  1. This is my entry to the 2017 Valentine's Day Painting Contest. I call it "The Ladykiller". It's a modified 77207: Dub Bullock, with a bouquet of flowers replacing his usual knife. It appears he's got his eye on some (un)lucky gal... This is my first modified figure, and it was a blast. I made the roses by glueing a 4mm x 20mm rectangle of putty to a jewelry wire at one end, then rolling it up, pinching it at the bottom. I shaped and spread the petals by poking at the coil of putty with a pin. I cut away the mini's knife and drilled a hole through his hand and
  2. "The Veteran" (Silver Medal) This miniature was my 1st time painting simulated battle damage. The goal was to make him look like a rugged veteran who leads with the javelin but favors the shield. His armor is piecemail due to battle damage so severe from prior conflicts that he's had to substitute armor from felled enemies. I realized he was a Warlord figure too late after putting him on a round base, but I think the round base actually works nicely with the piece overall.   3. Very exciting news for me: In about a month, I will take a hiatus from DMing and actually play in a few games. Other people will run the weekly RPG show at my house, and that's spectacular. First up, we'll finally get the Firefly game going that I painted up minis for some time ago (see them here if you're interested). Then, once the "pilot" episode of that game is over (we'll come back to it from time to time for two- or three-session "episodes;" not only is it in the same 'verse as Firefly, it's also going to be plotted like a TV series), we'll start a Dragonlance campaign.
