  1. Hello All, Here is a Dwarf Butcher 77460 that I painted up a couple months ago. Thank you for looking.
  2. "During the first 48h you will get an Early Bird reward - check it out! Due to the fact that our company is located in Poland, and our direct neighbor, Ukraine, was attacked by the Russian Federation, which caused a huge humanitarian crisis in which millions of people were forced to leave their homes, we decided that 10% of the collected money will be donated to support Ukrainian refugees. Money will be donated to an NGO. The organization we decided to support is the Polish Humanitarian Action https://www.pah.org.pl/en/- a non-governmental organization that has been helping in all crisis situations around the world for many years. 3. Hello All, Here is a recent work. "Male Revenant" 77301. I did change out the head. I removed the original head and replaced it with a skull. The skull was pinned in place. When I first saw the miniature, it made me think of the old Scooby Doo cartoon villains. So, I painted the skull to look like it is glowing a bit with glowing pinpoint eyes. Thank you for looking.
  4. Painted as a gorgon for D&D, so iron not brass. Quick speed paint. Not terribly much to be done given the colour scheme. Tried to make the floor a bit more interesting. .
  5. Hello All, I completed this "Gutrags", Stitch Golem miniature today. Made it a bit dirty and worn.
  6. Hello All, Here is a "Dust King and Crypt" miniature set I completed a few weeks ago. Thank you for looking.
  7. Hello All, I completed this Iron Golem a few weeks ago. Thank you for looking.
  8. I tried to copy @Wren perfect color scheme for the female efreeti. Worked on her for about a week. Pleased with the outcome. C&C welcome.
  9. Hi everyone! Shieldwolf's latest kickstarter has now been fully delivered in another successful project and now we are ready for our NEW Kickstarter, this time for fantasy! The company's main goal is to provide new unique armies, with high quality hard plastic kits never done before by anyone 😃 We launch this month, every day or two we'll be dropping teasers, we believe you'll really like what we have worked on 😊 stay tuned! Link to the fantasy kickstarter! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shieldwolf/war-is-coming-reinforcements Thank you for your consideration!
  10. I stumbled across the plans for this online so decided to give it a go. It's made from foamboard, balsa wood, and cardboard.
  11. Painted a couple of years ago. The colour scheme took ages to figure out and I was quite happy with it. Definitely could have made the base a bit more interesting.
  12. Meanders: DIMENSIONS with Fantasy and Sci-fi maps and assets is now live on Kickstarter. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gametilewarehouse/meanders-5-dimensions-rpg-maps-for-fantasy-and-sci-fi Kind Regards, The Maphatter
  13. Here’s the first new project of 2022. I looked through the forums and saw a few versions of this based on the Redstone Triad. I will try that. I put a few pieces of cobblestone sheet styrene on the base, then flocked with sand. I hope it will look like fragments of an old road when I’m done.
  14. Hi chums! This is the latest Kickstarter project, expanding our fantasy range this time, and bringing light to the ones we have that might not have been noticed. Along with some super cool female minis, we have some brand new scenics too, and a whole bunch of add on bundles. I'll post more on the lead up, but for now if you're interested, could you click the "notify me" on the pre launch page and it will help the algorithms, and you know algorithms are the new gods! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/badsquiddogames/definitely-not-damsels-28mm-women-warriors-for-ttrpg
  15. Time for the next in line for Bones I. Aina, Female Valkyrie. I will paint the metal version concurrently. I already pinned the weapon hand on the metal version, and pinned the arm for the shield. I’ll apply the shield later. The Bones version still has a ton of detail, so I suspect these will take a while. Planning Red/Gold for metal version (her shield is a little Romanesque), and Blue/White for the Bones version.
  16. Taking a hiatus on the Mocking Beast. Trying to gain some victory in numbers on my Bonesium Horde. I have completed the beetle swarms, spider swarms, and skeletons without WIP. I’m going to do the goblins now. I plan two batches: one yellow/ochre, and the other tangerine. Some nice “non-Greenskins.” Several of these required boiling. Some are still leaning. The spears are straighter. One of these was the beneficiary of a weapon swap. I had given Danar, Male Assassin 77030 his shield for a spiked shield. In return, we have a dual wielding goblin!
  17. Greetings y'all! I'm starting this thread to use as a painting blog, to help catalog my journey, and to use as a source of ongoing motivation. I have a LOT of stuff I've been putting off, that I want to get through for a homebrew campaign I'm working on, and some warbands for Frostgrave, as well. So, I'll take any extra motivation I can get Once I actually finish pieces, I'll make sure to post them in that part of the forum. To start things off, I have a dragon I've been working on for a couple of weeks, and just got to the point where it's "good enough for now," although definitely not finished. It's easily my favorite piece I've ever owned, so I put off doing any work on it until I was "good enough" to do the piece justice. That is, until I realized that would never happen , so I decided to: 1) Do the darned thing 2) Do some work on it every day 3) Push myself outside my comfort zone to try new things 4) Be patient and forgiving with myself 5) To not freak out when I try something that I don't like, and just go ahead and fix it There's still a good amount to do to it (I have a list with 15 bullet points on it, and growing!), but I'm happy enough looking at it, and want to take a break to focus on some other pieces. I took some progress shots (though perhaps not as many as I'd have liked). So please, join me as we journey through my learning experience: I fully assembled the mini before putting down any paint. Here's where the mini was after a couple days work, about 4-5 hrs. I used an airbrush to give it a zenithal undercoat with black and white, and then to lay in the base coats of the red and blue. I then painted the underbelly and the wing-fingers with a brush. Here, I'm trying to show the work I've done (still fairly subtle, at this point) on building up the vibrancy/transitions on the red skin/scales. I was fairly happy at this point, as I could start to see that I might actually be able to paint this to the standard I want. The next day, I did some work on the face, horns, and blocked in the body spikes. I generally liked the mouth and tongue, but felt it was a bit vibrant. I thought the blue on the horns was alright, but also wasn't completely sold on it. Here's where it was after another `30min of work. Since I felt the tongue was too much, I did something about it! I did a very light glaze with a grey, just to knock down the saturation a bit. Looks better. I added some more blue to the horns, and still wasn't quite happy with it. Picked out the teeth, which is nice, easy bit of definition. And that eye!!! It looked much better than I expected, although that's the last time it would be that well defined... Here it is after another couple days of progress, building up that red (it takes soooooo long on something this big!!!!), as well as more work on the mouth/face. I'd accidentally painted over the eye (which becomes a recurring theme in this tale ), so I blocked in some color, just to separate it from the face. I added a glaze of 'RMP's fair skin' to the tongue, and now I'm lovin' it. Also added some fleshy-ness to the gums on the upper jaw (though it's a little hard to tell), and that was definitely another good decision. Here I continued to build up the red, progress is slow but steady. Not pictured (which is unfortunate, because it was a good learning experience) is my attempt to redo the horn entirely, to a scheme that was a transition of bone to brown to black at the tip...I was really unhappy with it. I had the bone starting around the eye ridges in at attempt to add more contrast and draw the viewer's eye towards the face, but it just looked awful. So I spent a good while redoing the horn and fixing the whole face. I'm glad I made that mistake, as I think the face looks much better than it did before I started on the horn. Part of that was adding in a new level of bright highlights. Here's the mini in some soft lighting, and although the picture is kinda blurry, it better shows the transitions throughout the red. I think this was also the point where I started working on shading the red, by applying a light blue-black glaze to the shaded areas, which really helped add some contrast to the piece. I had an accident that almost gave me a heart attack, where the figure seemingly jumped off the desk Luckily, I caught it before it hit the ground, and it sustained no major damage. It did separate where the dragon attaches on to the base, and although that was a little frustrating, it ended up being a happy little accident, as it made it MUCH MUCH easier to work on the base. I started by putting down some paints and pigments, until it was at a place I thought was ok. Also, the rock spire that it's curled around was originally about 6 inches taller, which I cut off to better see all of the dragon. So, I started work on sculpting a new top. I started by building up thin layers of cardboard with superglue, to level it off (it had quite a slant to it). Then I mixed up some greenstuff, and tried to match the overall flow and texture of of the rocks. Although not a perfect match, it's close enough to not be distracting. Mission accomplished!! The pillars were a part of the mini. And here's the beast in its current state. I painted the newly sculpted top to match what I'd already done, and left the pillars with a super quick drybrushing. I touched up the eye to look acceptable (it's on my 'to do' list), added some grass tufts to the base, and was happy to leave it be like this, for a time. The final pic is another attempt to 'more accurately' show the value transitions with the red, though the colors seem a tad washed out. Thanks for taking a look at my work, and for reading my ramblings! C&C is welcome As I said, I have a to do list for the dragon, but I'm not afraid to add more to it!!! I'll strive to make a post in here a few times a week, and eventually you'll get to see a completed dragon! EDIT: I forgot to mention that once the dragon broke away from the base (super cleanly, luckily), I took the opportunity to redo the underbelly on the whole model, darkening it up some. And along the neck, I experimented with wet blending for the first time! I've been apprehensive to try it before, but decided this was a good spot to experiment, as it's a large enough area, but felt less...consequential, I guess, if I messed it up. And I'm pretty pleased with the result! Next up: Frostgrave warbands for me and my brother!
  18. Next in line: 77049, Bones Arthrand Nightblade, Elf Ranger. I tried priming with a 1:1 mix of Blue Liner:White Brush On Primer. There were a few mold lines and casting valleys that showed up. I put a layer of Brush On Sealer on them. We’ll see how that worked.
  19. This one is next in line. He needs a better base. This is a standard Reaper 1 inch base. And a sheet of embossed styrene cobblestone, for model railroading. I superglued it on, trimmed around it with an X-Acto, then sanded it down to 800 grit. Any gap left is going to get the Brush On Sealer treatment to deal with the seam. After this I just superglued the Mocking Beast on. No pin.
  20. Hello there! Now it's no secret that I'm a fan of Games Workshop minis, there's two problems with this though, I can't paint armies (I've tried, I lose interest after the first few minis) so I miss out on the interesting units, and just buying heroes gets rather expensive! Then I discovered their Underworlds game, getting little bite-sized versions of the various factions (often with fancy bases!), and now I'm obsessed. This year I want to try and put a dent in this particular pile of plastic (or, at least cancel out the new ones I'm getting), and thought a project thread might help. I've made a spreadsheet, ran a number generator and picked the first ten candidates. Laserian - An evil Knight and Balmonoth - Insidous Rat-man. The Champion - Wandering Undead Warrior (He's not actually an Underworlds mini, he's one of only two Games Workshop resin minis I brought that were cast well enough to keep, but he fits in the skeleton faction.) and One-Eyed Thabron - Orc Mercenary. Awil-sin - Fey Elf and Jafari - Cultist. Yrkill - Sky Dwarf Adventurer and Fahime - Evil Elven Assassin. Padean - Barbarian of the Western Plains and Elodie of the Blade - Elven Peacekeeper. Started working on Elodie:- Being an Elf I used Elf Fleshtone > Flesh Wash > Elf Fleshtone > Elf Fleshtone/Light Flesh, added a drop of Scarlett Red to the highlight mix for her lips, and gave her a pretty decent (IMO) pair of eyes. Next is her wacky hair.
  21. Venomous Flowers by PrintYourMonsters. These are 3d resin prints. Of course, they might also be only harmless spring flowers on some sci-fi world. The smallest one is a bit over 1" across, the largest is taller than a humanoid figure. Overall I've been very happy with the Plants and Rocks files.
  22. Since the Eye Beasts are making good progress, getting the next model ready. A suitable Player Character model. Turanil, Male Elf Paladin. The plan is white and red. I’m hoping the peacock comes across as a Phoenix.
  23. The finished version of the mini WiP I was sharing earlier today. I tried to use washes and played with basing this time around. Any suggestions would be great as I don't feel as proud for this one as I did the Dark Chronicler Astrid I did back on May.
  24. I started this to be the BBEG for Dragon's Demand. I really enjoyed painting it. This is my first full dragon miniature painted. I spent a lot of time on it, and I'm pleased with the outcome. I hope you like it. This was my first time using Birch seed pod debris as leaves, and I think they look good. Here is the link to the WIP: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/92764-darcstaar-vs-bones-i-ep-11-shadow-dragon/&tab=comments#comment-1965291 C&C welcome.
