This is all mostly Glitterwolf's fault....mostly... His Painting the Pandemic Challenge was the excuse I've been waiting for to tackle Reaper's Four Horsemen. I first saw them at Leisure Hours Hobbies in Plainfield back when I was first getting started in the hobby, and they were one of those "I'll eventually get these", things since they kinda fit in with my undead army, but I was concentrating more on units at the time...anyway, combining with the recent events of the year, I've been tempted by the idea of going back to the start of the DHL line and painting my way forward. Thus the birth of yet another WIP thead. We begin with 02001 Reaper Famine. Other than priming, haven't done anything with the rider yet. As Buglips noted in his WIP, trying to figure out what is skin/bone/fleshy bits was a bit confusing. The skin is Ghoul Skin, bone is Dirty Bone, and fleshy meat bits and organs are Red Gore. Steel Legion Drab on the base, and began putting Rotting Wood on the harness and saddle.

The first of Reaper's Dark Heaven line, the horseman Famine. I was inspired by the events of this year, the Plague Year of 2020 (and Glitterwolf's thread on appropriate minis) to finally get around to collecting and painting these... The mount has a lot of detail, exposed innards, etc and being a solid chunk of metal has a tendency to "drink" paint. Went with a bronze style of armor, gives him a somewhat withered vibe. I abstained from my usual flock basing due to my plans to eventually base all four horseman and a converted Corona Chan together. Barren earth seems appropiate in his case anyway. Figured I'd provide a 360 view, so that anyone else deciding to paint up one of these has an easier time figuring out where the details are, some of them can be rather tricky to see first time around.

Hiya, kids! Been a while since I posted a work in progress (so many, many Bones), but as I'm presently trying to finish some home renovations and have had to limit my available workspace, I figured I'd start something new in the meantime before I get back to The Horde of Infinite Things. So this is the original gangster, the first guy in Reaper's Dark Heaven Line: Reaper of Famine. This is a pretty cool miniature, and I've had it for a while. Since... at least 2006. Anyway, this is my fourth or fifth try at this same miniature. In fact, I just stripped him again only yesterday. It's a very neat piece, but challenging. Some of that is trying to figure out what parts are what, and then what to do with them. My previous attempts left me feeling cold, and that it wasn't the right direction. But this time, due to the increase in experience painting so much stuff in the last two years and my growth of paint supply, I think I might finally get it done. I'm going to start with the undead horse first, so here's a look at it with some primer on to show the details: As you can see, there's a lot of neat stuff going on here. So this should be a bit of fun, and then I'll have the first DHL mini added to my collection to lord mercilessly over all others.
