  1. Well, might as well post some of my best stuff. and Sheep-Thing:P Most of my Minis that I'm proud of are ones that I've Mangled...I mean Modified. So here goes nothing... Note: I'm just posting one Pic per Mini so I do not Overload anyones Inter-Webs, hopefully. You can find more pics of each in my PhotoBucket Album linked in my Sig. So that was Sheep-Thing. Made from a couple of DDMs and some fuzzy cotton sheet thing. Was inspired by a player in the Local Encounters group. Her PC was a Tiefling Fire Elementalist that had refluffed her powers as being originating from a Deformed, two-legged Sheep named Snapdragon She had saved. So I made Sheep-Thing for Her. Splug, Goblin Sorcerer and Emergency Ration Supply :P Also, Used for my Goblin Cleric, Itch, that I played during the first Drow themed Encounters Season last year. Itch was Awesome! He had conviced 3 Goblin Minions to follow him at one point. Fed one to an Ogre, One died in battle and the Third, "Meat-Shield #3", Road a Spider that was on Fire into the Drow Torcher Theater as a distraction! Fun Times! Itch was played during the same season as Sheep-Thing was. Behold! My Lazor Beholder! Was a Prize for the DDM Guild Community Draft at GenCon 2012. Another Prize from GenCon 2012 Com. draft. I painted a Clear Plastic DDM Guild rebase as a Shardmind warrior-type. The DDM Elder Blue Dragon Repainted for the 2012 North American DDM Championship! Winner of the Champs won this bugger! Mini is one of the best sculpts in the entire DDM line and seeing it with a decent paintjob proves that. And Damn, that thing took forever to paint! For the "God of War and Tyranny" Bane here originally came with a rather Dinky Mace. So, I fixxed it:P And finally, we have my "Country-Western Cow-Boy":P So, I took a DDM Goristro and Chopped off its Right Arm, repositioned it, then made him a Cowboy Hat, gave him a Tongue and added a little wooden Guitar to his now correctly positioned Arms. 2. Here's my entry for the winter wonderland single mini. The Bones really do hold detail well. Once I got a good base coat on him, the shading was just like on a metal mini. The paint still has a tendency to become shiny. Having the ability to move and manipulate the wings is really nice. The colors are pure white, sapphire blue, vallejo dark grey and blue-green. No metallics were harmed during the making of this Bones mini! I made the base out of sculpey and that long grassy stuff from scene-o-rama. I don;t like how the thin glazes got chalky, but I'll just be more patient in the future. He's for a gaming session this weekend, so I was on a time crunch.
  3. Hi, I have the new Young Skeletal Dragon (03644) and have begun assembly. After caliing customer support, I was informed that there was no slot base provded for this miniature... So, I have a question about this miniature. What is the tab on the bottom of the rib cage? Is that supposed to be there for a base, or is the sternum, o r what is it? I've contemplated cutting it off and pinning the feet to a new base. I see it the pictures of the painted model showing it, but I'm still not sure. Thanks for any help with this. Aluvial
  4. Iron wind Metals has had this up for a while now and it STILL says "photo available soon". They probably mean "soon" if you ARE a dragon and a mortal lifespan is but a blink. Anyway, does anyone have a picture of this fairy dragon: http://ironwindmetals.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=266&products_id=7008
  5. Practicing different techniques for the Dragon challenge..
  6. This is an open thread for our 2013 Dragon Painting Extravaganza! I started Cinder back when...um...she was released. Yeah, shelf of super shame. Here's what I've got so far. I may strip her on account of I started painting her when I had no light, so now her paint looks super thick, but at least you get an idea of the plan. Ok, feel free to join in!
  7. Hi everyone, I just started working on this beautiful model. Leorelex was sculpted by Geoff Valley and was released in 2004. For now, I only started working on the putty base. I want to make it look like it's an eroded sea shore. I'm mixed between sculpting waves or using realistic water effect. Should I sculpt green stuff waves like I did for my Karkarius or Scuttlebones, or should I try using realistic water to creats a more transparent aspect?
  8. Out of the past, one of the ancient dragons from heritage. this one came to me with a missing tail and frill and some "interesting" solder work on the chest. The tail and frill are my own creation with green stuff and magicsculpt. I am still working on my photography and this is just off my bench so the veining in the wings is actually much redder than the picture would show. This little monster weighs about 5 pounds. Enjoy and of course, comments are always welcome
  9. Hi folks! Finally finished Kaladrax reborn!!!! If you have seen Kaladrax in the shop you will know that he is in fact a drcolich or skeletal dragon. Having already completed a Ral Partha dracolich I decided to try and reconstruct Kaladrax in life. This thread shows the development of the sculpt and below is him finished. http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/showthread.php?37982-Resurrection-of-a-dragon I went for a very naturalistic colourscheme like that of a crocodile. To be honest he looks better IRL than in these piccies. I think I overworked it slightly and perhaps my paints are rather past it so I will have to invest in some new ones before I start on Cang! Overall I think my sculpt is much more successful than my last attempt (the Treasure Dragon). However, I have had a slight problem with the weight of the wings which means his right back leg is slightly cracked. Hoping that the arm resting on the base will prevent further shifting but that remains to be seen. :/. Also the left wing limb is significantly thicker than the right, in part I think due to the underlying bone structure and a few areas in the scuplting were not as well defined as they could have been. The base is made of supersculpy and decorated with various Woodland scenics products and a few bits of dried plant.
