  1. From my drop in on London, I also bought a unicorn. Hell yeah. I decided to do a classical pretty unicorn paint, and I had all these grand ideas of soft blue hued whites and stuff... And it all went horribly wrong because I drybrush a lot and am less than amazing at blends. Partly white blends. I actually ended up just outright covering up all the Vallejo paint on here (on the mane, tail, and legs) and just going to town instead with my usual GW paints, and then tried out my new Soulstone blue over all that. I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up putting in loads of shade on him which I t
  2. The characters from the 2002 classic indie film The Gamers are back. The characters have been trapped in our world after slaying their players, and now we get to find out what they've been up to. This will bring us up to the cliff hanger ending of The Gamers 3: Hands of Fate. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/deadgentlemen/the-gamers-episode-1/description On there you will find the shorts from season 0 for Newmoon, Nimble, and Magellan. Rogar's episode is being finished, and there is a short piece that fits at the end of The Gamers 3. As a Kickstarter exclusive, there will be a
  3. I started this figure to show a friend how I approached painting skin. The figure is produced by Milosh's Miniatures (basically a guy's side project to make miniatures he likes... you can find him on facebook) and comes in 54mm and 75mm versions. This is the 54mm version. Instead of painting her as the traditional 'good' angel, I thought I'd do a fallen angel version. My normal skin mix was changed to create what you see here. The shadows are a mix of ~50% Chestnut Brown, 25% Rosy Shadow, and 25% Burgundy Wine. For the darkest shadows (under the legs, chin, etc), I just added more Bur
  4. Hey guys todays submission is the freaky Wolf demon. This is the latest focus of my Dungeons and Dragons adventurers ready to squeeze the life out of a half elf Ranger!! I am pleased with the fur effects ,Turquoise with green and blue gradients...Also the tattoos on the body I focussed on the back story of this demon being jilted by her elf lover..Hence the broken heart on her chest! I hope you approve of this paint job! I also finished up the base on this one yaaay! Any comments are received gratefully! Enjoy!
  5. I'd finished painting this fellow quite a while ago, but I finally did something with his base. He'll probably get some snow on it as well at some point as I'm intending to use him as a Frostgrave thug, but I'll wait until I've got a few to do and mix up a big batch of snow. I think the photos may have ended up a tad too bright, as some of the shadows don't seem as deep. Still, better than too dark. I was trying to make sure that my black was reading as black and not grey here, so let me know how you think I went with that (or anything else you'd like to comment on).
  6. I painted up Dub here to be a thief for Frostgrave. One of the main things I wanted to do was get the cloak reading as black rather than grey, so I'd love to get people's feedback on it. You may have noticed that he's looking a little bloodied, but that's because of the big honkin' mould line running down the middle of his face. I mentioned to my wife that it made him look like he'd been punched in the face, which got me thinking - why not run with it? So I glazed his face with magenta and smeared some Tamiya clear red over the offending area. Feel free to let
  7. I picked up a bunch of Sandra Garrity orcs from the factory last ReaperCon, and made a start on them with this fellow to test out my intended colour scheme. Still working on trying to get my shadows and highlights in the right places. Praise and thrown pottery are welcome!
  8. http://kck.st/1YVyxwv Wren posted this on Facebook. I was instantly taken by the artwork of the critters. First thing I thought was these would make awesome minis!! Backed the game + the NSFW expansion. Looking forward to seeing this one.
  9. I had some bits left over after the CMON Not-Conan mini, and decided to use them on a Chaos Marauder. The Axe, head and uh, lobbed-off head are the bits that was left.:
  10. I'm surprised that I haven't found a thread for this. I know several people here pledged for the Conan board game, so here's an opportunity to get even more use out of those fantastic looking minis. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/modiphius/robert-e-howards-conan-roleplaying-game?ref=users
  11. I'm not sure if this is more of a work in progress, or belongs here in general fantasy. In any case, I got a copy of a book* on do it yourself fantasy mapping for my older son for Christmas, and yhen decided to get one for me too. As miniature wargamers, we have need of a variety of maps for campaign purposes, and I usually rely on my kids. I wanted to see if I could do this for myself for a change. Here's a test doodle, to no particular plan, just to try the inking and watercolors, neither of which are techniques I've had much to do with. *How to Draw Fantasy Art &RPG ma
  12. Hi ! My name is Yann and I work on a new Kickstarter projet, online today :). My english is really really bad, so, for a good informations on this 3d print project, please, look here ^^ : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/vialudibunda/real-3d-fantasy-scenery-to-print-for-rpg-and-warga Thanks (,;,,,;,)
  13. In our current Iron Kingdoms / Unleashed RPG campaign, after my Nyss priest got one-shotted (and rolled 1-1-2 on the injury table -- a very bad thing, in case you aren't familiar with the rules) in our first combat, the GM came up with the idea that we each should have backup characters, just in case someone gets obliterated, or suffers another "Slow Recovery" result (as I did) and ends up effectively bedridden for long periods of game time while the plot demands that the others keep adventuring. I was inspired by a Hordes model, the Gobber Tinker. (Reference image.) ... And
  14. Finished these tonight. I think I've posted the vampire before, but I based her, so that's new. Now I am just missing three dregs, and the warband is ready to play:
  15. Making a Mordheim warband mostly for fun, as I don't have any locals to play with, but maybe it can create a little wave among the local Necro players. :D So I bought these really cool minis from Heresy. Three ghouls and a necromancer. I am going to need five ghouls total, three dregs and a vampire, but first things first. I've based them and shaded, and are currently waiting for them to dry: Based bronze skin tone: Shaded with plenty of Agrax Earthshade: Could not help myself. The necromancer was pointing at something, and I added another 'finger' from the sprue remains.
  16. Well!! today we officially announce the upcoming launch of the Champions from arround the ancient world: SET 3 Kickstarter campaign! The campaign will be launched febraury 8 (monday), and this time we are adding some special for you to use with the minis! As novelty-and since this is the last campaign for 28mm characters from Menhir Games- we communicated with 2 companies that created, each of them, rulesets that fit perfectly with the so particular miniatures: rules for skirmishes of about 4 to 12 miniatures (average) per side, having both rulesets a RPG “touch†making it poss
  17. I'd been working on this guy on and off for a month or two to use in Frostgrave, but finished him in a final push a couple of weeks ago. Awesome sculpt, full of character. Had a real go at putting lessons from Clever Crow's shaded metallics class at ReaperCon into practice with his sword, and I'm confident in saying it's the best damn sword that I've ever painted. Perhaps I may finally answer the Riddle of Steel... I'm also quite happy with how is hair turned out, though I think it may still be reading as grey rather than black, particularly from the front. There are a few spots
  18. I was fairly happy with this one until I took photos. See that I have managed to clot the paint a little much. Don't want to fiddle with her anymore though. The little tree is made from a dried grape-wine. :/
  19. This thread is more or less for recommending professional quality online fiction, mostly short, mostly sci fi and fantasy, to help people find enjoyable things to read. From Clarkesworld Magazine here's a sweet and tragic near-future story of an epidemic as told by a food blogger: "So Much Cooking," by Naomi Kritzer From Kaleidotrope, here's "Monkey King, Faerie Queen," by Zen Cho, an amusing story of what happens when a Chinese mythic figure wanders well out of his pantheon.
  20. Here's my Blindwater blood bowl team (lizardmen- although I think they might be getting a more angelic title soon anyway). I had posted some of these before, but I never got around to posting the finished team. So, here they are:
  21. Since they didn't fit in any of my other recent topics, here we have my newest Nurgle Lord, Rotmeister Gleb Festershire (who is totally not Otto Glottkin):
  22. Another set of minis painted as a learning session for the girlfriend. Basing isn't done.:
  23. I recently posted a couple new projects and here is yet one more! As you can probably tell, I jump around a lot. When I get stuck on a figure instead of banging my head into the wall, I prefer to take a break and work on something else. I will get back to those other ones, don't worry! But, for now, here's what I'm spending my time on. This is a 54mm figure from Andrea's Warlord Saga line. It's an interesting figure, although I haven't seen many other people paint it. The figure is called Sorondil, Dragon Hunter. However, over the past day or so I've decided to change his setting to
  24. Eww, yuck. These guys would be terrible to encounter in a dungeon. The primary colors come from unthinned inks applied with a heavy hand so they start to pool. Highlights were painted with normal colors. I used yellow ink for the right-hand one, and a mix of blue and yellow for the left (I don't have green ink). The bottom side of each is painted white, which is why they are so brightly colored. Then as a final touch, hit with a heavy coat of Citadel 'ardcoat.
  25. ORCS! The settlement of Unity lays quiet below you. Asleep. Unsuspecting. The humans who lay there hold a relic, and have no idea that it is the key to saving this world. Instead, the humans just keep moving south, away from the growing ice. They just keep raping the land for its magic, crowding out the Elder Races. That ends now. Your warband moves silently down the hill in the dark. Creeping up to the fence that these humans call a wall is no challenge. There's hardly a sentry to be seen. Even if there was, their torches only shed so much light, and the shadows are yo
