Was so glad to find this figure to use as one of the final bad guys in my kids current campaign. Not altogether happy with how the tentacles turned out and I still can't do smooth transitions from dark to light on cloth (well, anything), but overall, quite happy with how this turned out. Lets see the little sods darlings backstab this one and dispatch him in two rounds.....

This is the Crimson Herald, a Reaper Bones Black figure. I didn't have a color scheme going into this big bad boy. Sadly the photos REALLY don't do it justice and I do have a video I am getting ready to post to youtube. This whole thing was like a Bob Ross Saved it moment for me. I grabbed paint throwing all caution to the wind and was like "ITTTTSSSSS FIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNEEEEEE" {its fine} Spoiler. It wasn't fine. So I painted the body With Citadel Hex Wraith Flame. The entire time after i was just like "oh god... what have i done! its a lime green wraith thing...." Luckily I had a bottle of Citadel Technical paint "Soulstone Blue" which weirdly enough I realized "i used technical paint... which doesn't dry normally very thick... and my solution is to use MORE paint that doesn't dry thick to make a thick paint? am i mad?!" Answer yes, but the photographs show im not without some merit to my madness.

I decided to paint my ‘Crimson Herald’ as more ‘King in Yellow’. First figure I’ve painted in a while but I’ve been meaning to try this color scheme on him since I picked him up.

Painted up this Lich using washes and coloured primer again. Then applied lots of pastels for a desaturated grimy look. The base is gloss mod podge over dark blue grey, with some sweepings from a bag of logs stuck on whilst wet, and the whole thing given an umber wash when glue was dry. Really love this figure and again good to see it in Bones and as a one piece mini.

Because I couldn't not start a new project (or two of you count the Halloween Knight) days before ReaperCon... Kinda liking the Orange to Green to Purple of the tentacles. Needs cleaning up though. And these are the colors used so far. Sideways apparently...

Well, I finally got to a point on these where it would be worth it to post. These are my major projects that I will be working on for the next few months and all four are planned ReaperCon entries. Right now there is not much to see as they are just at the primer stage but the bases are built and also ready for paint. So from left to right we have the Dark Elf Assassin from Scale 75, Tarko from Scale 75's Fallen Frontiers line, Dark Sword's Wood Elf Warrior, and Reaper's own Crimson Herald. Please excuse the blurry pics, I am cleaning my apartment and this was the best place to take pics.
