  1. Here's an Ogre I've been working on for the longest of times now. I'd get an hour or two here and there and would do a bit on him. I tried to make him kind of dirty looking but not sure how well I succeeded. I was also tempted to try NMM, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm going to look for some fighter in plate mail or something maybe later for that attempt.
  2. Presenting Graghuk, an Ogre I plucked from my big pile of Bones V stuff. This is just a simple mini I've been poking paint at for the last couple of weeks, just to get me painting again, but I don't think he looks too bad. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  3. Presenting a Jungle Elf Warrior from Durgin Paint Forges Elves of Inneath range. Pretty happy with him overall, although he's a little washed out in the piccys (He's got awesome abs in hand!). Gotta remember in future to not use metallics for their face-masks though, it just doesn't work right. As always, and comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  4. I was experimenting with different tones of grey with airbrush zenithals, and oil washes, to try and get the skin looking stone giant-y, yet subtly different and more 'living' than rock. The green gem necklac was a bit of a throwaway idea and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. . . .
  5. Presenting my first finished Bones V Kickstarter mini, the mighty Hercules! I don't get much painting time these days, so he's a little rough and rushed in places, but he's done and he doesn't look too bad. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  6. Considering this is a Reaper forum, I don't post nearly enough Reaper stuff! Going to try remedying that by slowly going through that big box of Bones V I've got perched on top of my stack of unpainted things. I'm starting with Hercules (Didn't expect him to be my first choice, but I have been watching a lot of Greek Myth stuff on Youtube lately):- This is after I've prepped him, primed him, had a second go at the mold-lines (I'm trying to get better at this), re-primed and finally given a Brown Wash. Got a little problem going on with his right arm, from the back it's all bulging muscle, but from the front the gap between his bicep and club is filled in with something. Not sure how to fix this, so I decided to paint it as part of his lion cape (And hope no one notices the two halves don't line up). Huh, mystery solved. Looking at it now in these piccys, I can see that weird bit of arm is actually his thumb. Painted his lion cape first (I'm a messy drybrusher). This was a base of Iraqi Sand/Ochre Yellow, then a Brown Wash, then drybrushes of Iraqi Sand/Ochre Yellow and Iraqi Sand/Ochre Yellow/Bonewhite. While the mane and tail end were a base of Iraqi Sand/Ochre Yellow/Leather Brown, Brown Wash and drybrushes of Iraqi Sand/Ochre Yellow/Leather Brown and Iraqi Sand/Ochre Yellow/Leather Brown/Bonewhite. Finally, it got Bonewhite claws, Dwarf Skin paw pads and then everything got Sepia Wash. While I'm on the computer I need to see if lions have special noses, if not then tomorrow I start on the skin of Hercules!
  7. Hello everyone, here is the last of the four amazing ogre from Bobby Jackson. This one is 44006, Garghuk Ogre Chieftain. All painted with Reaper MSP paint and mounted on a 50mm wide base. Group picture form left to right; 44006 Garghuk Ogre Chieftain, 77454 Ogre Clubber, 77456 Ogre Guard and 77455, Ogre Smasher.
  8. Presenting Brutogg Corpse-Eater, my first finished adventurer from the game Cursed City by Games Workshop. Had a lot of fun painting this guy, I experimented by giving him grey-hued skin to represent his unhealthy eating habits (he eats zombies) and it worked better than I thought it would. Annoyingly though, I had to leave the bits under his coat unpainted (just couldn't get a brush up there), nobody will notice unless they turn him upside down, but it still bothers me that he's technically "Unfinished". As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  9. With the Borderlands so infused with the reality-altering power of The Void, mutants and people with extraordinary powers are quite commonplace. While some settlements cast out those that are different (a decision they usually live to regret), most are more welcoming, when you live in a world where everything is trying to kill you, any help is appreciated no matter how strange the source. Presenting the Ringtail Vixen, a special character in the game Kingdom Death:- Monster. Her heightened reflexes and superior strength come in handy when fighting giant monsters. I have fairly mixed feelings about this one, I'm happy with some parts like her tails and leggings, but not so much with others like her face (I'm really starting to struggle with these smaller faces) and her club (I never did figure out a decent colour to paint it), but overall she doesn't look too bad. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  10. Here is a lizard man I painted recently. I actually finished him a while ago but I didn't post him because there was someone else's posted that day that was much better than mine and I was embarrassed . So here he is now. I am quite happy with the color on his chest. I didn't want him to have a straight yellow chest because that would look too contrasty and cartoony so I used some yellow in a glaze medium and put it on. It was kind of chalky so I need to be looking at getting different yellow paint. The close pics show the flaws and chalkiness but from a foot and a half away it looks amazing to me. The underside of the tail is still straight yellow basecoat because I was getting lazy. I am quite happy with him and please let me know what you think!
  11. Greetings! I really like this Lizardman sculpt - he's equipped for many battle types, he was a joy to paint. Thanks for looking!!
  12. Reaper Miniatures 77231, Rugg Bugbear Leader, Dark Heaven Bones sculpted by Tre Manor.
  13. So, here is the second Reaper Bones that I have painted to completion. The only other one was a Chibi Mummy which I thought was a fun figure. So I'm not going to lie, I'm not super fond of the Bones material, I much prefer metal, but Gene Van Horne did such a beautiful job on this sculpt, I really wanted to paint it. Also, as has been mentioned so many times with Bones, with a larger figure, the detail seems to come out a lot better than with small pieces. With this figure, there was so much detail in her armor, with the metal, and strings and such, afraid I probably didn't hit it all, but did what I could. So here she is, hope you enjoy!
  14. This is the Ogre Smasher from Bones 3. I think all of the ogres from Bones 3 are awesome sculpts! This guy has a "hand" bag and likes to go clubbing.
  15. It's not a purse. It's European! Sometimes, one simply must bring a snack when going clubbing. It works up quite the appetite. This Ogre's snack however is quite literally finger-licking good.
  16. This Ogre is quite chill. He's just lounging around with the club, ready to throw down but not in too big a hurry to. He has his swagger on, and is wearing his neck bling. Oh, and is that a magical pager on his belt?
  17. "Remember that just because I'm blue does not mean I'm made of water. All that squashing of adventurers into Tiny bits can definitely bring out one's thirst. That's why I drink Ogre-Aid(tm) from my shot glasses made from the skulls of my enemies! It slakes my thirst and restores electrolytes, but without all those nasty carbs. Do you think I got this ripped drinking colas?" :-)
  18. This Ogre struggles every day with his bizarre deformity. Fortunately, he was raised by a forward-thinking tribe who provided him excellent dental care and outfitted him with scale mail, a masterwork club, and lots of bags. Now all grown up, he shuffles along striking fear into the hearts of his proud tribe's enemies!
  19. Thread title pretty much sums it up. This is Callus the Renegade from Black Orc’s Hundred Kingdoms, sculpted by Jason Wiebe: There is is a lot going on here, from chain, scale, and plate to all the spangly bits and Things on Belts. Tried to add some variety of color where possible. Not sure what actual colors were worn by Roman soldiers, but red is popular among cosplayers according to Google. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t purple at least. Turns out Dark Elf Skin is a pretty good approximation of actual gorilla flesh. It also seems that brown is not a popular color for actual gorilla fur, but whatever. I was unsure just what that thing in his left hand is, so I imagined it as some sort of monkey-headed scepter, and painted it up in Dragon Copper and Antique Gold. Mostly as an excuse to try out some GW verdigris. I probably miffed the placement, but it’s a neat effect. Very much a “nasty old penny” look. Did I mention this guy is big? Here he is alongside Miss Forscale the Strumpet: Comments and critiques appreciated!
  20. It has been a while, but I am back with another mini from Reaper. This time its a Blood Stone Gnome, which I tried to paint up as a goblin. Hope you all like it. Any C&c is welcomed.
  21. The first of my ogres. He looks like he probably smells pretty bad.
  22. I like the idea of yellow and orange skinned ogres and I've seen a few before. This is my first foray into yellow skinned ogre territory and I liked highlighting Witt a mix of orange and shading with a bit of green. This was a heavy one though, so I'll be looking forward to the bones ones coming soon (tm). I stamped some green stuff for the base and sculpted a couple extra bits while I was at it. It's supposed to be a bit of cloth and some rope. Also there is a pile of round objects that honestly looks like massive deer poo. Well, why not? Painted the cloth red, which maybe makes it stand out a little too much. I'd appreciate any feedback or advice on what to improve before I get started on the bones 3 ogres. thanks for looking!
  23. My latest project, complete. You can find the WIP thread here. I did an experiment, using ridges of dirt flocking to hold in water effects. It actually worked out reasonably well, though next time I'll know to build up the rest of the base more. I also decided this one was female, on the basis that she's noticeably larger than the other two. I'm rather happy with how the shield came out here. It looked a bit like a horseshoe crab to me, so I wanted to make it look nice and chitinous, as though she tore it from the back of some great swamp arthropod. My first freehand. It was supposed to be an anchor-shaped tattoo to start with, but I messed that up, and decided to just go with an abstract design. I cheated on the pupils for these guys. I bought a micron pen, and it worked out rather well. I probably would have gone with a solid color for the eyes, otherwise. This was the only one to have any sort of decoration on his integral base. The others are pure broccoli, but he's got a little plant on his. Gave it a nice pale green color to contrast with his scales. The color is actually a mystery paint Reaper sent me. I actually have two bottles of the stuff, from two orders from around the same time. I'll be sad when it runs out. It's a very nice color. And here we have his turtleshell shield. I actually looked up pictures of real turtles and cobbled together characteristics of several species for the color selection and pattern. And here's the whole happy family, together. Touching, really.
  24. Do you think this guy (these guys?) killed one of Fulumbar's (77011) brothers? He's got that tankard shield... Those could be dwarf hands around his neck. I imagine that must smell pretty bad.
  25. I went for my good old, Black, Red, Grey, Metal paint scheme that I used to paint all my green skins in.
