  1. This is one of Reaper's older minis, Reaper 2040 Gargoyle. I painted him gray at first, but though it was kinda boring so I used a green glaze on top of the gray. Pretty happy with the effect. The white marble column is too white though, should have been more subdued. Oh well, another one done!
  2. After 6 months of painting 4-10 hours a week on this monster, I am finally finished with Reaper Bones Ma'al Drakar 77580. WIP Here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/78573-citrine-tries-to-tackle-maaldrakar-77580/&tab=comments#comment-1668344
  3. Here are 2 of the pin-up babes from Wargamer LLC's kickstarter Hot & Dangerous. First up Lagertha the Shieldmaiden. I love how her cloak turned out. Not so happy with the face, it look pretty terrible in the photos, its not so bad in hand. I need to get better at thinning my paints I think. Rosie the Bowman (the official name). I did not like the concept art at all, but the finished sculpt turned out great. I love how she has a lot of spunk.
  4. Felicitations on your personal solstice!
  5. I had finished the dragon in December last year, but I still had the base to work on. Finally finished this brand new looking clockwork dragon painted with metallic paints and my favorite blue, Nightmare Black this weekend. I still have another, thinking of doing a rusty/tarnished version sometime.
  6. So this holiday break I decided to try starting, and maybe even finishing Ma'al (Reaper 77580), aka Tiamat. I go back to work next Wednesday, so this is a bit ambitious, but at least I am going to use the biggest brushes I can get my hands on! I got rid of mold lines and glued it together on the Saturday before Christmas. This morning I got up the courage and got out the green stuff. I had started applying base coat when hubby said I should document the progress. So here are some progress pictures:
  7. Reaper Bones 77511 Xiloxoch, Naga So I had grand plans for this mini; washes on the scales and NMM on the headpiece, but alas neither of those came to pass. Like usual, washes hate me, so after a wash attempt that ruined my previous effort at painting the scales, I ended up meticulously painting and shading each scale. I did successfully glaze on the scales at the very end for shading, so i call that a win. Moving on to my grand NMM plan. After painting every scale I was pretty sick of the mini, and it sat untouched for month. Then I had an incident of pouring way too much gold paint into my wet pallet by accident, and used that as an excuse to just finish the mini.
  8. Bombshell Miniatures 10050 Celeste the Sorceress, sculpted by Kev White. I wanted a simple mini with few accessories to paint up as a quick little project, so I picked Celeste for her clean lines. As a bonus I used some of the Breastcancer Awareness Pink I have multiple bottles of. Spent maybe 3 hours on her.
  9. This figure was meant for the fall beauty contest, but I was way slow and finished just a week or so ago.
  10. Finally finished this demon chick (Reaper 77281) to decent tabletop stadard. She had been sitting on my bench half painted a long time. Her face had a flash line on one side, so I tried to make it look like a fresh wound.
  11. Balazar, the gnome summoner (Reaper 89023) was fun to paint. That mould line running down the side of his hat thing was not that visible when I painted him. Oh well, another one done, yay!
  12. All I did was cut off the integral base and glue them on painted bases from CMON. Another 4 done! Reaper Bones: Invisible Rogue 77449 Invisible Wizard 77450 Invisible Cleric 77451 Invisible Warrior 77453
  13. I speed painted Aglanda while helping my son's girlfriend paint her first mini.
  14. This is 01-151 Sea Dragon from Ral Partha, re-released by Iron Wind Metals under the same SKU. I got mine from the Chaos Wars Kickstarter they had a while back. I decided I would be more daring and colorful than I usually paint, and paint this up as a tropical coral reef dragon.
  15. I have 3 of this figure (Reaper Bones 77174 Leisynn, Mercenary Mage), so I decided to remove a bunch of the skulls and make him a druid instead. Since he looks a lot like Tim the Enchanter from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, I decided to name him Tim the Druid. Very happy with the freehand on him, not so happy with the mold line across his face.
  16. These 3 were supposed to be speedpaints, but I ended up dinking way too much on all the little fiddly details. I didn't do a good job trimming mold lines either..... The spearman got his spear straightened with boiling water after he was painted, no ill effects on the paint that I could see.
  17. This is Reaper 3789 Fishwife and Crone. These are the metal versions of the miniatures coming in Bones 4 as part of the Dreadmere set. Painted up for tabletop gaming use. I painted the fish as a delicious deepwater fish from Norway called "Uer". I have fond memories fishing for these at the shore of the Finnmark fjord, where the drop off was extremely deep. I was sad to find these fish are now considered endangered.
  18. These crocodiles have been on my "I want to paint" list for a long time, they finally made it to the front of the line. First up some Ral Partha Crocodiles from the RIver Denizens set (31-033). The set also includes a hippo and a submerged hippo, which is somewhere in the lead mountain. I had picked up an extra crocodile at a convention long ago. I also painted up the Reaper lead Dire Crocodile (65107). I was happy to see his brother in the Bones 4 Kickstarter, it would be swell if this guy made it into bones as well. I was about to start the lead version of the brother as well, when my husband piped up and said he wanted to paint it.
  19. Happy Birthday @Citrine !!! Have a great day!
  20. These are the Wizkids unpainted pre-primed Elf Sorceresses (SKU WZK72606). I painted these up in April, just got around to adding basing and taking photos. For the price I think they are great, but they are definitely not as nicely detailed as the renders. I decided to paint one up in a druidic color scheme. I had issues with her face, since the faces are true scale, not heroic. Not my best face, but its for tabletop, so it will do. Also her hand didn't have any finger definition, so I painted it as a knitted mitten.
  21. After I had painted all the stringy stuff as clothing shreds I realized it was supposed to be seaweed, oops. By then I kinda liked the yellow, so I left it as it was. Edited for grammar.
  22. This is my rendition of Bombshell 10035, Kaitlin the Archer. Nice and clean mini without too many fiddly bits, so she painted up pretty quick.
  23. This ended up being a speed paint, the patterns and fiddly bits just painted up super quick, around 2 hours. I painted her just so I could glue her cloak on. Added two mushrooms I had laying around from previous putty leftovers.
  24. I finished Reaper's Valloa, Female Elf Thief (SKU 3566), a fun little figure with a lot of attitude. I am very happy with the blond hair on this one. Her face was a bit miscast, so her one eye is a bit weird. There had to be some reason she decided on this career choice...
  25. I finished the Marid from Reaper's Pathfinder line in January, finally got around to taking pictures. I had originally decided to have her in green clothes, but when I panted them white in preparation for painting the green I though it looks so good I changed my mind. So she got green hair and white clothes instead of green clothes and white hair.
