Hello everyone, I'm mostly done with the second Ogre, I just need to do some touch ups. It's clubbing time, the Ogre way! This one is the 77454, Ogre Clubber sculpted by Bobby Jackson. I swapped the top of its club with that of the 77455, Ogre Smasher. I also added a skull at his waist belt on the left side. Gudridr the Golden by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor Hope everyone enjoys this one. This was a resin miniature from the kickstarter. The base is MDF that I cut in half with my scalpel then applied Greenstuff/Epoxy to and sculpted the brink pattern. The rocks on top are actual rocks and sand. FYI - because it's resin on an MDF base with greenstuff it's super light weight. I didn't like the idea of adding height to the miniature by just sculpting the brink on top of the standard MDF base. My solution is as you can see. I tired going simpler in the color scheme with this one and I think it turn out great.

I picked up Nethyrmaul to be a cohort for a major undead villain in my Pathfinder campaign, and decided that I really liked the idea of her slaying a Silver dragon and reanimating it as an evil zombie minion, so, I tried my hand at a bit of a NMM(ish) silver scale pattern with a little bit of actual metallic silver thrown in to a few places. He was a long time in completing, the process, but I'm really happy with him. I'm especially fond of the "dragon graveyard" base that he's standing on. The skulls are from a "Prehistoric Mammal Skulls" Toob pack I picked up at the local arts and crafts store. The ribs rising out of the ground are actually the teeth of a plastic alligator clip I grabbed from a grocery store, and the extra rocks are actual rocks and debris from the broken pavement outside my house. He's mounted on a 7" diameter wooden base. I appreciate your looks and comments. I'm still figuring out some of the things I'm working on with this sort of thing.

Finished this one up today, Been working on him a little at a time to get it done for a small competition that required painting a mini that was over 20 years old. Happy with how it turned out, as well as the Khornate Icon he's standing on. Learned a lot from what was my first real base scratchbuild. A friend of mine gave me #77380, "Khanjira, World-Breaker" as a gift over the holidays, and challenged me to work it into our ongoing Iron Kingdoms RPG campaign. The thing is, I think it looks rather like an oversized deathclaw, so I might like to use it for some of my Fallout-themed convention games. Hence, I wanted to try to make it do double-duty in both roles. Also, I wanted it to be able to stand up, rather than falling over due to its own dynamic pose and considerable weight when someone bumped the table. So, here's where it is right now. Yeah, I know, I could've taken a bunch of pictures of all the steps to get this far. That would have been the sensible thing. But this is the first point where I really find myself wondering what to do next. Right now, he's big and green, with horns and claws that are basically black but with some grey-blue dry-brushing (that unfortunately just makes it look as if the claws were accidentally brushed with whatever I was using to paint the base). All in all, it's surprisingly boring. And yet, a lot of the Khanjira paint jobs I've seen just look kind of garish, and that's not quite what I want to go for, either. Getting the thing assembled was a challenge. I boiled water, I dunked pieces, I tried to reshape them, and yet I couldn't quite get things to STAY fitting together. I used epoxy putty for gap-filler and to anchor pieces together, but even after I've assembled it and I THOUGHT I had things nicely bonded together, it seems that some of the pieces have warped a little more while I've been painting, and some of the seams have started to show again (with some of the putty breaking away). Argh! I ended up having to pull some of the pieces apart so that I could re-glue them, but I still need to repair the newly-exposed gaps (and then paint over them). I can also see from this photo that I need to shave down some of those seams, as there's a rather glaring one on top of one of the shoulder-guard shell-thingies. (I seem to be having difficulty attaching more than one photo to this post, so I'll have to follow up with separate entries for the other images.)

There I was the hobby store, I had the bones version in my hand when I ran across the metal Pathfinder version, I opted for metal. Still working out my NMM, planning on some color glazing before it's done. I also decided that this dude gets an elaborate base. I don't play with my figs, so they will all be getting the advanced base treatment. I also decided to play with green stuff for the first time. I only have pics of the helmet mods right now, but there's more (next post). Thank's for droppin in and checkin this out, what do you think?

I recently modified and painted the 14225: Ra'am, Reptus Hero figure for use as a D&D 5e character. Character Inspiration: Race: White Dragonborn Class: Barbarian Background: Pirate Place of Origin: Luskan, City of Sails I did many modifications to represent this character. Base: is scratch-built from polystyrene to represent the gunwale of a Viking longboat. The water is sculpted milliput. The bag is a plastic piece from some 1:72 scale minitaure kit. The rope is a coil of Gale Force 9 product. Weapons: The sword is a reaper sword from a weapons blister can't remember which one. I notched it with a round file to give it a serrated back edge. The javelins are scratch-built with polystyrene rod and string. The javelin quiver is scultpted milliput. Shield: I took strips of polystyrene and bonded them together to make the planks of the shield. I used thin sheet polystyrene to make the outer skin of the shield and placed gouges in it to reveal the planks below. Brass Key: A large key made from bent wire and polystyrene hangs from a cord around his neck. This is a bit of backstory character detail. I use primarily Vallejo and reaper paints thinned with glass cleaner (Windex). The miniature has dynamic pose that gives it so much life. As I was looking for a figure for this character, I was instantly drawn to the idea of my dragonborn pirate leaping over the side of a gunwale to board an enemy ship. Overall, it was a very fun project. I think I took the figure in a whole new direction, and I am pleased with how it turned out. Original miniature for comparison:
