  1. I really love the Stephanie Law line from Dark Sword Miniatures and Euterpe may be my favorite from the Kickstarter. She was among the first three I prepped and after ReaperCon I started to put some paint on her. I did post a couple pictures in the WIP group thread for the Stephanie Law pieces, but wanted to be careful as I planned on taking her to Gen Con and their rules ask that you do not post finished pictures prior to the show. Her foxy friends were already seen in this thread http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62924-dark-sword-standing-kirin-and-a-few-foxes/ prior to basing of
  2. I always start my WIPs too late. This is my first scenic thing, normally I paint/build for game use exclusively, but my wife wanted a little scene with the mouselings from Bones II. This is somewhere in the done to done-ish range, but I've not convinced myself yet. I think maybe the tree needs more bulk and I'm mixed on the grass. I feel like a few tufts of color wouldn't hurt. Maybe some flower tufts? I still need to stain and seal the rim obviously, but I'm waiting until I'm finished so I can tape those sections off and give a light spray coat to help things stay put. Is there maybe
  3. This is my first time posting stuff online. I am still fairly new to the miniatures hobby, but I dove in head first and started collecting and grabbing up all the minis (old and new that I could). This is my first big non-gaming use piece. I am still learning different terrain techniques, but I thought it would be a fun use of some old Kings of War white metal minis that I didn't plan to use for gaming. Sorry I am not a great photographer. I am sure that is something I will get used to as I photograph more of my projects. details, details (mostly done with repoduced bitz)
  4. I started this piece about a month back, slowly finding time to work on it piece by piece between other projects. It is the second in a series of small dioramas made using minis from various companies that I had lying around going unused. This one uses some Kings of War Dwarves and a Reaper Ogre. This is also my first major attempt sculpting with foam to create a more interesting base than just rocky terrain that is my usual fall back. As an illustrator and designer, all my work tends to start with drawings first. Early concept:
  5. Hey, another WIP I'll start then most likely ignore for months. I finished Platypod, or so I thought. Then I took pictures and decided, nope. Needs more blending and highlights. See Frumitty and Shoamita to follow I've had quite a few questions about how I created the river on my spring exchange's base. I'll do my best to take their base from start to finish including all my mistakes (cause I'll make them) and how I fixed them. Pictures of the base concept to follow Comments, questions, suggestions always welcome.
  6. For my online business, we cut lots of wood and leave lots of pieces in the scrap bin. Well, we just processed a beautiful seasoned branch of oak and cut it every which way right up to the very last piece, the spot where it was cut from the body of the tree. For some reason I spent a few minutes looking at the piece and decided to bring it with me to clean up. As you can see in the pics it cleaned up but I wasn't sure what to do with it. So, I had just posted an ash burl to my website and suggested in the description making it into a treasure horde for your dragon. And I realized what
  7. The girl next door requested a dragon for her birthday, after she saw me give one to somebody else. I really hate giving away miniatures, because I feel my painting is not good enough for displaying to random people. But.. What can you do? :P Soo.. I figured I'd give it a go. Been working on these two on and off since yesterday evening: Based one black, the other white: The Valkyrie stood very low, so I sculpted a stand for her with a cork and some Fimo: Didn't fit perfectly with the ridges, but I think I can get away with it as a whole: And this is just abo
  8. Here is another piece I took to ReaperCon. I entered her into the open category and to my surprise earned me a gold medal. Then I was speechless when she was given the Dark Sword Best in Show Manufacturer Award. There were so many beautiful Dark Sword entries at the show and I am honored that she was selected. I quite enjoyed working on this piece and I must Thank everyone who gave me feedback in the group thread http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/58747-groupopen-dsm-wips-stephanie-law-masterworks/page-12?hl=%20stephanie%20%20law as there were a few times with her that I needed the
  9. This is my ReaperCon 2015 entry into the Diorama category. I called it "Faithful Stand" and the idea came about when I first saw the praying paladin. It evoked in me an image of him praying to his god or goddess and something bad sneaking up behind him. I then saw the Reaper Artist Con's Ogres and knew that they were what was needed to put this diorama from my mind into reality. The Grey Maiden was the prefect figure for my idea of a statue of the paladin's goddess. Having got caught up in a pretty big funk for a while, I didn't start this project until about 10 days before ReaperCon was
  10. As quite a few of you know I was able to attend ReaperCon this year and I wanted to share a few pieces I took. This was a fun little Diorama that I decided to try to paint in April. I was surprised at how quick the mouslings were to paint and I tried to keep them simple as their size would be very easy to overwhelm. To keep them looking like a unit I painted all their uniforms grey with a different accent color for each one. I added some tentacles from the Descent Kraken miniature and made up a murky water, space rocky base for them all. I was quite honored that these little guys brou
  11. Hey everyone! I'm back from ReaperCon and finally putting up the pictures of my finished diorama! I had such an awesome time hanging out with all of you (both seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones!), and I already can't wait until next year! Thanks a bunch to everyone who took my classes; you were a great bunch of students, and I hope you learned a lot! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me (but, of course, that goes for anyone on the forums since we all just like to talk minis)! I ended up with a silver for the piece in the MSP Open, but I learned a lot about wha
  12. Hi all, I finished up my Dragons Don't Share diorama that I've been working on for about three weeks. It's on display at a local game shop, so apologies for the pictures not being super high quality. You can see the in-progress pics over at my WIP thread at: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/60821-77381-dragons-dont-share-2014-wip-blackgray-and-red-dragon/ The heroes' color choices were done to match the five factions playing a role in the current D&D public play storylines.
  13. Okay so Epic may not be appropriate, but I'll let you judge that for yourself. I got my hands on a Dragons Don't Share 2 at Adepticon (thank you reaper Bryan and Reaper Ed!) and I decided to begin a fairly substantial diorama with it. I'm still working on an appropriate name for the piece. I'll have a narrative story to go with it, but the Idea is still changing slightly as I build this. I hope to have this ready for ReaperCon 2016. So to start, This is how one carries a DDS2 home on a motorcycle... And no he will not share with you... On to the actual Diorama! The ideas s
  14. So I'm going to attempt to pull off a feat of craziness here. I'm planning on a 5-figure diorama that I started last night and trying to finish in time for ReaperCon. The figures are as follows: 3 Ogres (Tom, Dick, & Harry from the Reaper Artists Con) - 03710 03711 03712 Praying Paladin - 03600 Grey Maiden - 60025 Photo of Tom, Dick, and Harry (the three to the right) courtesy of hungerfan's post while he was at the RAC: Anyhow, here's my idea that came to me when I saw them: The praying paladin is kneeling before a broken temple to his Goddess (the Grey Maiden figure
  15. So back to reposting my minis after the account crash. This is Freebooter winged Vampire Raven, sh swoops down from this ruin to attack Hasslefree's Gen. I removed Gen's horns, I wanted her to look more human. Gen's pics are linked cause, nude...mammal parts, I like the wings, but overall I'm not so proud of this. Around this time ( years ago) I noticed my eyesight getting worse. Nowadays I use a visor. https://postimg.cc/image/ef2n7zl6d/ https://postimg.cc/image/dcsgpgpid/ https://postimg.cc/image/5k1sxhbth
  16. This was made for and with my girlfriend. She painted the princess most of it..I finished it. This way she wanted to know what my hobby was like. It seems she likes to look at these but painting is not her thing. Too bad, I think she got talent. The Prince woos the Princess from the other pond, a Jester is chaperonne.
  17. Last year I saw my daughters watching Twilight. Sparkling vampires, Of course I had to show them where that came from. So I showed them Buffy and Angel series, The oldest one was hooked. So I made her this: She loved it, she keeps it in her room now.
  18. Greetings, all. It's been a while, I know - but I have embarked on my largest project to date, a combination terrain piece and diorama, which is sure to delight and amaze - all based around the Dragons Don't Share pack from Reaper Bones II: Assembled from: 1 sheet 1" thick Insulation Foam (started 20"x20") 1 23" diameter 3/4" thick plywood disk (nice and solid and should make it a lot more durable) 1 Dragons Don't Share set from Reaper 1/2 small tub of pre-mixed Plaster (may use some more to add some rocky patches and small cliff faces to the build) My plan for the rest of th
  19. The library is completed! This grew into a bigger project than I planned. It all started with Jolie. Then I searched for more miniatures for a library and I found some more then expected, so I needed a bigger diorama. Then came the idea to make a large globe as a centerpiece. It was a lot of work to make all the details. There are over 300 books in the diorama. It was also a lot of fun to do. There is a wip topic here The diorama is entered in the banalicious 2 competition on the Massive Voodoo blog. I an happy how it turned out, for me it has the right level of detail for busy
  20. Hi ! My last Dark Sword mini :)... The close up is very violent :(
  21. Hi, my name is Yann, i'm French (sorry for my bad english). This is my first post here... Call of Cthulhu 1:350 (with Tamiya boats) : http://www.coolminiornot.com/372937
  22. Hello all! To you I present this fine sculpt by Tre Manor, going by name of Dilean Softstep but used as a base for ub3r_n3rd's elf character. Mod job to make it similar to ub3r's description included cutting out the blades and crafting plasticard "kukris" curved blades; sculpting an eye-patch and horsetail. Paintjob is an attempt at the brushes by yours truly, trying to keep to the topic of a nature rogue... on a roof. Since the mini was intended for play, I designed a small diorama-vignette where the actual 25mm square base could be placed, with the intention of making it non-obvi
  23. Hello, Here is a fun project I started to make use of some mis-packed CAV SO Bones Kickstarter rewards. Story: Out of the 32 CAV minis included in the early bird CAV SO Kisckstarter reward, I got 2 mispacked CAV: One Halberd with 2 left arms One Wight with 2 right arms Reaper Support was top notch, and they sent me as a replacement a full Wight and a full Halberd. So I was wondering for a while what to do with those 2 mismatched but FREE minis... ... Then I went Hobby knife crazy and chopped them up... For the Halberd, it was fairly easy to fix the arm as the shoulder pad is
  24. I've had this idea for a diorama bouncing around in my head for a long time now. Bought the minis for it, Warl Hellbore and Selthak Poisoner. The basic idea is a territorial negotiation between criminal syndicates, being fought on the rooftops of a city by assassins. In the scene, one assassin is falling and the other has jumped off the roof after him (influenced by something Kris said at Reapercon). I finally got around to sketching out the concept: I'm not totally sold on how the slice of building works, I think the way the roofline falls on the tudor-style crossbeams makes i
