Somewhere along the line, I stopped picking up the brush. It's been about two months and it's taken me a couple weeks of going, "I should really..." to finally actually do something. It just kind of hit me one day that I needed to paint this. So I went out to the garage and dug through my Bones 3 and Bones 4 stash until I found one (I originally had plans for two). I washed it up a few days ago and it sat on the kitchen peninsula waiting for me to get back around to it. I finally gave in last night instead of watching reruns. I didn't do a whole lot: just filled a well in my pallet with water and mixed in some Grey Liner and Wash Medium, and got cracking with a brush! In a freak occurrence that should send me scrambling for a stack of lottery tickets, I made almost the exact perfect amount of slop to cover the entire set! There was just a smidge left over. After that I started pondering color options. I knew I was going to be using my craft paints for this, so I'm pretty limited at the moment with only a couple handfuls of options (most of which are some shade of brown or grey). A few minutes later I decided that my love for Reaper's Redstone Triad by my guide. There are plenty of grey stones out there, and I like to do things a little differently from time to time. Even though my colors aren't quite good matches for the Redstone, I can get the same feel: Chocolate Cherry, Burnt Sienna, and Terra Cotta (I think). So the Chocolate Cherry base coat went down on the stones. I finished the night about two hours in, with all the standing stones (and most of the detritus) coated and the rest given something for a primer coat. I'm calling it a win. With nothing but "The Curse of Oak Island" on tonight, I managed to make it "two in a row!" Nothing much to say. I just grabbed my drybrushes and got to it. Burnt Sienna serves as the midtone and Terra Cotta is the highlight. I'm a little heavy on the highlight, and a little light on the midtone. After that it was Medium Foliage Green for the base. I really need to get the "Dark" and "Light" shades for that. Another couple hours and I'm over halfway to the finish line. I think I'll mix some blue into the Foliage Green to darken it up and use that as a wash on the base, and try some yellow or one of the lighter browns to do a drybrush. Less than five hours in, and nearly finished. It's nothing special, but it works. Thanks for stopping by!

Hello! I recently had my first in-person game in a year and a half, and started getting the yen to paint my vast hoard of unpainted Bones. Having painted a few, I thought of the Forums, and thought - well, I should post them here! I always love to search for other people's paint jobs, perhaps they may want to look at mine. I did, incidentally, participate in Bones V, but I messed up my pledge (I thought I closed it in like October, but apparently didn't,) but it's not like I didn't have enough from II and III. Anyway, this is a sculpt I marked down as "I really want to paint this," -- Olivia. For some reason the look on her face just appealed to me. I generally start off with Brown Liner on my Bones, and in this case that was probably a mistake - since I wanted her to be dressed in a de-saturated yellow robe I never quite got rid of the brown. Ah well. I also tried to make the vial she was holding half-full and look like glass... I think I succeeded but I'd love to know your thoughts. Comments, Criticisms, and advice most welcome!

Greetings! Coral Golem from the "Titans Of The Tide" pack in Bones 3. It was quite tricky trying to determine many of the details on this mini but I got there in the end . Some of them, like the little fish & the sea cucumber were a pleasant surprise! There are areas of UV paint on this mini but I'm afraid I can't get very good pics showing it but the following will give some Idea. If anyone knows how to take a successful pic in low light using a UV lamp, pls let me know & I'll give it a go & post pics. Thanks for looking!

Wanted to use all (most) the colors on my wet palette before I cleaned it... and decided to tackle the Patchwork Gang.

With the tubes carrying fluid, it gave me a reason to try my new colorshift paint from TurboDork that someone on the boards recommended. Seems to work well. It is only a small area, but maybe you can tell in the pics. (3D Glasses is the color).

trying for some texture on this one. then went for a flowered shirt, but it looks like a print on a t-shirt. Now I kinda want to sculpt a watch on him. perhaps he is from a modern Martial art campaign.

I remember buying the avatar set on the last day of the pledge manager. I may have been slightly drunk. #No_regrets. The hippo was one of the first things I painted from the set, finally got around to the elephant this weekend. The colors on the hippo were more fun. real hippos are all over the place, African Elephants are grey, and reflect light from their surroundings and the legs seem too short. its kinda off balance looking.

elder spawn pointed out yesterday that if I finished 1 more mini I would be at 20 for the month. since my fire giantess wasn't going to count as part of the Bones3 push, I swithched to a dwarf. this makes the seventh member of the GoldDigger clan. perhaps I need a snow white, ill question the spawn to a suitable figure.

Well after many years of painting it's my first dragon, although mal is awesome and I got him in the KS I think this guy is my favorite. I like the way the scales are sculpted and the pose is very dynamic. So I base coated the body minus upper jaw and wings with Tamaya gray spray primer and started basecoating with dragon blue, it seemed appropriate ;).

Sometimes an Ogre just has to go clubbing. :-) Tried a different painting technique on this guy and a few others. I think it works reasonably on the skin, but still looks kind of scratchy in some places; murky in others.

I speed-painted this guy for an upcoming encounter because I was surprised not to have a dwarf miniature with a hammer. I really like how he came out, and how the encounter went down. So yay!

SonOfCheese and I spent a few days painting snakes. I decided that my snake, although hooded, was not a cobra. It was just hanging out with its treasures atop a comfortable stone, watching us, and waiting. Eventually I was asked to stop making hissing noises.

Ever since we received our bones 3, I've thought that this guy looked liked Zurg from Toy Story. Today I moded him by removing his shield and helmet decor and gave him a quick paint job with Zurg as my inspiration. Nothing fancy, but my kids love him.

Painted up the largest mini from the Bones 3 Campaign rewards that I received. Thought I'd share. It's big. Really, really big.

I couldn't find an open thread that seemed appropriate, so I'll ask here. I know we are supposed to post part numbers of items in the show off forum; so do the Bones 3 sculpts not yet have part numbers? I am assuming the 3 digit reference number from the Kickstarter is not appropriate.

This was the first bones 3 mini I started and I was very impressed with it, I may go back and revisit some of the highlights but for now it's done ;). Hope you like it.

So a PC needed a mini for a low level fighter type in sub standard gear, this was painted fairly quickly and I skipped a few steps but it gave me a chance to try reapers new verdigis over the NNM copper that came with the KS, I like the effect very similar to vallejos.

The fairy is cool but I thought hmmm probably won't need to paint a fairy, days later friends daughter decides to play a fairy. Limited angles as to not break board rules.
