This guy was fun! My first pass at the base, however, looked a little too much like hell arriving at a parking lot, so I had to figure something more out. Eventually I decided on sand and glue to make lava glorps that I could break up the flatness with. Shooting the OSL was interesting. The figure has great front vs back contrast which I just can’t seem to capture with pictures. I think the little bugger may have cursed me just for kicks. As always comments and criticism is welcome!

Hi all you fine Reaper folk and folkette! So this next miniature, which I finished up a few days ago, I've actually painted with a special purpose in mind. Melissa Noe, the wife of Mike Noe, the president and one of the owners of Iron Wind Metals, which was formerly as many of you know Ral Partha, has come down with brain and lung cancer, and with all the medical treatment comes a large amount of medical bills. A GoFundMe.com page was set up, which I'll put here, hopefully not violating any forum rules, where if anybody was interested, they could certainly donate. Mike and Melissa Noe Go Fund Me I myself am not much in a position where I can just send cash, but it did occur to me that if I was to paint the proper miniature and threw it up on auction on EBay, maybe I could raise some money this way and send it over to Mike and Melissa, two very kind persons that I've worked with and collaborated with over the years, visiting a number of occasions their factory, doing some little projects for them, and doing a lot of painting for their web page. You can easily find him out there on EBay with the key words Ral Partha Molydeus . So when I chose this miniature, I went for something that I thought would be rare enough, and "impressive" enough, to hopefully generate some interest. Over the years I've seen this piece on EBay for crazy amounts so figured he'd be a good candidate. So with that in mind, behold Molydeus, sculpted by Jim Johnson for Ral Partha's TSR Planescape line back in the nineties. There apparently aren't that many of him around any more, so I'm hoping that a few people might fancy the idea of having one of the few hanging out there, complete and in my super humble opinion decently painted. He's on a ten day auction, and whatever money is made from his sale will go directly to Mike and Melissa to help cover their medical bills that have been slowly accumulating. Even if the auction itself doesn't interest you, please take the time to go over to Mike and Melissa's Go Fund Me page, and if the spirit strikes. you, any donation that you could send them would certainly help them out. So with that I shall close, hope you all enjoy, thank you very much for reading this, and we'll see how this all goes in ten days time! Mark

I've been a fan of Wildspire miniatures for a while, now. They're not always the most detailed sculpts, but they feature a ton of whimsy (which I enjoy). Their last Kickstarter was also full of fun, light hearted characters...and this metal AF Arch Devil from out of the blue! I instantly fell in love with his design - the belt of heads, the big mouth/teeth in his stomach, his pissed-off face...they really outdid themselves. With him being so big, my plan was to start the skin tone at Ratskin Flesh and gradually work my highlights up to a straight orange. I mathed out all my mixtures using every bit of information I learned about fractions and ratios in the 7th grade (in order to get the smoothest possible transitions without doing something like wet blending). In the end, though, I only got do get through about 5 of my 9 planned layers before I just ran out of space to put paint. If I had it to do over again, I'd have sacrificed some of the gradualness of the layering in favor of a lighter results on the highlights. Oh well. The heads on his belt were sculpted with their eyes closed, but I elected to give them an open-eyed, zombie-like appearance. In my head, these are enemies that he had a particularly strong hate for. He keeps their heads in this state of living death so that he can torture them indefinitely by having them watch all of the horrible stuff he does. The only thing I don't really like about the finished product is the colors I chose for those slits in his chest. I was going for an "inner furnace" look, but I just don't think there's enough contrast between the slits and his skin. If I had it to do over again, I'd have toyed with making them black. Also, big thanks to Wildspire. My Arch Devil originally arrived with some damage. After I contacted them, they got this replacement right out to me (and I still have the damaged one to use for custom stuff). Anyway...here he is.

Who let the dogs out (of hell)? Hi everyone. Back again with some infernal pooches. These are the Hell hounds from the Bones 4 Fan Favorites Expansion. They were fun and challenging. All those glowing lava details were a pain. I think I managed to get them to turn out alright though. Also had fun with the lava bases. More Photos of the Hell Hounds beneath the spoiler: In all, I like these guys. Their bases were a lot of fun and really pop from a lot of my other minis. I'll be posting more of my infernal collection soon, but figured these were a great place to start. Which Hound turned out best?

I constructed this in the 2018 Bones Mash-up at Reapercon. The wings do not go with the body, and one of the arms is not original. I forget what the weapon was but I cut it off the bone handle and added a wicked looking blade from my bits box. He was kind of boring all in grey and white, so I added a dab of blood, and put some orange into his bat wings. He's on a Secret Weapon base that has added sand to fill in weird gaps.

This past week I painted the Female Devil "Tormentor" figure from the Bones 4 Bedeviled group from the Core Set. During the run of the Kickstarter, there were folks in the Bones 4 Enthusiasm who where considering the possibilities of converting the larger Rulers of Hell figure set into some sort of Forest King and Queen creatures by removing their wings and skull iconography. With the cloven hooves and horns I could see how easily this could be done. And, while I didn't get that set, I did get the smaller sized Bedeviled group that came in the Core Set. Looking at the female figure in that set, it seemed to me that she too would be an easy conversion to make into some sort of Faun-like Forest Creature. Photos linked for nudity. Ok, I know that the figure is called 'Blood Demon' but It reminds me of the Bone Devil (Osyluth for all you real old timers out there) from a certain well known role playing game. So, that's how I painted it. Relatively quick tabletop painting, I think I spent about 2-3 hours including basing on this figure.

At the center of the summoning pentagram, a short humanoid materializes in a cloud of steam. You haven’t cast any spell or summon any creature but he’s there, standing still, staring at you with his malicious eyes. Dark red skin, two feet tall, with sharp pointy horns, bat-like wings and a barbed tail. This creature is the embodiment of a devil like you pictured them according to the tales you heard in your childhood. He’s holding its tail with one hand, and lazily starts balancing the tip of it from side to side. After a moment, the fiendish imp talks to you and offer you to make a deal. With a seducing voice, he says, I can fulfill one of you wish if you accept to do me a favor... Here it is 02756, Familiar Pack IV Imp a pewter Dark Heaven Legends model. Sorry I coundn't find the name of sculptor.

This is "Lady of Pestilence". I created this for a D&D group as the campaign's main villain. The figurine is 3D modeled and printed in resin, the rest sculpted by hand. Here my latest work. I keep trying and trying with black: highliting black. I tried with blue for a while till I was quite happy with it, and now I’m trying with grey which is more difficult... it does show here, since it completely reads as grey skin but oh well, it’s still a job I’m happy with. That’s Be’lakor, one of the finest demon figures ever made by any manufacturer. First chaos everchosen, first mortal to ascend to demonhood, blessed and cursed, the lord of the dark...

These are 3 little imps/demons that I pulled off the melt table at Reapercon last year. I'm not sure of manufacturer, so if you recognize them, please let me know. I think they may be from a 15mm figure range. I bashed these guys out over he course of a couple evenings about a week ago. Thanks for looking. With (in need of a touch up) Sir Forscale:

A DaughterOfCheese abandoned the painting of this model, so it ended up in the Simple Green for awhile and I decided that her beautiful dress would look better with tentacles protruding from beneath it. Beautiful, sickly devil-flesh striding across a hellscape while she peels back her hood to reveal sinister horns. And it does get cold in hell, so don't forget your scarf. Or anyway, that was the plan. It turns out that her color made her difficult to photograph. The tentacles are formed around unwound paperclips, which were easy to twist into the right shape, but the flesh I added (green stuff, some clay, etc) was difficult to get to the right proportion without making it fall off. I'm new to this whole "modding" thing, so I'd LOVE feedback on it. :-)

A fun mini I painted up for the Spring Mini Exchange. My partner wanted a) female b) non-human skin-tones c) horns, d) practical clothes. 3 out of 4 isn’t bad. Her wings got replaced with the wings from the Bones 3 Sophie, as Princess’s wings got fatally bent in transit. I used zenithal priming for the major shadows and highlights, MSP Clear Red and DR Payne’s Gray for the red, MSP Bright Skin triad + MSP Splattered Blood for her skin. VMA Steel over MSP Midnight Blue for the weapons. The same Midnight Blue is the base for her thong-dress.

So, I needed a little distraction from all the Reptiles and Amphibians... This guy just has had a nice comfy soapy bath and a trim with an exacto knife. Now drying and waiting for colours. Need to fill the gap between wings and back with plastic putty ( vallejo)

Just finished up painting the skeleton archer I've been working on and decided on this guy as my next one up. Seems to be a devil or demon with a mask on maybe? I decided to to go with a purple cape and red skin on this guy. Probably make the axe gunmetal with some silver highlights. Not sure on the breast plate thingy he's wearing. Couple of details I've gone over in purple or red that will need changed. Comments and criticism welcome!

Hi all, I've been reading the forums for a couple months since I've started getting into painting miniatures. Here is my fourth one that I just finished up. Comments welcome!

Next up on the Bones-painting production line is this one, 77261: Bat Demon by Bob Ridolfi. At first I was going to paint him classic devil red, but I went with green in the end to give it a more serpentine look. I don't know why I wanted that; there's nothing very serpentine about the sculpting, but there you are. The heart has its reasons. The wings and elevated position make this figure a bit more imposing than its stature actually warrants. As far as its body goes, it's just very slightly — if at all — larger than the average Reaper bloke.

Straight from the depths of hell, it's.........Devil Girl, Supervillain! (cue scary music!) For a change, instead of painting the eyes looking straight on, I painted them so that she was looking to the right as if she just spied a do-gooding superhero & was about to lob a fireball in their direction. The base was created using the Basius "Dungeon" stamp with the river part painted up as lava - I imagined that wherever she walked, the ground morphed into fiery molten goodness. Thanks for looking, comments & criticisms are always welcome.

Sing the song! "I'll be there for you...!" :-) So, after the completion of their awesome campaign, Rachel, Monica, and Phoebe were booked on a gig that was simultaneously more serious and less comfortable. These three took forever to paint-- I experimented with implied lighting from the magma, but am less than pleased with the results because they don't look like the lava is lighting them at all. Instead, the shadows I attempted to paint on the facing-away sides just seem to look muddy. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
