcome. Thank you :)
  20. Painted up these 8 unrelated barbarians as a clan for my Wrath of the Righteous campaign. Tried my hand at non-metallic metal again. This is the result. :)
  21. Just thought i would put these up to show off the new party making their way through saltmarsh. A party of six graduates from the civilized lands, roped into fulfilling a debt by their mentors. At least they are working together... they arent my finest work but for 6 hours of painting, they will do nicely for our little gaming group and the group enjoyed the surprise of coming to their second session to discover they all had custom painted minis! we have a Halfling fighter an elven thief with a fixation for daggers a halfling bard the blue dragonborn priest of Protos the black Dragonborn warlock (had to create the head. I couldnt find a dragonborn mini with an 8 strength...) and a Human ranger from the backstreets and slums hope you enjoy them, i dont know how long they will last....
  22. This is one I've had "in progress" for ages. I finally mustered the courage to tackle all the eyes and then had fun with drool!
  23. Another villager from me. :) This is a 03856 Townsfolk: Courtesan Got this one done at a painting day in about 3 hours of work, but interrupted by cups of tea. :)
  24. Here is my Callie. I painted her as a second WIP for my BONES 1 attempts. I really like the sculpt. I painted her as a half-orc or orc. She has some freckles, nice green gems, and some ivy freehand on the cloak. Here is a link to the WIP. https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/86283-darcstaar-vs-bones-1-ep-2-callie/ Enjoy. C&C Welcome.
  25. Howdy, Jazz hands? Kev! P.S. Spirit Fingers!
