  1. Hey so this is my first post, I’ve only been painting since Christmas and I don’t have many friends who do it. So this seems like the best place to get some advice. I’ve been working on this fire demon for a while now and I finally finished the main body, but just wanted some advice for the base and what I could go for. I had a lot of difficulty with the runes on the sword as I really don’t have the skill yet to do it. If you see anything else that’s rough with it let me know please :) the photos are just a few progress pictures. Thank you!
  2. My Fire Demon was missing his lower jaw so I liberated Goroloth's head to replace it. At that point his wings weren't impressive enough and he some new ones from Rauthuros. The whole conversion took an hour and a half. Due to the nature of the wing conversion and needing everything stable while I figured out how to attach them I had to glue everything but the shoulder pads, hands, and base together. Those pieces will not be glued till at least base coating. Also have to do some minor greenstuff blending around the wing joins and between the head and neck. I may potentially swap out the sword for something else, trident maybe. At any rate, here's the pictures!
  3. Chibi figure I picked out of the Box of Goodwill last year. It took me a long time to get the color combinations right. I took the "Painting Chibis" class at Reapercon and it all suddenly came together once I got home.
  4. fire demon painted over a week in about twenty minute sessions I could snatch from the horrible horrible real world. oh anyone that has painted one of these in the past year and posted it in the forum I stole some ideas from you. too many to post, but you will prob see some of your work in this one. I have too say when I started this mini I was a little intimidated and afraid I was going to really mess it up, but it turned out really well if I do say so myself. lost some of the detail in the lighting and flames. comments and critiques welcomed.
  5. As mentioned in the "How did you come across Reaper Miniatures" topic, I just started painting two months ago. Don't feel like you have to go easy on critiques though. First prime, First paint, First wash Goldar (03461), painted grey to be a Goliath. First Boil and Chill (To remove lean), First eyes Dain Deepaxe (77074) First "OMG This is taking too long", First Dry Brush Bone Devil (77325) First Sculpt (cut off wings and used green stuff) Mummy Lich (77147) First highlights, first wet blend, first missing piece! Fire Demon (77315) Shameless copy of Fire Demon painted by mirrordissilution His right hand should be showing up in the mail any day now. Reaper customer support is amazing. There you have it! I left out the bulk paintings of skeletons and oxidation beasts (HAH!) that were hastily done for the campaign I'm running.
  6. Hey again guys. After the fun I had painting my original fire demon, I just had to do another. It was only after I had finished I realised the irony of what I had painted. It's not GW, but it is still a Golden Demon! :)
  7. Hey again. This time what I am showing off is the Reaper Bones Fire Demon I have painted. Looking around most pictures of painted ones of this mini I have found are all in reds and blacks.. I decided I wanted to be different. So instead it is dark blue with green flames.
  8. So, to go along with the creepy, creepy Worm that Walks that I'm putting the finishing touches on, I'm also painting up some demons for the Wrath of the Righteous Pathfinder adventure path that I'm currently GM-ing. I've actually got 4 to paint up, but one has some *ahem* naughty bits (Virina, Female Demon # 77067) so I'll not be showing it in this WIP. I may do an off-site link showoff of that one when it's done. Balor is (mostly) base coated. Pictures, as usual, reveal hard-to-notice flaws. Vrock has been bathed and boiling-water dipped and is currently drying. Babau is about 3/4 done I think.
  9. Wait, D&D doesn't stand for Demons, Demons, and More Demons: The Party's Screwed? Two lovely to paint fellows from Bones 2 were finished last night, the Fire Demon/Balor and the Minotaur Demon Lord. I tried to do both up to also fit in a Khorne demon army.
  10. Finished the balor fire demon that my roommate got from his Bones II fulfillment that I started forever ago tonight. There are some things I could do to make him better, but honestly I'm kind of sick of looking at him and painting over him. I've never painted anything this size before. I learned quite a bit. Like that I should probably paint before assembling (which fills me with dread because I already assembled the minotaur demon and I want to paint him too). Anyway, I haven't seen many of this guy painted yet. He's a fun sculpt I think. I was going for sort of lightning runes on his sword, but I don't yet know/have the brush control/have a small enough brush to be able to pull that off. So. Blue it is for now.
  11. I've actually been working on this off and on since my roommate's Bones II fulfillment box arrived. I've never painted anything this size before. It's been daunting, honestly. I also realize I should have painted the pieces separately before I glued him together. Which brings up a question: good way to pull apart pre-assembled Bones? Some that showed up aren't glued all that well and will be a nightmare to paint assembled. I haven't found a good advice source for how to do this (though admittedly I haven't combed through here completely).
