  1. So, I'm not gonna lie. At least half the reason I backed the Rising Sun kickstarter last year was simply to get my hands on this miniature. It was gorgeous, and I've been itching to paint up an Oriental lung dragon. Back in the heady days of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition, I got into RPGs, and the Monster Manual portrayed the Gold Dragons as the serpentine, Oriental dragon types, and I have always felt a strong level of appreciation for that aesthetic specifically for the gold dragon. I got the KS about two weeks ago, have already played it twice with friends, and having finished my massive T'Raukzul, I decided to go ahead and paint the monsters from the Rising Sun core game. I knocked it out in 2 days. Enjoy, and I'm happy to hear about where I could improve.
  2. I finally finished the 3rd figure included from the "La Brise Sanguine" hero box which is for the Rum and Bones game by Cool Mini or Not. I really tried to go out of my comfort zone in terms of colour and free-hand design and contrast.
  3. So I pledged to the Massive Darkness Kickstarter from Cool Mini or Not. Honestly I had forgotten how much swag I was going to get, as evidenced by showing up at the Post Office after work to pick up my box and it was huuuge! I dragged it to the train station somehow and my partner actually met me there so he could carry it home for me. (I swear love is a partner helping you carry your board games and supporting your obsession.) The struggle is real! My room mate's cat was very interested in the content of said box. Oh, this is why the box was so dang heavy. It has all of the things. I've never painted such a big pile of the same minis before, so I have separated my villains from the main box and am going to paint those first in a factory-line kinda manner so whip them all out fast. I also won't be as pedantic as I can be with my single minis, I want them to look good on the table but I won't get too caught up spending 4 hours painting one face. Think I may also invest in some spray-on primer, I am using the Reaper brush on primer (after filing down any mold lines, etc) which works well but takes some time to apply.
  4. It took me about 8 months to complete my Super Dungeon Explore Set. I was excited enough about this to build a lightbox and try to take proper photos of them. I had only painted maybe two dozen minis or so before I started this project so you can definitely see my skill improve over the course of the project. You can see all the photos on my flickr, but I've put a few of my favorite below. Comment. Criticize. Hurl broken glass. Whatever seems appropriate.
