  1. So I really like board games with cool minis. Two of the board games that I’ve spent the most time playing are Kingdom Death: Monster and Super Dungeon Explore! Both are great games with fantastic minis- although the tones each use could hardly be farther apart. The developers of these games know each other, and When both games went to Kickstarter, they took the opportunity to do a cool cross over. So means that we got a really cute chibi of the Twilight Knight. She makes a great mini, and I’d have been happy to leave it off there, but the fluff on her card implies that if those super cute Super Dungeon characters go into the Nether Rift in their seting, they end up in the brutal and bloody hell world of Kingdom Death. So I got to thinking about this, and decided that I really needed to expand on this idea of the cute little chibis on the Planes of Faces. Yes, these are all playable, and I'm going to continue to create Chibi versions of Kingdom Death monsters.
  2. I recently got into miniature painting, and the Mousling Ranger & Yeoman was my first completed mini! 🙂 Because I didn't have a base in the size I needed, I sculpted the base using cardboard and milliput. I then added orchid bark, grass and flower tufts, and long grass flock. The biggest mistake that I made while painting these was not thinning out my paint enough. Or at all… 🙃 While I was able to get fairly thin layers without water or a medium, there were a few spots that had some awful texture. Lessons learned. And while I can see that there are some things that I definitely need to improve on, I don’t think it is really all that bad for my first mini.
  3. I saw the Rocky miniatures, and with how cute they are I could not resist getting one to use as a dragon to send against my players. As such, here is my take on the Flying Rocky, as a juvenile Red Dragon! Comments, criticisms and advice as ever more than welcome!
  4. Evil has many faces, even when it is kind of cute. Here are some of the generals working under the Dark Consul. They represent the highest caliber of evil in Super Dungeon Explore. This is a set of bosses for Super Dungeon Explore that I painted for a client.
  5. This was the last mini I finished painting in 2019, I finished it around 10 pm on New Years Eve. This is also my first Chibi, I painted her very close to the box art, but I didnt quite get the right shade of light blue, and her hair is more golden rather than pink in the art. Still happy with her.
  6. This is Ametrine.e looked more like a gnome to me than a dwarf.more so the next time I paint her, we'll see what we end up with! She is incredibly cute and a lot of fun!
  7. I could have sworn I had started a thread already. Ah, well. Here's a drawing I did related to a vampire game, with an enlarged detail to show pencil work. It's 5 inches by 8 (12.7 x 20.3 cm). The detail is about 1.75 x 2 inches (4.4 x 5 cm).
  8. Here is another beekeeper. I love mouselings! I gave this one a honeycomb pattern on his cloak. It's not perfect but it it is so small, I am not unhappy with it. And I learned some things to help me the next time. So here he is, Grumble & Bumble.
  9. Recently finished this for @Kangaroorex had a lot of fun playing with the spring theme and a monster. Also first time I've tried to build a flower (wire with paper wrapping for leaves, heavier paper for flower itself, and magicsculpt for some of the other details). Mama Werecroc with baby Croc, watering a swampflower.
  10. I had paint day today and wanted to paint something I could finish pretty quickly since I will be leaving for vacation. I chose the mouseling sorcerer. Had some fun with him! Here is Dumble Doormouse!
  11. Here are the mouseling druid and beekeeper. The beekeeper will eventually go in a diorama once I get it finished. These were fun to paint and pretty quick. The beekeeper is the mini for the Reaper Facebook Quarterly Contest. Since I am not entering, I can show mine! I was going to do a green cloak on the druid but he reminded me so much of an Ewok....well, you see what happened. They are adorable!
  12. This was my entry for the Quarterly Painting Contest on Facebook. I pictured him as some twisted villain's pet so he got a food dish and a toy! (Officially known as the Tennis Ball of Fetching!) I have a love of puns and F-eye-do cracked me up so I had to paint his name on his food dish. I made him removable from the funny base and also made the ball removable. This way he can still chomp adventurers! The contest was a blast and out of 70 entries, no two were painted alike. So many color schemes and different eyeballs! It makes me want to get a lot more eyebeasts and recreate some of the awesome paint jobs from the contest. (My players might cry! I fully expect one of their characters to purchase a ball and carry it around in their packs...just in case!) Thanks for looking and C&C welcome!
  13. My wife told me that it is her favorite of the toppers I've made. I suppose she's not alone in that, since another couple requested one. Here they are. I'll probably need to make one to keep sometime, maybe for our anniversary (we decided that Cortana was a good enough name for our daughter, after all).
  14. I don't usually post my non-Reaper minis here, but I wanted to share this one with you all. This is Princess Malya, Questing Knight and her cypher Mr. Tomm from Relic Knights. She was the first of the new resin minis from Soda Pop Miniatures that I got my hands on, and is a beautiful sculpt and was fun to paint. I agonized over the last little bit, and between never getting to play Relic Knights and this model’s rules being garbage, she slept on the shelf of shame, waiting for her Prince Charming to show up. I finally finished her off last month, so she can join Mr. Tomm, who’s been done for a year now. In case the inspiration isn’t obvious, I’ve based her paint job on Alice from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. The base is one of my favorite parts, and I love how it came out – you can even see a bit of reflection in some shots. I definitely got fed up with the dress at points, and just had to leave it in order to move on, but overall am fairly happy. The white in particular, I probably could have redone it using some of the tips from Jen Greenwald’s class that I took last year.
  15. So, recently, I enjoyed visiting twitter (something I never really do and am honestly uncertain if "visiting" is even the right word to employ...showing my age, I know...) and looking at the pictures from the Cute Animal Tweet Off. It made my day! A bight a cheery bit of internet amid the dark an depressing wintery mix around it. I feel inspired to start our own miniature version of this! Let's have a game! Post pictures of cute miniatures we find all around the internet. They can be your own work, so someone else's, just make sure to credit the source! And have fun!!! Bring joy to others through the power of CUTE! Here's one I've always loved: Ali Bailey's version of the Easter Mousling. Soooooo cute!!!!
  16. I have painted up a half dozen of the Mouslings from the Bones II Kickstarter for characters in a game with lots of odd races. This one is a hunter / falconer, except it uses a bee instead of a bird of prey. WIP thread here. Other figures in this group: Yeoman "Robin Hood", Druid, Ranger With Bow, Thief, Assassin
  17. This is a little assassin Mousling, the second of six Mouslings I've painted for a seriously multispecies campaign. WIP thread here. Other Mouslings in this group: A Yeoman, A Ranger, A Thief, A Beekeeper-Falconer, and A Druid
  18. Morning all (or at least it's morning here in Maine). I finally got around to painting a Mousling, and I might be hooked! This little fellow took less than an hour, not including his base, but I was pretty pleased with the results. I love his mildly-grumpy expression: this is one barkeep who doesn't want to hear about your problems. Thanks for looking!
  19. So here's a pleasant little chibi elder god that I got painted up a little while ago. I decided to open his eyes a little (elder gods don't always have to sleep, right?)
  20. Check out my figure and lemme know what you think! http://lobsterrapist.deviantart.com/art/Fluffy-the-Conqueror-414254881
