  1. So, Today I hosted Dilvish, Chaoswolf, and my neighbor Doug, for what we hope to be a monthly Frostgrave campaign... The table: The Deployments: Dilvish: Chaoswolf: Doug: Me It was, from my perspective, an interesting learning experience, as I lost first my wizard, then my apprentice, and 6 more of the 8 soldiers I started with..... Dilvish and Chaoswolf took more detailed notes than I did, so they will be able to tell the story better, but I went through quite a few D20s, and they all deserve to get hit with sledgehammers..... At least my wizard and apprentice survived, and I didn't lose anyone permanently, but I will be without 1 archer, and 2 thugs next game as they heal.... And I only got away with 1 treasure... I only got 90 exp, and just to gain a level, I had to choose the Laboratory option for my base to break the needed 100 points to gain a level.... I also discovered that My spell choices were not the best, and as it was the first game, the others consented to letting me change them.... Thanks guys! But it was a lot of fun, and hopefully I will do a bit better next game.... off to Koplow for a pile of D20..... And whatever Dilvish's wizard's name is, He needs to append "The Sniper" to them, as he found a 48" line of sight with minor obstructions, and killed 2 people with Bone darts.....
  2. So this is the figure that I painted for the last quarterly Reaper FB contest. you know the one I didn't bother taking pictures for until it was too late and I never actually entered. Even though I finished paining it a week into the contest. Oh well. maybe I'll get off my broccoli for the next one.
  3. A mini I finished up last week while I was procrastinating finishing another mini (procrastination can be productive as long as you do something else that needs to be done other than what you are avoiding). Still need to base him; just need to find the right base for his Official Tre Manor StanceTM.
  4. And the final mini in this batch is Arthrand, who is destined to see use as an Arch/Ranger for Frostgrave.
  5. So last Paint day at the Citadel in Groton CT, I picked up the OOP Chainmail Mini Orc Druid, because folks on the hangouts were talking about him... 88713 Orc Druid So I spoke to Dilvish, Chaoswolf, & Pezler, (and David Brawley), and most of us have him, (David has an Orc Champion) and we decided to have a Hangout Group Paint of this guy, for the Month of February. Now Dilvish still needs to get one, and the Citadel still has a few extra.... So if you have this figure, or a Chainmail or other Orc Spell Caster, Join in and paint with us! This is not a contest, or any type of pressure event, it is just something for a bunch of folks to do and talk about while we are hanging out.... So Join in if you like... Watch if you like! George Current Hangout link: https://hangouts.goo...3ogteaq4nokgdae Edit: I plan on doing my own WiP Thread, and using my placeholder below to put 1 pic of the latest sessions work..... Edit #2 Should we pick one night a week for working specifically on this mini on the hangouts? If so, what night is best? (Obviously, this isn't any kind of mandatory thing, It would just be set up for everyone to be able to show off their work, as well as asking each other's opinions about things, as well as the "Does anyone know what that doohickey on his belt is????" type questions....) Edit #3 For those of you who don't have, or want to get the Chainmail figure, Reaper makes this guy: 02980: Quosk Ravensire, Half-Orc Druid ($4.99) James van Schaik
  6. Next up is one of the better figure that I have painted of late. I painted this figure up to represent a wizard for Frostgrave. As this particular figure has a Native American vibe to it, I went with buckskins fo the clothing. All buckskin was too bland for her male counterpart so I added the blue to her outfit to help break it up. I carried over the blue to her eyes, the crystal on the staff and the gem in her circlet. I like how the hair came out. I kept messing up her left eye and finally gave up when it didn't look too bad. (believe me it looked plenty worse before).
  7. So, at ReaperCon '16 there were some individual pieces of DDS 2 terrain available for purchase. I didn't hear about it until toward the end of the con, so picking were slim. I picked up this piece of the tower. My plan was to paint it up as more terrain for Frostgrave and any other game I could shoehorn it into. I also used it to test out color schemes for my DDS 2 set as I haven't painted it yet; mostly because I've been too lazy to boil the pieces. I also decided to use this piece to practice airbrushing. I've owned a Badger Krome for a couple of years now, but never did much with it. So this entire piece is air brushed. I may go back in and give it a wash for some more depth, but the picture make it look flatter than it really is.
  8. Here is another mini I recently painted. Orginally intended for the Facebook contest, I finished it two days prior to the deadline, but never managed to take pictures. So I based it up for use in my Summoner's warband for Frostgrave. I figure he'll make agood apprentice. Done to my standard tabletop level, the pictures magnify every mistake I made. I tried to do some mystical runes on the scroll, but my paint was too thin and just bled everywhere. So he now has a water damaged scroll in his hand. Or perhaps, it only look blotchy to the uninitiated. Yeah, let's go with that. Also, are my picture looking as big on everyone elses screen as they are on mine? If so, I'll have to try and fix that. Fixing image size.
  9. So, I've been painting (or hobbying) every day so far this year. I'm finally getting around to posting figures as I've finished some bases and am calling them done. First up is Damien, who I painted up a while back to represent my Tiefling Warlock for 5th Edition. I modified the staff into a rod (a more Warlock type item) and kept him simple. The game I painted him for never really went anywhere and when we decided to try to get a New England area Frostgrave campaign going, I dusted him off (literally as he sat on my desk for months) and based him up to represent a Summoner. Just a basic tabletop job. I like how his silver eyes look. Give him that otherworldly sinister look.
  10. So, I've had this figure for a while and finally worked up the courage to paint it. I stated in mid-December and finished jsut after Christmas. Not in time to hang it from the tree, but it will be there next year. I wrote the names of of the family (including the rabbits), bu some of the names were too long, so I tried to give the impression that the list was folded over with the letter continuing on the backside.
  11. So today Dilvish and I went to visit Aard_Rinn and she gave me three cool brushes. (Thanks again Aard!) When I got home I immediately started to work on a serving wench for my D&D group, our last in school meet is next Friday. After I finished with everything Dilvish said the tomorrow he would teach me how to highlight hair on my minnies! I'm so excited! I'm gonna be posting picture of it as soon as I finish.
