  1. This is Marshalla Sylvie from Freebooter Miniatures. In my Lost World she is Bonita, Half Pirate / Half Snake. I gave painted her base as if she was on driftwood in the water. Had fun with the Snake part and tried a little sheer on her blouse. WIP and Lost World Stories here http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/&page=103 Enjoy:
  2. <<<MOD>>> Link to the Live Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dgsgames/eclipse-sisterhood-freeblades-fantasy-miniatures?ref=category_newest From DGS Games, "We will launch the Eclipse Sisterhood kickstarter campaign on the afternoon of February 14th 2017. This project will produce the six core models of the faction: leader, caster, two heroes and two followers. And as many stretches as our fans help us reach! For the Traazorites, that was four models. Let's show the Empire these fierce women can do even better!"

    Shieldmaiden Bust from Nutsplanet

As my first finished bust this one was an adventure, some mistakes were made but lots was learned. It was commissioned by a friend as a gift for his fiancee now wife who is also a really good friend. He did not have many requirements, just a similar color scheme to Ben Komets's version. The only variation I wanted to do was the shield design but my friend was ok with changing it. I still almost went with that design but found my way to the one that I ended up using and I am so happy with it. Any feedback is most welcome! WIP thread here: Shieldmaiden Bust

    DSM Sitting Mage

I managed to finish this miniature just before I left for RCon 17. While she wasn't the one that got judged, I though she came out ok. Though the photo not so much.
  6. So, one of my personal mini projects atm is working on some of the NPCs my players in my homebrew campaign are encountering. And one of my favorite groups in that world are the Hunts - a loose-bound organization of groups (each called a Hunt) of fighters/mercenaries/warriors, each with their own specialty, who dedicated themselves to maintaining the roads and paths of Fidel during the millenia-long anarchy of the Mortal Wars. Now, what makes the Hunts distinctive from any other mercenary bands? Well, they ride BADASS FLYING MOUNTS. Gryphons, for the most part, although one or two specialize in pegasi, and a few ride more esoteric things... Four NPCs intimately intertwined with the group are members of the Red Hunt - a sort of catch-all for powerful, destructive mages. Faukner, her apprentices Formel and Tiercel, and her wife, Charr. So, I've had the Stonehaven Half-Dragon Duelist for ages. It's one of my favorite dragonborn minis, and I decided it'd be perfect for the swashbuckling Charr... It's a great mini, neat and clean with tons of personality. To give you an idea of who Charr is... Anyways, I've decided to do a WIP of this set of minis, starting with Charr's two forms. This is the thread for her humanoid form, obviously - I'm painting up the Temple Dragon for her dragonness form, and I'll try to do a WIP for that, too. So! I started off nice and simple - hit the face with some red, and decided on a blue-and-white scheme for the cloths. I'm trying to bring out some of the swashbuckler in this mini, so I like the naval colors. That said, I could use ideas for the cravat. Ordinarily, I'd paint my dragonborn's hair simularly to her scales and try to ignore it, but gonna go with dark for these dreads. They're sweet as hell. Wish DSM would give us a KS for these. And there's the face, pretty much finished, TBH! I washed it with Games Workshop's purple wash, pretty heavily so it'd sit well in the mouth and scale cracks, and then highlighted just with pure red. This is a proof-of-concept for the temple dragon, as well as a mini on it's own, and I'm pretty happy with it! Used Palimimo Gold for the eyes - something else that'll carry over!

    07262: Tuilin, Female Elf

Hi everyone, I finished Tuilin tonight. Color scheme was dictated by my wife and 5-year old daughter, right down to the sapphires and yellow flowers. I like her a lot. This was my first attempt at black hair. Critiques welcome!
  8. I had two copies of James van Schaik's 02863: Female Werewolf, so I decided to paint them with slight variations. I've painted them with realistic wolf coloring. That is, they are colored like actual wolves that have been pulled and distorted into humanoid shapes rather than the solid black or gray common in werewolf depictions. WIP thread here.

    Kitty

I started working on Kitty about 2 years ago. I decided to bring her along to ReaperCon where I got in the zone with her and finished her off. Lots of greens and yellows, but it's all centered around P3 Wurm Green, which is mixed into nearly everything. (I think I had just bought a pot of it right when I first started the mini). Helpful suggestions from other attendees and teachers (Cathy Wappel and Rhonda Bender in particular) definitely improved the quality. The base material is from a tub of stuff I received from Frontline Games in my swag bag.
  10. Couldn't find a good way to search for this exact topic, so please forgive me if this has been asked before. I am always fixated on facial and body proportions. I find that lots of 28mm minis have "weird" faces and bodies (too long, too stubby, etc) What would be the best female figures in the Reaper line that have the best facial and body proportions? #14645 Bladeslinger would be a good example of what I am looking for.
  11. By itself this figure is 02863: Female Werewolf by James van Schaik, but to be clear I got mine as part of the set 03495: DHL Classics: Lady Lycanthropes. I have two copies, but of course they are sold singly. It's an evocative little figure, with a slim build and fur suggestive of long hair. The tail is a separate piece which was too thin for my pinning skills, so it is simply glued on. I decided to paint these two in realistic wolf style. - That is, colored as real wolves would be, though distorted. After cleaning up mold lines, I prepared them by priming thinly with Titanium White and washing over with Burnt Umber. I also threw a quick green on the bases mixed from Yellow Oxide, Hansa Yellow and a small amount of Carbon Black (yellow + black is a fun and unexpected way to make bright greens!). Those broccoli bases caused me endless trouble. Note the tiny white specks on them? Those are tiny pits where the paint didn't take. I will eventually come to spend all sorts of time poking with specially thinned paint and tiny brushes trying to eliminate those white spots.
  12. Starting on my second project. Masterbox's World of Fantasy. Box states 1/24. Injection molded plastic. Didn't like the Footrests, so added my own. Added a cushion for her to sit on. Added some rings in his horns for adding reins later. Is now ready for primer

    77299 BONES Female Anti Paladin

This is was my entry for the 4th quarterly Reaper Facebook contest. It was good enough for 3rd place! There were so many well painted models, and awesome interpretations. As I was planning it, my starting idea was copper nmm. I didn't want the typical verdigris. Then I thought a bluish or purple to counter the orange, so that got me thinking Drow with purple glazed into her shadows. Then I took that farther to try to get OSL in her eyes, shield, and base as if she was casting 'protection from good' or something. Sadly, the OSL was saved to the end when I ran out of time. So I tried a bright rim around those areas, then a purple glaze. It wasn't striking enough for my tastes, but ... deadlines! So, I hope you like her. Sorry if the photo is blurry, it's a cell phone screen grab. C&C welcome.

    77299 Female Anti-paladin

For your consideration: Reaper Bones miniature Female Anti-Paladin. It wasn't until I started on my idea for the shield that I realized that *it* was the Main Character. Not exactly a daemon-possessed sword, but a symbiotic relationship none-the-less. Extravagant tone with bright, decadent colors. She-Hulk for the hair. Massive Voodoo for the dots. (More dots!) My cat Zen for the eyes. (He's a Tom.) Lots of non-textured areas to tell a story. Great player character or reoccurring NPC. A lesson of extreme - in Color and form. The armor was protective but the clothing was tattered like a torn mesh bodysuit. Heavy straps encircled limbs and the armored boots formed like hooves. Toothy maw adornment on the armor hints at hunger. A very introspective Pin-Up. I hope you enjoy. :)
  15. Yes I decided I need to begin my work so I can hopefully finish up an entry for Bombshell Miniatures, I decided to go with Qadire of the Sands. I gave her skin a base coat and painted up her eyes. Well I thought I had, until I looked at her eyes blown up. I think I need to reexamine her left eye.

Not much, just a photo of the figure with some primer.

    03364: Isabeau Laroche, Female Paladin

I haven't painted much in the past couple months, so I thought I'd correct that by repainting an old model that I had painted when I started the hobby and had stripped down awhile back. I thought I had pictures from earlier, but apparently I have lost them over time. Oh well. Here she is, my Flaming Fist mercenary version of Isabeau:
  18. Reaper Bones Beauty Pageant Sept-Oct 2017 The challenge: 1. paint 77413 Margara She was included in the Bones3 Kickstarter Core Set and should also be available wherever Reaper products are sold. If you have questions or need help, please post in the discussion thread.
  19. I do have a princess mousling to alleviate the death and dead stuff painting I've been doing. But I couldn't resist putting a face on this one. Any resemblance to FLOTUS is entirely coincidental, seriously. I think the shading/highlighting toned it down, but the figure does have the angular structure on the face. To conceal the mold lines I failed to remove on her exposed leg and arm I'm going to freehand some tattoos. I really should do better on removing mold lines. Oh well.

    Bones 3 Ogre Sorceress

Was doing some prepwork for a Pathfinder campaign and realized, the PCs will be fighting an Ogre Sorceress fairly early on. Kind of hit me that "Hey I just Got one of those" so while I am still working through Bones 2, I went and dug into Bones 3 for this one. and damn she has turned out really nice. Very proud of this one and can't wait till she beats down my players.

    Shieldmaiden Bust

Time to start a new WIP. My previous one crashed and burned fast with the featured projects being tabled for the foreseeable future. My focus now will be on ReaperCon projects, which I will be posting WIPs for soon, and this awesome bust that I call my top secret project. The Shieldmaiden bust from Nutsplanet has been one I have been interested in painting for awhile but never thought I would. Well a while back, a good friend asked if I would paint his on commission so he could gift it to his fiancée. He is also a miniature painter and planned on painting it himself but decided he wanted me to paint it instead. As his fiancée is also a good friend, I said yes. So enough chitchat, here are the first progress pictures. Shading on the skin has been blocked in and I have started blending. Not much to see at this point but any feedback would be appreciated. You are my only hope as Facebook is a no go.

    Grenadier 2007 Females #9: Dwarf

The dwarf is the 5th figure that I have painted from the old Grenadier 2007 set. It was so hideous that I never posted it, partially because I didn't really like the figure and just slapped some paint on it to call it done. I mean, those eyes were just sculpted circles. I filled the center with color, edge highlighted the raised outer edge, and then went around them with a shadow color. If you are an aspiring sculptor... never ever sculpt eyes like it is 1980. But I was talked into posting it, so blame 72moonglum and Volksfest for the horror. For scale, here is the dwarf between and Infinity Nomad and a Reaper bugbear. Knee-capping is her only option.
  23. Today (well technically yesterday, but since I haven't slept yet it still counts as today) I decided to take a break from my 54mm mini and paint something quick and easy. None of the Bones were speaking to me, but then I saw my unpainted Grenadier Females staring at me and remember that I had planned to paint the set this year. I grabbed the "thief-sling" basically at random and sat down to get to work. It would appear at first glance that she should be a relatively straightforward mini to paint, but there was a complication. This poor unfortunate woman was lacking a face. Sure she had a jawline, and cheekbones, and even a nose, but there was only the barest hint of where lips should be, no eyes to speak of, and to make matters worse there was even a casting defect going down from where her left eye should have been and onto her cheek. This and a few other defects were filled with brush on sealer and it was time to freehand some true 25mm eyes! Except that I didn't quite get enough sealer over the defect which made the freehand a bit off. The after painting sealing is a bit satin, which is fine for everything but the hair which lost all subtlety. To keep the theme from the previous ladies going I outfitted her in only the finest 1980 colors, and deliberately made a effort to use paints that I rarely grab off the shelf. This makes four out of ten taken painted and sealed. Maybe the other six will have their own paint days before the end of the year? My valiant attempt at freehanding eyes over a defect. And lastly, I realized that I've never taken a shot with a coin to show off how tiny the minis I'm painting are. Wow, she's smaller than the coin!
  24. So, I've started going through my Bones figures and this is one of my first finished efforts the picture in the book was meant to be a constellation but looks more like a plant.
