Hey guys! I am looking to recreate The Heroes of the Lance from the Dragonlance books. I was wondering which miniatures people would suggest ( from Reaper only ) and why? Thanks!
-
So with my obsession with My Dark Lady, I have painted up the old Ral Partha Takhisis mini from the Dragonlance Villains box. But since I had previously painted up the DSM version as the human version of her avatar, I was at a loss as to what I should do when I fell into an old Ral Partha mini from Evilbay cheap... Well, She is a Deity, so why should Her Avatar be limited to human? And as my avatar is a Drow.... So I give you The Queen of Darkness as a Drow... Not as happy with her as I was with my DSM, but.... Thanks for looking! George (WiP)

***In another bout of insanity, I had started this mini as well....*** ***And it's about time too....*** ***Yes my Queen of Darkness....*** So while hunting the Bay of all Evil, I ran across the 'human' Avatar of Takhisis from the box set for a good price, and bought her. After she made her way here from Denmark, and got cleaned up and primed, she has been getting som paint here and there... Decay Black base coat for the skin, followed by MSP Dark elf triad...(incomplete) Eyes were White Sands and Aldebaran Red Bikini with Sunset Purple ***I mean I already painted her Awesomness' Human Avatar, (DSM Barbarian Queen), so I thought that MY people would be fitting for an Avatar of the Queen of Chaos....*** ***I will reserve my judgement until I see what you have done with my other mortal form.....*** ***Yes my Queen! I will do my finest work!*** ***You had Better!*** (Ma'al Drakkar....) ****AAAAAAhhhhh Dreamy.........**** Comments, critiques and distractions welcome! George

I've had this guy on my workbench for...several years...I've finally decided to call him done. Based on the box art, Keith Parkinson's stellar "What do you Mean, We're Lost?" Comments are, as always, welcome!

Allright Reaperites! This is what took me so dang long to get finished and shipped out to Marsya, which was supposed to go out last fall, I believe. At any rate, the crazy whirlwind that is life delayed the project by several months, and I am happy to report that she had received it! At any rate, I knew it would have to be special as she'd requested something along the lines of fall in Krynn. I was able to track down this: Goldmoon: And this: Riverwind: These two are a couple of the main characters out of the Dragonlance novels, and I figured they would be a great pair for the nature scene that I was planning to prepare. So I purchased them, stripped the old paint that was left from God knows when (these minis are from 1989), and proceeded to paint them up! The base is a simple birch section from Michael's. The leaves and tree trunk are from Secret Weapons, the plants and such are Army Painter (I think) and everything else is sand and paint from various places. The bowstring is from my little girl's hairbrush. One thing that was driving me nuts as these were the first two minis that I started painting once I started up again, and they seemed so small! Turned out that they were smaller than what I was used to. They gave me fits for a while as I readjusted to painting. At any rate, here's the result: And a collage: So I finished my exchange! I hate that it took so long, and I'm going to do my best to never allow that to happen again! LOL! Questions and Comments are definitely appreciated! Thank you all for viewing! -K

This is an old Ral Partha miniature that has been re-purposed into a Blood Bowl coach (this one was for a client, but I've definitely considered getting one of her myself). She has a certain Elmore style about her that really works, and the sculpting was better than I expect from minis the same age (especially on the face). Anyway, here she is:

Alright! Now I am working on Sandru Vhiski. We'll be using him for the swashbuckler/bard in our DragonLance campaign. I simply ADORE Martin Jones' paint job of him, so I am going to more-or-less be copying it (although not half as well!). 1. Primed! 2. Base colours blocked out with some of the details, etc. I got interrupted tonight, or I would have got a bit more done. Next up is some touch ups, followed by shading and highlighting. And yes, if you look closely you can see chest hair. ;) Current soundtrack is Little Boots.

This dragon has actually been painted for a while, but I had such a hard time getting decent photos I haven't posted her. She's meant to represent Khisanth for our Dragonlance campaign, and she's been corpsified for a few months, now. But she was suitably terrifying for the party (except Gerwin, my cleric...he made the save vs. dragonfear and just walked right up to chat. Then he killed her, and only died a little in the process. If you know the story or the module, you know how it went). I'm quite happy with her wings. Sorry the photos make her hard to see, but this is what I've got, and I'm tired of fighting with it. C&C welcome and appreciated!

Sigh...can anyone please do some Kender minis?
Jasryn Von Bladmere posted a topic in General Fantasy
Can someone PLEASE do some kender minis? (You can call them "sprites" if you're worried about copyrights, but for some reason, I don't think WoTC will mind the free advertising for their novels and such!) Also, I've looked high and low, and can't find TINKER GNOMES! And, I would dearly love to find some (gasp! Out of Stock) farm animals, goats, sheep, chickens, cows, to put on the gaming mat outside the Inn I just purchased! -
(Updated photos in the reply below!) Here's my current WIP. He's from the pile o' unpainted minis someone in my gaming group acquired. I was actually able to track down this one: Halbarad, Crusaders Cleric. I wasn't surprised at all to find out he was a sculpt by Klocke, who is turning out to have made nearly all of my favourite sculpts I have come across. :) I wish I could give him a big hug and tell him how awesome he is! Anyways, we are possibly going to use this mini for our human fighter/ Cleric of Kiri-Jolith in our DragonLance campaign. 1. Primed/ shaded and ready to go! 2. Laying down some of the base colours (difficult to see the two tones of silver paints on there). Had a hard time deciding if I wanted his skirt white and cloak blue, or vis-versa. Also, Kiri-Jolith's colours are Brown & White, but we have a lot of brown already in the minis on our table so I made the executive decision to abandon brown overall. 3. His white cloak. I have found that items that are black or white are really hard, because shading/highlighting becomes problematic later... 4. Starting on the details. 5. More of the details. The bronze is a herald back to the brown of Kiri-Jolith. 6. Finally! With the head painted he doesn't seem so oppressively grey. Now that I have all of the base colours down things are coming together. Back in the day I would probably stop about now. However, next I will move on to fine details, shading/highlighting, and touch-ups. Woot! For anyone curious, music I am listening to whilst working on this guy is Imagine Dragons and the soundtracks from SailorMoon. ;)

Hi All! so I finished this one's paint job last week, but went on vacation and came back to finish up the base last night. I painted this one as a gift for somebody I'm going to be seeing next month, which hopefully he likes. Don't know if he ever checks this forum out or not, and even if he does I'm pretty sure he has no idea who I am on it so probably not revealing any surprises. I kind of like how this one came out, even though the metal seems to look better in real life. I'm a bit disappointed that inside his helm I couldn't get his eyes to stick out much. They are painted red but it's either not red enough or the shadows are too deep so you really can't see them. Anyway, enjoy!
