This sweet girl was abandoned and had kittens at some point over the summer. I caught her going through the trash looking for food and have been providing kibble and water. Last month, just before R'con she brought her babies to our back door. When they are not on the deck they are in the woods behind our house, living wild. Anyway, she is going in tomorrow for a spay with our favorite vet, and I need to come up with something of a name more fitting than "baby mamma" to go in the records. Any suggestions? I am fresh out of ideas. We named the female tuxedo kitten "Sugar Boots", for her white paws, when she got spayed last week. One more kitten, a dark mackerel striped tabby, probably a girl, needs a name too.

Fun Dark Sword mage that I finished recently. I painted her fairly quickly so I did not do a WIP thread. I am really happy with how her skin turned out, I think skin is finally clicking with me. Also tried NMM gold for the first time and actually really enjoyed it. Defintely will do more NMM in the future as it made painting the fiddly bits easier. TMM was a pain when I previously painted Dark Sword Miniatures with similar ornaments, it’s good for large areas not so much for tiny ones. One last thing is a slight conversion, she was sculpted with a bottle in her hand that I made into a mushroom to tie her to the base more.

I've had a lot of fun this august painting a bunch of miniatures. The first of them is that gorgeous sculpt from Darksword miniatures. Their figures have that old school fantasy look that it's really enjoyable, and a pleasure to paint. I love the character Medea, from Greek Mythology: my first idea was to copy the Medea on "Medea and Jason" from Pre-Raphaelite artist John William Waterhouse: but then I realized I've been using a red palette too much lately, so I changed to an orange-yellow one I've been wanting to try since I painted Ariel's wings. Since I've also abandoned the freehand arabesque I planned to paint and gived her a tan, the resemblance to what had to be is near to zero right now... Ultimately I'm happy with it, although I may have overhighlighted it. P.S. Thanks to the photo I realize now I painted her strabic....

This past week I decided to paint the Kristianna figure from the Bones 2 "Heroes I" set. I had recently seem someone post online somewhere (was it here?) some figures they had done with the clear weapons from Bones 3 weapon sprues; where they had painted parts of the clear piece, and left others see-through; and I had decided I wanted to try something similar with this figure. I had fund painting this one. ( I was watching "Point Break" as I painted it) Not that that is related in anyway to how I painted it. Just thought I'd mention it.

This past week, I painted Kassandra of the Blade from the Bones 3 Core Set. A couple weeks ago, I found myself painting up a Disney Monopoly Snow White figure to command a unit of Dwarf Miners (Long story you can read about here: Princess Snow), and I was really struck by the simple but effective primary color scheme of Snow White's outfit. I immediately decided I wanted to paint a Bones female fighter figure with the same palette. So, I pawed through my boxes of unpainted Bones, and fell upon Kassandra of the Blade as the most suitable of what I had. The one thing I didn't like about her was the dual-wielding of swords. So I decided to chop off her left hand and replace it before I started painting her. Then came the decision of what to replace it with. I considered a shield for a while, then in looking through my box of Bones transplant donors I came across Sarah the Seeress, whose staff had gone to make my Highland Heroine into a Frostgrave Appentice, leaving her with just her left hand holding an orb of some sort. At first I thought, no, why would Snow White be holding a crystal ball; but then it hit me: paint it like an apple. So it was an easy matter to cut off Kssandra's left hand at the wrist and glue on Sarah's hand with the orb. And here's the final result. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and probably it's one of the best faces I've done to date. Hi, continuing with the wizkids ( still 2 remaining to finish the batch I ordered ^^ ) but I just received some new Bones today , finally :D Anyway , just finshed one of the 2 elfes female paladin.

So while I was shopping at Ral Partha Europe (not the same as Ral Partha), I spotted some figures from Das Schwarze Auge which looked kind of nice in an Old School sort of way. Das Schwarze Auge was apparently Germany's answer to D&D in the 1980s. It was (might still be) quite popular there. I don't know the history of the figures. This is Das Schwarze Auge 15500F, "Female Elf Ranger". I have been thinking of her as "Plains Elf". I started this figure a while back, keeping it at the back of my painting table and adding bits as I painted other things. All paints used are Golden Matte Fluid Acrylics. Color mixes are (usually) noted, but not exact ratios. Questions are welcomed and I will try to answer them. Critiques are appreciated. This is the way I usually start miniature figures: Lightly primed with Titanium White, then when that is dry, washing it over with Burnt Umber. Burnt Umber is a dark, transparent pigment that settles into crannies when thinned down and shows the details very well. It also gives a nice warm undertone to later paint layers. I already painted her face before I took a picture.

This is an old Ral Partha Shadowrun figure, now sold by Ironwind Metals as part of the set 20-568, Male and Female Bodyguards. We're using her for a Vampire: The Masquerade character. I liked her Old School late 20th century futurism look. There is very little actual black on her. Most of that is lots of other colors, mixed. There is no WIP thread, but questions and comments are welcome.

It's hard to figure out some of the details on the Bones version, but I think I did ok.

One thing I love about this model: the jewelry. This sphinx has been hanging out guarding the pyramid for a really long time, but every day she gets up and accessorizes. :-)

A while ago I had a poll to vote which bust I would paint next. This was the winner. So we better get started ( ok I'm also painting my Brutus Bust but she was first) She has many options, ( with or without hat, with or without a parrot, and with a shirt or topless) I'm going for full options. Trying to make the shirt somewhat sheer. OMG...I never done that! Wish me luck!

The names were given by @SisterMaryNapalm in the WIP I have running for these little tykes. Spire was donated to the cause of this little scene by @malefactus. Love the stuff he makes. Needed to relax and paint for fun for a change, and wanted to try some new paints. This was a Fun little one, in spite of a slight miscast. Tuilin: It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but I even managed to get pupils in her eyes that I’m happy with, yay! The blue is a Vallejo shade I wanted to try out. It’s turquoise in English, but the Spanish name is Halcón Milenario (Millennium Falcon). I don’t know why they call it that as Han’s ship was most certainly not this color, but it’s pretty. Shadows and highlights were attempted by adding MSP Nightmare Black and Dragon White, respectively. Her hair was another attempt at the Blond Hair triad, which is taking a bit of effort to get a handle on. It didn’t help that all my brushes are failing on me right when it’s not possible to get new ones. Comments and critiques welcome!

I have collected some female werewolves over the years. I thought I would share them and see if anyone could add more to the list that I don’t have. The ones i have are from Norsgard Wrath of Kings Raging Heroes the Others Confrontation Ragnarok Cadwallon

A DaughterOfCheese abandoned the painting of this model, so it ended up in the Simple Green for awhile and I decided that her beautiful dress would look better with tentacles protruding from beneath it. Beautiful, sickly devil-flesh striding across a hellscape while she peels back her hood to reveal sinister horns. And it does get cold in hell, so don't forget your scarf. Or anyway, that was the plan. It turns out that her color made her difficult to photograph. The tentacles are formed around unwound paperclips, which were easy to twist into the right shape, but the flesh I added (green stuff, some clay, etc) was difficult to get to the right proportion without making it fall off. I'm new to this whole "modding" thing, so I'd LOVE feedback on it. :-)
