  1. Very In Progress, I've put both together, but am missing 3 pieces from Lavarath (the shoulder armor/pauldrons and base). I wasn't especially thrilled with either model until I saw someone painting Kyra and Lavarath, then I looked it up and found a blog post of Sandra Garrity's that mentioned the wings were designed to be interchangeable. So I bought both the blister and the box and immediately started putting them together, swapping the wings. Ebonwrath must have warped some coming out of the mould, because I had to green stuff the wing up quite a bit to make it fit. Still, I think it looks epic and I'm hoping to get her primed post haste. I've emailed reaper customer support about the missing pauldron bits and base (that's what happens when you don't finish putting your model together, then leave it alone for years - lesson learned) so hopefully I can get replacements and get that pair finished and primed soon, too. I am wondering about the colors for Lavarath- 1)Black with fiery highlights and silvery armour, 2)Something similar to the official painting of T'char, Dragon of Flame and Fury, with silvery armor, Or 3)Mottled dark and light browns to make a sandy/desert effect. Probably with dark armour. 4) I also considered red, with highlights into oranges and yellows, but the only two painted versions I can find online are reds, so I like the idea of being a bit different. Please let me know if any of the color scheme sounds more appealing to you. Ebonwrath will be typical black dragon colours unless massive inspiration hits before I get started. I'm not certain how well I can pull off any of the above Lavarath effects, but if we don't stretch ourselves, we don't grow. Or at least, not very quickly. At minimum, it'll be fun!
  2. Finally finished my dance of death. I honestly thought it was bones 5, since i thought i had finished all my 4's. Pretty sure this would be the last bones 4 i have(that i would actually be painting. Damn those last few glue spots were a pain to get correct.
  3. I put this up on the Facebook group and it was well received, but I thought I would put it up on the forums so it can be more effectively found by a search and isn't subject to the vagaries of the Meta algorithm. Apologies to those who have been inflicted with it twice. This is the first dragon I've finished, well to be honest, it's the first one I've painted with the intent to make it something to be proud of, and not just "get some paint on it so it can go on the table". I admit I am quite pleased with the results. \
  4. So my dragons, started here so long ago, have started to be released by Dark Sword in their year-long, 20th anniversary celebration. He is running these as a nod to the old Genadier Dragon-of-the-Month club dragons. Each dragon will be in resin. The line will include all of the dragons I sculpted here, plus 7 others that Jim didn't want me to share publicly (10 are done and being produced, 1 is on the printer right now, and the last one I started sculpting last night). I am super excited to have these out in the world. First up is the Black Dragon. It is available on the DS website. Aaron Lovejoy painted the studio model:
  5. Kickstarter link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bamdungeondelvers/forged-adventure-series-1/description Alright, so this is the third launch for this campaign. The first launch just wasn't optimally set up, pure and simple. The second succeeded in funding, but moved slow, and Broken Anvil seems very intent on wanting to get a lot of their stretch goal miniatures made. Both the previous launches also had some elements to them that were reminiscent of another KS(Blacklist FS1) that a lot of people have been burnt by, which probably made some of those people steer clear. So they've now done some rebranding of the campaign, and it's on Kickstarter instead of Backerkit now. The "rerelaunch" was apparently done because Broken Anvil was given a deal by the factory they're working with, which reduced the costs significantly. So they relinquished the funding that they had already secured in their second launch to do make a better campaign with more value (and more minis) for everyone involved. Anyone that backed the second launch on Backerkit will get a couple of small bonuses if they back the new campaign on KS. This will be a "Pug King" mini and a "third time's the charm" enamel pin. So nothing big that feels like you'd be missing out on if you didn't back the previous version, but also a nice, little "thank you" to those that did and kept supporting the project. Pledge levels: Heroes Box $40 (17 hero minis, no stretch goals) Encounters Box $60 (5x6 pcs enemy squad minis, 2 large monster minis, no stretch goals) Adventure Box $120 (17 heroes, 5x9 pcs enemy squad minis, 2 large monster minis, 1 dragon, all stretch goals) Forgemaster's Bundle $360 (Everything in the Adventure Box, all 7 addon dragons, 5e Adventure, 45 pcs terrain buncle, all stretch goals) Adventure STL Bundle $50 (Every sculpt in the Adventure Box, including all stretch goals, as STL files.) There are Early Bird pledge levels with reduced costs for the first 48 hours. --- Alrighty, so first off, they've made an early update with some information about the rerelaunch. Though I personally would've liked more in depth info/details on some points, it does feel very genuine. They also acknowledge the problem with the Blacklist FS1 KS, without mentioning the name. They've also chosen to put their actual faces on the campaign, which I personally consider a good show of sincerity. Secondly, all the dragons have been previewed on the front page: Those are some interesting dragons! Some of them are very close to their D&D counterparts, though with some quirks. The Red and Black dragons are very different, though! The Red Dragon is basically a living volcano spewing clouds of smoke, and with the horns of a D&D Black Dragon. Meanwhile, the Black Dragon looks like something straight out of Final Fantasy. I don't think they're bad designs, but rather that I wouldn't personally use them as a Red or Black Dragon in D&D. I'd paint them up differently and use them differently. They're still very interesting designs. Really like that there are 3 metallic dragons though, and that they'll all work quite well as those dragons in D&D. Also, here's the first stretch goal roadmap: We can see that the first stretch goal are the three large Wargs. The third stretch goals are the Tiefling warrior and the little fox creature that were the second stretch goal in the previous launch.
  6. Hi! I was just wondering if there were any reaper dragon minis close in size to the young green wizkids dragon? or any other dragons of any types that's not wizkids that's similar in size? I'm wanting to run an encounter with two dragons of the same size and would prefer not to double up on minis, and would love to expand my dragon collection to other companies than wizkids.
  7. Most of these aren't up to date and I've changed bits of them here and there since these, I'll be saving those shots for the finished product, but hopefully you enjoy the journey.
  8. is that true though? why wouldnt it be huge if the base determines that? Wizkids, who does the official D&D models (in line with the models from GF9 that are also official) have a line of dragons coming, starting in dec/jan, that they said are their new gargantuan dragons and described them as properly sized or something . Here's a pic of the first, the white: https://www.enworld.org/attachments/f53d5c97-bd1f-4dc4-b29c-ba25bced7bcd-jpeg.123086/ Maker: Wizkids / Wizards of the Coast Brand: Icons of the Realms Set: Gargantuan White Dragon, Arveiaturace Date Released: Jan 2021 really like the greek set. so nice!! regards, Sanjay

  10. Buckle in folks, I've got a lot for you today. Over the past year or so I've slowly collected and painted a set of the five Chromatic Dragons. When I first started collecting minis I'd picked up a couple of Dragons from Safari Ltd which were easy to find at craft stores. Rather than buy a bunch of new models from Reaper or elsewhere, I decided to see if I could make a unique set of Dragons using mostly Safari Ltd models. I flipped through my Monster Manual and browsed online catalogs and slowly picked out models that I wanted to use to represent each of them. I eventually ran out of models that I liked and I supplemented a McFarlane Toys dragon for the Red. I finally completed them early this past summer: The White Dragon Read on for More: The Black Dragon Moving up the Chromatic Hierarchy, we have the Black Dragon, represented here by the Safari Ltd. Cave Dragon. This is actually the model that inspired me to paint up the dragons, as it looked so much like the 5E Black Dragon artwork. Read on for More: The Green Dragon Next up, we have the Green Dragon represented by the Safari Ltd. Twilight Dragon. Funnily enough, that sculpt is also available in a green variant as the "Forest Dragon," but i already had the black copy on hand. It was all getting painted over anyways. Read on for More: The Blue Dragon The last of the Safari Ltd. Dragons, this is the Fog Dragon, which got a tiny bit of green stuff to look the part of a Blue Dragon. Read on for More: The Red Dragon I used up the biggest Safari Ltd Dragon with the blue, and I wasn't seeing anything I liked from any of their direct competitors, so I chose something a little different for the Red. I ended up with the Komodo Clan dragon from McFarlane Toys Dragons Series 2. And though this guy showed up in shades of red, I wanted to paint it myself, so it got primed and re-painted. Read on for More: It was a lot of fun painting up these guys, and I like having a unique collection. I'm also glad they're all done. Though I do still have a Shadow Dragon and a Dracolich primed and waiting for paint... and then all the dragons that are still boxed... and then that big five-headed guy I keep meaning to get around to... and then all those new dragons coming with Bones 5... Which dragon do you like best?
  11. So this is fun, because I can show you folks the Christmas presents I'm working on, so it's like I get to give them twice. Anyway, here's my take on her, really enjoyed going for a winter feel.
  12. We just launched our campaign for awesome gargantuan dragons, they are 20 cm high, they will look huge compared to 32mm miniatures, the design of every dragon is also unique and different. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dracostudios/dragons-of-the-red-moon We hope you can join us on this draconic adventure!
  13. I finished up a year long project recently. Started with white, then blue, then green, then black then finally red... its been a while journey with these dragons..

  15. Deathsleet, DDS2, Narthrax, Nehyrmaul, Fire Dragon, Shadow Dragon, Ebonwrath, Jabberwock, Pathfinder Read, Young Fire Dragon, Kaladrax (and all the others not currently showing up with a search for "Bones Dragon", such as Velocithrax, Cinder, and Blightfang from the Second KS campaign). What D&D/Pathfinder Size category are these? I'm having a hard time guessing, and wanted other folks' opinions. Also, if this has already been discussed, please send me a link, and we can lock this thread.

  17. Hey folks! I finished up Wyrmgear this week for a client. Took me about 5-6 hours of work, most of it on the brass/bronze and the wings. I went with a stippling effect on the wings to make them look like canvas. I used GW Karak Stone as the base coat with a Reikland Flesh wash. Then a glaze of Ushabti Bone and a wash of Agrax Earthshade. I then started the stippling with some more of the bone, then Ivory White, Oyster White, and Skull White, and then Pure White. The metals are Ceramcoat Bronze and Pewter with several washes of Flesh, Earthshade, Nuln Oil, and highlighted with Bronze, Burnished gold, and sliver (for the brass/bronze) and Gunbolt up to Mithril Silver for the steel. The shields are painted using GW Mordian Blue, RMSP Sky Blue and over brushed with Silver. The design on the shields was taken from a design I saw on an angel statue in our local hardware store Christmas display. I used a Micron 01 Archival Pen to draw it on. Thanks for looking!
  18. Been kicking around the idea of making one the Bones dragons into Smaug since there's so many choices of great sculpts. Therein lies the problem... Too many choices. I figure Cinder would be the obvious choice, probably the one I'm most leaning towards, but is there a better choice? I'd be leaning towards a more live-action look even though his wings are designed like a wyvern's. T'Raukzul would definitely have the grandeur I imagine Smaug to have, but the would put the project on an indefinite hold while we wait for it to hit retail. Thoughts?
  19. I haven't been painting as much as I would like due to some health issues. I have painted a few things and will be posting them on show off as soon as I can get them based. Most stuff I have been painting has been for my campaign based in ancient Egypt. I was getting a little burnt out and have had DDS2 sitting for about a year so I decided I wanted to work on the ruins. I knew I wanted them to fit together but I also wanted to be able to use the individual pieces separately. I made a cork "puzzle" and glued the pieces down. My painting friend suggested making several layers so it wasn't just flat and that sounded like a good idea so I made 3 layers to the "puzzle". All of the pieces fit together as you can see in the photos. Now, I want to use something to make it look like a hill when it is all pushed together. I don't want plaster because it would make it very heavy and not sure how durable that would be. Green stuff is far too expensive to cover the whole thing in. I am thinking maybe FIMO. Not sure yet. Need to make a trip to the art store. I am going to use pieces of cork and try and find a few columns that I can partially bury in the hill. My plan is to paint them up like Roman ruins. Think Pompeii. In the little niches, I am going to paint little murals. I am considering to try a mosaic pattern on some of the floor. So anyway, these are just my puzzle pieces so far.
  20. I am playing a sorcerer with the brass draconic bloodline in Pathfinder. Eventually, I'll start being able to turn into a dragon, starting at medium size, then large, and eventually huge. I already have a huge-sized brass dragon (77109: Fire Dragon), but I'd like to have a mini to use for medium and large sizes. What do you guys suggest, either from Reaper or other companies?
  21. After almost a year of work, I've finally completed this piece. 2 hours each on the adventurers, about an hour each on the terrain pieces, and close to 6 hours on the dragon itself. A lot of different colors used, so I'm not even going to try to mention them all. The terrain is mostly dry brushed, and washes. The dragon has no dry brushing at all though. Everything else is either layered or blended painting. Thanks for looking! Enjoy! (And yes, that is my YouTube channel in the background. LOL)
  22. Hey guys! I am looking to recreate The Heroes of the Lance from the Dragonlance books. I was wondering which miniatures people would suggest ( from Reaper only ) and why? Thanks!
  23. Qesnef, is an ogre mage who lost a bet with Keraptis and as a result must guard the fabled treasure of White Plume Mountain, the sword of Blackrazor, for 1001 years. In his true form Qesnef is a huge, horned, blue-skinned ogre but he normally uses his innate shape-changing magic to appear in the guise of a doughty Halfling when meeting unsuspecting adventurers. (excerpt from the back of the box, characters based on the White Plum Mountain dungeon Module) Painted for a friend. Cool model, I may end up painting one for myself one day.
  24. The small gaming community that got it's first two legs early last year is starting to flourish over here. :) Gathered a few people for DnD 5th. edition, too, now. I've made myself a Warlock. He will be drawing his strength from a Great Old One, only referred to as the King in Yellow. ^^ Guess what book his pact of the tome is inspired from. Hint: It's bound in human flesh, and inked in blood..
  25. Hey guys back again! decided to do a version of the Dungeons and dragons cartoon scorpion using the reaper miniature my inspiration was this guy : So I tried to capture the cartooniness but also have a semi real look to it! So enjoy looking and as always comments are wanted and gratefully received!
