  1. I've finally started painting my second faction for MERCS: Recon, the CCC. I'm not sure why, but I keep picking factions with yellow in their official colour scheme. EU had some, but CCC is pretty much all yellow. I don't do a lot of yellow and I'm not really comfortable with it, but I think I managed to do a not-terrible job on these guys, at least so far. There are 5 figures in the squad from the starter box, but I've only gotten two finished so far. But its the end of the month, so for the RPChallenge I'll start a showoff post now, and update when I get the other three finished. This is the CCC Leader, with his scanner for checking the contents of rooms without actually having to breach. He also has a machine gun for when breaching is necessary. The CCC seem quite well geared up on the firepower.... And the Gunner. She is all about the firepower. She wears yellow and she shoots things... For this squad I did switch up the colour scheme a bit. In most of the art work they tend to have a very black or blue-black body suit. I went with the grey brown since I thought it would fit better with all the yellow, and make them look less like bumblebees. I should have the other 3 finished within the next week or two as they are all fairly far along.
  2. Since I was snowed in this weekend I decided to get a start on painting the first wave of stuff from the mercs recon kickstarter. so a quick overview first. There's EU inc, who I assembled but haven't started to paint yet. Then there's Kezai Waza, who are not entirely primed yet. CCC is partly painted. There's also a mountain of secfor. 5 copies each of these 4 sculpts. The men are all primed, and the shotgun guys have their base colors the shotgun women are all unprimed except for the one in the photo, because they kind of have a bad case of no nose. Havent decided if I want to try and sculpt noses back on like I did in this picture, or if I just want to do head swaps last of all there's my favorite group Kemvar. I started with these and they're clearly a lot further along than the others. I am mostly sticking to the official colors except I changed the glow from blue to pink/purple. The heavy with his crazy twin guns. Still needs a lot of shading. The Engineer, a little further along, but still needs some work. The Leader and his sword. He needs more highlights on his green, and on the sword. The assassin. He's pretty close to done, may just neaten up a few panel lines. I also took a picture of him next to his metal counterpart. It really made the transition to plastic pretty well. The shocktrooper here is the reason I started on Kemvar first. She's just such an odd mini I wanted to get started on her.
