Just getting back into D20 gaming, and I've recently became a big fan of the Reaper Mini line. Just wanted to show off some work I've done in the past month or so. All have been painted with acrylic and clear coated with rust-oleum matte clear enamel for some durability for table top gaming. I borrowed some of the paint schemes from internet finds and other i just winged from what colors I liked. Any ways here's the minis.

This miniature I've had for a while, since about 2008. I tried painting her a while ago, but I got stuck. I don't know about the rest of you, but I find painting horses to be very difficult - mostly because my colours just never seemed quite right. In November, I had to lay in supplies for over winter and that meant buying the last of my paint restocks from Coat D'Arms. While I was there, I noticed in their military line they had some Horse Tone colours. I figured, hey, why not? At least they'd probably wind up the proper colour. So Ms. Redstorm here was my first try using Coat D'Arms 224 Horst Tone Bay. The other horse tones are Dun, Chestnut, and Roan. If anybody is interested in seeing these in use, I have a number of horses and will be ordering more in a few days so I can do a WIP to show the different ones. Having pre-mixed horse colours simplifies the task quite a lot, and four colours is enough to add variety to a mounted group. I really enjoyed painting this miniature, and I never thought painting a horse would be so much fun. Also, if you're wondering why I filed off the intricate design of her shield that shows in store photos it's because her on-foot version (Vanessa of the Blade) I painted some time ago came with some pitting on the shield. As it was not enough to really bother complaining about, I merely filed it off and painted a simple quartered pattern. Since the mounted version should match my footed version, I did the same here. So if you want to see a WIP of the horse tone colours, let me know! I'll pick 4 Reaper horsepeople out of my collection when the new ones come in and paint 'em up.

I've been collecting minis for almost 30 years and finally getting around to doing what I've been wanting to do which is actually paint them. Started a couple months ago with a few Dark Sword Critter Kingdom minis and an old Grenadier dragon. And now this, which is my first Reaper mini and an attempt at NMM. C&C welcome.

I still don't have replacement brushes, but I've been getting oddly useful results from my u-shaped brush and managed to heal a W&N Series 7 00 enough to help the terrible brush along. I'd rather fight them a bit than take a painting break, because I've been going gangbusters since about mid-december. I might fall out of the groove if I take a few days off. Since it's been a while since I last did a WIP, and as this one is very fresh and untouched, I thought I'd post her up as I went along. I think you can see the rather large mold lines on the inside of her shield. That's going to be trouble, but I think it's worth it. I'm always a sucker for a nice Sandra Garrity fightin' lady. I've already been picking at it, so she should be ready for primer soon.

So this is my entry for the May FB contest. I wanted to make a statue for our Mummy's Mask Pathfinder campaign and he does an awesome job! I'm actually thinking about getting a couple more and doing a little conversion maybe. He's weathered as he's been standing out in sand storms etc in the desert, but he's still fairly "young" so has retained a lot of his colour/paint/gilding. At least that's the idea. Anyway pics:

Completed Ghost King. I added a good bit of "necrotic green" wash between the armor plates, over the chain mail, and to the base underneath his robe. I think it turned out pretty well. There's a few unpainted spots I can see on the pictures way down underneath, but I'm not terribly worried about them because I can't even see them when I'm holding the mini up in natural light. Camera flash is very unforgiving. Next up is the Whispering Tyrant. WIP thread here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/64985-undead-lords-2-ghost-king/#entry1243291

Second member of my undead quadrumvirate; the Ghost King. I'd say I'm about 70% finished with him. Same green mix from my Lich (what I've been thinking of as "necrotic green") was used for all the places I could think of where light would leak out from the armor, robe, or skull. He may look a bit wet in the pictures, because his second coat of Reaper black ink was still drying when I took them.

"When a powerful spellcaster with a strong personality, a lust for life, and a remorselessly evil soul dies and is buried in a graveyard infused with eldritch magic, a strange phenomenon sometimes occurs. The flesh of the decaying body fats and instructs the very worms that gnaw, and these graveworms quicken not only on corruption but upon the spellcaster’s memories and magical power. The spellcaster’s very soul is consumed in this vile process, only to be split apart to inhabit each of the individual chewing worms in so many fragments. The result is a hideous hive mind of slithering life known as a worm that walks—a mass of worms that clings to the vague shape of the body that granted it this new existence, and can wield the powers and magic the spellcaster had in life. A worm that walks retains memories of its life as a spellcaster before its death, but is not undead—it is a hideous new form of undulant life." --Pathfinder Bestiary 2 WIP thread: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/64949-the-worm-that-walks-satheras-elf-warlock-conversion-project/

Speed paint of the Mocking Beast bones mini, aka the Mimic. Metallic silver is Vallejo Model Air Steel, which is amazing. It just flows on and covers really nicely in one coat straight out of the bottle.

Forgive the poor quality of this; I'm both getting back to painting after a bit away and am taking pictures with my cell, so they aren't going to be super-pretty. Not sure how I would make them look less terrible with what I have available, but I would happily accept pointers! Anyway, this is my attempt at Nonalla. I really like this sculpt, but I like less what I did with it. Very monotone. I may strip and repaint her and try making her more colorful.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I've been going through some of my oldest Reaper Miniatures and finally (finally!) getting them painted. I'm pretty happy with the results (I consider my target level as "Tabletop+"), but I wouldn't mind some feedback on where I could improve. I used the old Reaper Dark Heaven rulebook for guidance on the character, and Montrig the Bloody is described as covering himself in the blood of his foes, and having an especially gore-encrusted pick. I tried to make it look like older dried blood haphazardly applied to his front, but left the back sides "clean". I'm actually surprised at how nicely the pick turned out! As a side note, when I looked up the figure in the Reaper Store it was shown with a mace. I'm not sure if the figure was changed at some point, but I seem to have the "original" version.

So, these are my first two completed BONES minis. The Fire Giant queen and an Orc that was too big to fit on a 30mm base, so he became an Ogre instead. Sorry for the bad photos, the Fire Giant queen was varnished with her first coat of gloss before I remembered to take any (and my photography skills leave a lot to be desired). C&C welcome.

With this Dwarf, I conclude my painting for the year. This brings me to a grand total of 701 minis completed this year.

This was done a couple weeks ago for a dear friend's birthday. She wanted cat ears added to the mini, and chose the color palette.

Haven't had much time to paint lately, what with the newest addition to the family and all (it's a girl!), but here are some that I managed to finish before the baby came. The two on the left are Hell Dorado figures, Ashoka and Imperial Sentinel, respectively. And the bow-toting bag of bones there is a classic Reaper Dark Heaven skeleton. The Hell Dorado figures could stand to be touched up; there's a few dings and spots where the paint has rubbed away slightly. Of course, feel free to click the thumbnail for a slightly better view.

Hi guys! This my first post in the forums. I've been painting off and on since Ral Partha but have recently gotten back into the hobby in a big way. Anyway, here's Brandle Birchstaff painted in black. I know the staff isn't birch per se, but c'est la vie.

Like the thread title says, I pledged the Reaper Miniatures kickstarter campaign (one of the most successful in kickstarter history) at the "Vampire" level, and I just got my Kickstarter Sophie the succubus in the mail. Sophie the Succubus is a bonus limited edition figure available to donors who donated at the "Vampire" level and above. I opened it up (maybe that was a mistake, not keeping it in mint condition...) and it's a great little figure, let down by some unfortunate assembly quirks. On the good side, the figure is very characterful. The wings fit very snugly, and want to stay even without glue, although obviously you'll need to glue it to join them to the body permanently, but the join is very snug. Some complaints though; the point of contact for the wheel to attach to the bike forks is frustratingly small, and there's no good point of contact. I don't think the wheel will stay glued to the forks, You're going to have to glue this model to a base, it's not staying together any other way. Sophie also doesn't seem to have a set point of contact to sit on the bike. I mean, you can make a good guess, but it's not exact. A small peg and hole to join the two parts would have been helpful. Finally the handlebars. In a word, they stink. Sophie is waving her hands in two different directions, neither of which is conducive to getting her to grip the handle bars. It's not a question of turning the handlebars either. Either you have to bend her arms, or the forks, or something, Very disappointed. A very good limited edition figure, let down by poor assembly. What about you guys, how are your Kickstarter Sophies coming along? --Chris www.chrisvalera.com
