Some more mini's from George's archive.... Painted in the college years, 1988-1992... Some 3 Stage minis, only one of which I have all 3... Female Magic User (01-337) The middle one looks like she has a Christmas ornament on her forehead! Elf Thief (01-319) Magic User (01-317) This guy was painted by a friend in Germany in 85 0r 86 when I was in the Army... Kurt you out there!? (Gern you out there? I know your real name!) Thank the Dark Lords of Lead for the old Catalogs to find all the numbers in! Thanks for looking! George

This is Malena the Sorceress, special edition miniature, that I got during the 2015 Christmas promotion. I thought she would look good as an aging spellcaster. I love the MSP 9653 Deadrose Red color and was happy with using that color for her cloak.

Here's one of the figures I finished last weekend. Started her back before christmas but she has a ton of detail and I just got burned out on her. Pretty happy with how she looks. She's got a little shine from a bad can of dulcote.

I have a question on this mini to anyone who has painted her or even looked at her. She's 77036 Devona, Female Wizard in the preview section and part of the bones kickstarter. On her back are these two serrated bits that I can't figure out what they are as far as clothing or armor.

So, I continue to plug along, trying new things. I think this is my sixth mini up here, if you count the group of Astral Reavers as three. I was trying for fire effects and deep shadows. Not sure how successful I was, although it looks nice on the table. I find that I really, really, hate to base. The thought of tweezing tiny clumps of green hairs into glue to make grass fills me with dread. But I can paint. So far I have just been painting my bases, which in this case is a one-inch fender washer lightly sanded for grip.

I got to wondering this during a discussion of broccoli bases. Awhile back I got the Reaper set DHL Classics: Female Wizards. The figures I got did not seem to have the same bases as those shown in the online store; they appeared noticeably smaller. The central figure, in particular, had just a little rim of base around and under her skirt. I don't mind that at all. I glued the figures to fender washers for stability, and the very small bases made it easier to blend them in. On the other hand, I kind of had to do that because they were less stable because of the small bases. Has something changed in the sculpts? Was this a fluke, or have the bases on those three female wizards been reduced in size? Or is this just some weird optical illusion and my eyes are playing tricks on me?
