  1. Despite not having finished my second batch of zombicide abominations, my son has been on me every day since my birthday to work on this piece as he "gave it" to me. Since I fear she's going to take a while since I'm going to really be pushing myself on the skin and the rest, I figure she'll be around a while with breaks to work on other stuff. I also managed to break a piece of the ship while trying to remove the flash so I'll have to do a little repair work on that (put the rest of the ship back in the baggy when it happened as I was really tired at the time and shouldn't
  2. I saw amazing French sculptor Gautier Giroud posting up WIP pics of this amazing bust and knew I just HAD to have him, picked him up from Cinemodeles-creations. He's jumped up in my queue today while I'm home from work on a personal day. Here's the the cast in resin pieces, held together by some blue tack so I could take the pics of the resin - I've used my airbrush for the first time today, primed up Deadpool and 4 giants (the giants first to get the hang of the airbrush). Here's where he's at now - I drilled holes
  3. Well, I'm calling him done. His drool is warping (dry air?) and I keep messing with the tooth but enough is enough. It was a learning experience all round (first bust, first try using WarColour paints, first drool and blood and most of him was painted by airbrush) so I'm calling it a success. Thanks for looking.
  4. Sooo... instead of focusing on my February goals, my ADHD brain has wandered off and pulled this little guy out of his box... I usually fail so badly at these WIP threads as I am terrible at actually finishing my projects but I'm going to try to not over-think this guy and get some paint on him. Hopefully my brain will sort out the base for Cinder while I'm working on something else... He has been primed black and white (zenithal) thus far. Tomorrow, after drywall and mudding work, hopefully will be colors. Thanks for watching.
  5. Finally decided it was about time for me to start another WIP thread. I have not done much since ReaperCon and fell into a major painting rut. I had a bunch of ideas but no energy to actually do anything. I am starting to get back into the swing of things and have quite a few projects on deck. No real deadlines for them, just working on what I feel like it at this point. I would like to finish the Landsknecht and The Grudge in time for the SCAHMS show on the second weekend in April. So here is my current line up of project with the breakdown of what's what below. 1. Vampire Hunter (Re

  7. An overview of my efforts in 2016. Thanks to you all liking, commenting and chatting I've become more productive. Also I feel like I'm improving. Thank you all for your input and silliness. 8. I bought this nice Vinyl RESIN kit from Solarwind. Countess Karnstein. It will take a while before I proceed, But I thought..start the WIP to keep the flow going.. Just a few shots of her compared to Reaper's Elise Pumpkin Witch for size comparison, and a shot next to my ( almost finished ) Legendarion Bust. The Countess is a large Bust.
  9. A really fun little project I couldn't wait to do once SGHawkins was kind enough to give to me at ReaperCon after she saw my disappointment in not seeing it before it was sold out. I also asked Andy (Talespinner) to mod it for me by sculpting on some hair and an evil goatee! Anyhow, here's the "Visitor" that we all may not want as a real dinner guest! The figure is the 2.5 inch resin kit from Collapse Industries, under the title of "Interstellar Interloper Roswell 1947". He is SHINY on purpose. I coated him in realistic water to do this. C&C are welcomed and appreciated!
  10. This is entitled "Hardened Warrior" he is the Barbarian bust by Fantastic Miniatures. I'm bringing him to ReaperCon! C&C are welcomed and appreciated!
  11. So while at ReaperCon this year one of the vendors was selling various sizes of this Collapse Industries Alien Bust. I completely missed out on him and was a bit sad/disappointed about it when SGHawkins showed him to me claiming she purchased the last two of him. When she saw my disappointment, she laughed and tossed one of her two my way. I was super excited, it's outside my genre, but looked like a lot of fun to paint. I was suddenly struck with an idea to give him a bowl haircut and evil goatee. I approached Mori, but she was very busy with classes and art stuff so I figured why not as
  12. Figured I'd go ahead and get started on this for my own and work on him this week while I get ready to do a Commission piece next week. This is the recent Barbarian Bust that I received from Fantastic Miniatures yesterday. I couldn't wait to get started and he's been a lot of fun thus far!
  13. My third and final bust (for now) from Heroes & Villains Miniatures. This one is "Jacobite Highlander: Culloden Moor, 1746." The big challenge here is, of course, going to be the tartans. From my research, it looks like pretty much every piece of the outfit could be a different plaid, but I'm not sure yet if I'm going to leave the shirt and/or jacket a solid color for my own sanity. This is definitely going to be the most extensive freehand I've ever attempted. He also has a few accessories that I haven't attached yet, and even came with another, much angrier and beardier head. I probably
  14. Apologies in advance for the poor pictures, still really struggling when it comes to photographing the larger stuff. Any how, presenting my first attempt at painting a bust, Darkswords Portrait of a Tiefling:- You can find a WIP thread for her here. Don't think she looks too bad, but I'm not sure if I'll get any more busts in the future though, I don't really have the patience or skill to paint this larger scale stuff. As always, any comments of criticisms are greatly appreciated..
  15. This bust arrived on my doorstep the other week, so I decided to take a break from the orc I've been doing to paint a bit on this new piece instead. The figure is Count Melenth from Polaris Minor. The bust is roughly 150-200mm scale. I didn't have a lot of direction with this guy other than the fact that he looks evil. To make things a bit more interesting, I decided to paint some OSL on him. I shifted the primary light source from directly above him to above him and to his left. This casts the right side of his face in shadow, so I added a secondary light source (with a blue tint) be
  16. Yep, I am also jumping on this bandwagon. Haven't painted a bust before, so lets see how badly I screw this up. Got her assembled this morning in the hope of getting started on the painting later today, but I had some gaps to fill (she went together quite well, but my superglue kept drying before I could get the parts completely flush), so I'm leaving the green stuff to dry over night.
  17. Ok, I finished enough to not feel too bad letting her leave the desk and sit on the shelf! Whooo! This is Shennay, one of the busts from the Spanish company AresMythologic. I'm enjoying painting busts so much when I tried to go back to 54 mm this weekend I got irritated that I couldn't put all the detail in the face and eyes like I wanted! Heaven forbid a return to 25 mmm!! She's 1/12th scale resin, comes all in one piece and was fairly easy to prep so she's a friendly starter bust. For this project I decided to practice my transparent cloth, whites, freckles, red hair and TMM. I w
  18. I'm finally abandoning this project!!!! This is Tom Meier's version of Tony DiTerlizzi's painting "Portrait of a Young Tiefling" It's Dark Sword's first foray into busts as far as I know, and it was a joy to paint. Although the sculpt with the base is very vertical, making the overall basing challenging. I ended up just pinning it to as flat a wood base as I could find to keep it from becoming too tall. I have my WIP here if it helps, with the step by steps and all the color info. I'm always happy to answer questions. C&C always welcome! Enjoy!! here's the painting: And t
  19. I posted some images of my sculpting attempts in the Show Off threads. This is the main body and armature for a birdhouse for my grandfather's 80th birthday. He sculpts in the medium of cement and sphagnum moss and builds fantastic faces on cedar roots (and other fun creations). My dilemma is that, while this needn't necessarily be a functioning birdhouse, I'd like it to not weigh 75 pounds in the end. So I'd prefer to lighten my cement mixture with sphagnum/peat moss. But whenever I add even the slightest amount of moss, it turns the end product crumbly... So I've finished this
  20. So, I was looking around, in the mood to paint a bust. Female, hopefully cheap, and something I don't feel weird about putting on my shelf (so no pinupy stuff, and no "adult" busts). ...why can't I find any. The only one that kind of fits is Portrait of a Young Tiefling, but it's definitely not cheap. So I decided to sculpt my own out of Super Sculpey. (See my sculpting thread if you want to look at the raw master for some reason) Hit it with a coat of gray primer and... ew. Did I mention how much I hate SS's transparency? Can never tell when something is smooth. Well whatever
  21. Finally finished! This was my first bust and boy oh boy was he a blast to paint. Thank you to all who followed along with my WIP of this guy. I'm so grateful for everyone's advice and encouragement. Here's the link to the WIP for any interested. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62411-tiniest-paints-a-lion-man-tuma-windrunner/page-23#entry1354489
  22. Adding to the Pride. This fella, I love this fella. Here he is in all his primed glory. Priming him took over an hour, may have been two. Idk, lost track of Time. Reference photos chose this one His shield will be painted like giraffe pelt Pretty beads If I go insane trying to paint this dude...I blame Ub3r.
  23. This is a cast resin flat about three inches tall overall (you're only seeing the head here). I reshaped the nose a bit, enlarged and relocated the eye up and closer to the nose. Also added some additional locks of hair on the near side. Reaper MSPs over Floquil Model Railroad Primer. There is more to the figure; nothing majorly naughty, but the top is a bit sheer. To see the rest of it go here: http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/a-red-headed-lass-flat.77846/ Qs and Cs welcomed. Glen
