    Hasslefree's Hayden HFD027

I finished Hayden up this weekend and then took some glamour shots with my tripod when it arrived on Sunday afternoon (still weirds me out Amazon delivers on Sunday). Overall, pretty pleased with how she turned out. I could definitely do more to the metals to make them stand out but I'm done with her and am moving on to other projects (namely the rest of my November Challenge and the Saladin bust).
  2. Here's another group fresh off the paint table, a grouping of naughty nasty Dwarfs from Ganesha Games "Advanced Song of Blades & Heroes: Axe and Brimstone" Kickstarter. I've painted them in gray skin tones, that way they can double up as Duergar, or be used as Warhammer Chaos Dwarves who are a bit far into the Curse of Stone. The whole horde: A Screaming Face Axeman: His buddy, the Glaiveman: A converted Champion, using the Possessed Champion body, Chaos Marauder Shield, a Marauder Horseman head, an axe off a Chaos Cultist Champion, and a sculpted cloak to cover up a gap, and also it was the same week PETA protested Warhammer. The Hellfire Caster: The Hellchain: The Demonslayer. This guy is actually supposed to be one of the good Dwarves aligned with the Halfling Villagers of the set, but with his demonskull hat, he seems to work as a worshiper as well. The Priestess on Hell-Disk: The Fusilier, dong his best Jawa impersonation:
  3. This time, just a duo of Dwarfettes from "Song of Blades and Heroes: The Golden Lantern Bearer: The Panther Pelter, painted up to be the pelt of a Mountain Lion instead:
  4. Dwarves At Arms is the latest Kickstarter By Macrocosom Miniatures for a range of Crusader and Norman Dwarves sculpted by Alessio Cisbani in 28mm and cast in white metal. It is a 30 day campaign, its has been funded and is working its way to the first stretch goal. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2076383099/dwarves-at-arms/description

    Margara, Dwarf Mage

Meet Hatholda Stormforge, a firery wild magic sorceror with lots of charisma to spare! I had a hard time finding a mini for my D&D game but I think she looks like a sorc in these colors.
  6. I skipped a few steps, but I actually remembered to take a WiP shot of my set from the "Song of Blades and Heroes: Axe and Brimstone" Kickstarter. There's also a few Hobgoblins who I started in hopes it would motivate the delayed KS package to arrive quicker (it worked!)

    ChainMail Dwarf Berserker

This is an old ChainMail Berserker that I got out of the melt bin at Reapercon. His weapon was broken, so I replaced it with a GW axe from my bits box. I almost painted him up with orange hair like a GW trollslayer, but I've actually got a few of those figures around, so I figured I'd save that paint scheme for them. I gave him a bunch of tribal style tattoos and followed the advice I got on my last tattoos and tried to blend them into the skin a little more. I think it looks better. Now, I just need to actually develop some artistic ability and my tattoos might actually start to look good.

    77072: Bailey Silverbell

It has been awhile since I posted a mini here, and have been forgetting to take pictures before leaving the figure elsewhere. I painted Bailey here on a whim, since female dwarves are rare and rogues even rarer. I tried a new idea on the cloak's trim, and I'm pretty happy with it.
  9. So, I have flocking, sealing, and glossing left to do, but it looks like I've made a dent in all my end of the year Kickstarter arrivals, expected or not: This includes: Frostgrave: Forgotten Pacts, Oathsworn: Heroines in Sensible Shoes, RPE: Dwarf Veterans, Midlam: Wizard Apprentices, TAG: Halflings, and some other odds and ends I've just opened a package from Midlam of Halfling Wizards and Apprentices, so I better wrap these up soon...I think there's also some more Halflings and Chaos Dwarves due soon from Ganesha Games. I may have a problem...
  10. Yesterday, I wrapped up the final touches on quite a few miniatures that arrived via Kickstarter this November. I thought the first gallery should be the simplest, and it's just a few of the promo pieces from TAG's recent "Halfling Rooster Riders" project. First, we have the Drunken Halfling Bard, who I have been wanting since his green first went up as a fan project: And a Dwarf Floozy to accompany him:
  11. Some more minis, this time of the shorter variety, that arrived from Kickstarters I've backed. November was a busy month for my mailman! This set is the Dwarf Veterans Warband from Ral Partha Europe. They seemed to have a particularly frosty city in mind with their design philosophy. Dwarf Brewmaster/Apothecary. This is one of my favorite Dwarf sculpts to date Snorri, the Ginger Ninja: Dwarf Ranger. "Real Dwarves wear hoods, Mr. Jackson!" Sonja the Shieldmaiden (one of my suggestions during the Kickstarter campaign! Well, not Dwarf Sonja, but a Shieldmaiden) This puts my Red Sonja parodies to actual Red Sonja minis at a 2:1 The Wizard's Apprentice (though he looks like a perfectly capable Wizard to me) I'm really glad RPE went with my suggestion of making the Thugs real low-class criminal types. There's not many of those that aren't full-on Chaos Dwarves. These fit the bill for brigands and the like perfectly. Another total. brute, completely untrustworthy. Must be an expert second-story man. Crossbowman (Crossbowdwarf?), with totally fab hair. I hadn't noticed his thumb until after I edited the photos... Dwarf Scribe. Perhaps even another Wizard. A boar. A fast friend, or fast food for the road.
  12. These are: - Ingrid, Female Gnome: 03082 - Lydia Copperthumb: 03399 (Converted to hold rifle.) - Blackjack, Rogue: 60053 - Sajan, Iconic Monk: 89018 - Harsk, Iconic Dwarf Ranger: 89020 The party has set sail on a secret mission in service of The King. They are one dwarven fighter, one dwarven gunslinger, a gnome druid, a human rogue and a monk. I really hope the other players will like their characters. :) Individual pics:
  13. Sorry for the 'batch' aspect, but... it is indeed a batch submission of some of the last pieces coming out of the production line for Septembre and October. I couldn't really decide which one to post so here you go :)
  14. Howdy, She's riding a bear! Thanks for taking a peek, Kev!
  15. This wizard was my first large experiment with OSL. The WiP is here. He's now going to face our party of PC's in the Dragonlance campaing we're playing, playing the role of Rance Coalmount, Thane of the Daergar. Not our favorite dwarf, to be sure. But the party has bigger fish to fry in this battle, so he may yet survive; we'll see. Comments and critiques are always welcome!
  16. Working on the Undead Dwarf from Stonehaven Miniatures on a slotted base from the same. The resin base is flagstone and has a skeleton hand coming out of the ground. Primed with Reaper Grey Primer and lined with Reaper Walnut Brown. Still have some more lining to do. Stay tuned.

    77220: Herryk, Dwarf Cleric

Hi all, Here is another random mini I decided to paint. This little guy stood out to me because, for a Dwarf, well, he is pretty tall. He may not look like it by himself, but he dwarfs any other Dwarven people next to him. I wanted him to have a very bright and fire-y beard... for a change from my more usual grey-brown beards. So here is my take on Herryk the Dwarf Cleric.
  18. Hi all, I continued to paint random minis out of my large pile of unpainted, and here are Hordin and Gnasher. This was a bonus mini from the Dungeon Saga KS from Mantic. They were cast in "coloured plastic" (read by that, board-game quality plastic) but the details on them were surprisingly crisp. The only tricky part was that they were "ready to play" and already mounted on their base together, making some spots harder to reach. Anyways, a fun little couple to paint. And they may be used for some other games than Dungeon Saga (you always need a dwarf innkeeper in various settings).
  19. This is a quick tabletop commission piece I did for one of my friends who I play D&D with. His Dwarf Wizard likes to mix things up with his axe as well as spells. He also has an earth elemental that he summons as a familiar, which is what I attempted to recreate on the base with cork and bark. The figure is Dwarf Heavy Fighter from Hammer & Forge Miniatures. C&C welcomed and appreciated, thanks for looking! Edit to add another angle of the elemental familiar.
  20. Doing a quick tabletop commission piece for one of my D&D buddies again. This character is a fighter who decided to go into wizardry and still likes to get in the grill of his enemies to unleash axe and spells. Need to finish this guy up this week since next Saturday is D&D game day.
  21. Need somewhere to keep my dwarf army. Thought to build LED underground small garrison fort/outpost. Will have 4 floors Magnetized bottom floor for large models And will try to stuff as much detail as I can. Began with a wooden simple frame, and 2" PinkFoam. Was debating to build up all details and then paint it at once, or paint it in pieces and install them into the box as I go. Do to the nature of the LED lighting, and much uncertainties with LED lighting, I decided to craft it piece by piece instead of all at once. Also, I do not have a good way to cover very large, hard to get to, very detailed area with coats of paint very efficiently, thus will take slower path. Have some plans how to dress up the outside but want to leave that part for last.

    77213 : Awesome Dwarf.

I decided that I needed more dwarves with one handed weapons and shields, as most of my dwarf PCs - almost always fighters, paladins or clerics adopt this style + I had just gotten a bunch of random shields in the box of goodwill. The shield had a small skull in the middle, which I filed off. The free hand on the shield mimics the ornamentation on his chest (upper plate) the lower plate is four hands making a diamond. I think its a modern company logo. So Awesome Dwarf was born. I don't know why he got the title exactly, but that is how I thought of him, long before he was done. He has always been a PC in my head.

    wizard with crystal ball

I was just looking at the pics of the bones minis from the 3rd kickstarter, and seeing that we are getting a wizard with out his crystal ball I have decided to put him behind one of the bald dwarves in my bones collection. this way it will look like he is getting a reading off of a shiny head, or he is polishing the bald spot. your choice.
  24. Newbie painter here. I've really been struggling with the concept of highlighting, but I've been practicing on my newly acquired Zombicide: Black Plague figures. This is probably the best work I've done so far. I also struggle mightily with eyes, yet managed to do some decent ones here, which does wonders for my confidence. You might remember that I posted some time ago asking for help on the Nun hero whose face I screwed up. I still haven't gone back to her, yet, but eventually I'll have to. Here is the dwarf hero, Samson. Tips welcomed.

    Mighty Grum, Red Box Games

Mighty Grum from Red Box Games. A really cool mini I finished while working through my huge backlog of RBG minis. He's quite small so I didn't bother (or rather I can't do it) with the eyes. I'm happy with how the skin and his fur coat (although it seems abit dull in the photo) worked out.
