  1. A few weeks ago I posted my Paladin (Essach Stonebreaker) converted from a bones Duke Gerard miniature. This is that same character, but advanced to more heroic levels (we'll see if he actually lives that long in this campaign lol). Presenting Duke Gerard in metal, converted to hold a mace / morningstar / scepter from the "Good" weapons pack from Bones III. Like: First attempt doing anything like the landscape on the shield. Generally good depth of color. Got the face much, much better than on the plastic version (part of that is thanks to the sculpt though...bet
  2. Duke Gerard converted into my current D&D 5e character (a paladin of Lathander). Generally happy, except for the face AND ALSO the highlighting on the shield came out too sharp on the black portion. Will probably go back over it. The head sculpt is...well...shallow detail and an offset cast. I did what I could with it. Also put a little too much trust in the "fair skin" triad...low-contrast compared to other triads. Had to go back with a flesh wash, repaint...got a little lumpy. The rose-hewed cloak is for Lathander. The red-black-gold shield is his family crest. Clippe
  3. Having now finished my Kaladrax Reborn, I realised there were a few other miniatures I have painted recently that I have not gotten around to posting on the forums! Well, here they are, First up is the human fighter from the dragons don't share. This one was fun to paint, and I painted the shield freehand in what I thought was a very knightly style, quartered with a hawk/phoenix emblem in gold. Next is the bones version of Duke Gerard. He was more challenging, due to my decision to try and paint him in white armour with black detailing, again, the cross emblem on his shield was done freeh
  4. got this today at the comic shop. I was looking for a good looking Paladin NPC. I can see it now after battling a slew of evil fighters the pali looks around for something to take back to his chapter house. He spies a sword and it seems something is telling him to pick it up, what harm could it do. sure it looks evil and feels wrong but if it is used for good it should be all right, right? a sword is only a tool like a hammer right? who ever heard of an evil saw or shovel, right? hey how did this sword end up in my hand? and why am I feeling I should pick up this scary looking shield to go wit
  5. I took a bunch of random Bones to Reapercon to work on over the weekend. They were washed, and then I used brush on primer at the con. Figured I would get some tabletop quality work done while I was socializing. Well, if you were there and trying to paint you know that the humidity was bad and paint *was not* drying, so I didn't get as much done as I had hoped. For example, the wash I used on Duke Gerard took about 45 minutes to dry. On top of that I had crackling on a couple figures. :( I brought them home, stuck them on washers, and plan to finish them up this week. First
  6. After a lot of trail, error, frustration, and procrastination I finally am happy enough with Renault to call him good and put him up on the show-off thread. This was a lot of learning trying to get the NMM on his body armor done to look passably right and the TMM on his shield/sword done. If you are interested, here's the start of his WIP in my WIP thread, be warned it gets chatty in there though. This figure is Duke Gerard (Reaper Bones SKU #77063) sculpted by Bobby Jackson, but I did convert his sword by taking the scimitar from the Iconic Pathfinder Cleric (bones version). For my
