Hi everyone, I just completed this lady with a broom from the 02825, Townsfolk V set. She was sculpted by Bobby Jackson and is also available in Bones version under sku: 77088. It's a pretty simple model, so I decided to go with a little freehand. I painted her eyes as if she was looking downwards. I think the expression on her face makes her look like she's mad because the floor is dirty or something like that (maybe there's a rat in the kitchen).

I wasn't sure if I should post this in Show off or WIP, but I figured here and if you would please forgive the in progress parts in the subsequent post. Ron let me paint this lovely sculpt by Gene Van Horne. Actually, I think I might have begged to paint it and considered stealing it from his office if he refused. She'll be in the Greek Odyssey Expansion for Bones V. If by some miracle you have come to this forum and not heard of Bones V, it can be found here. Aaron Lovejoy was awesome and took some high definition photos of her after last Reapercon. I really love this sculpt, can't say that enough. She's got some fantastic detail, lots of good open space to work on blending or freehand, even a scenic base to play with stone effects. While I loved the original Yephima by Patrick Keith, and still use her in my classes, this one really screams warrior to me. I need to paint my bones version when I get it as Athena. I'll have to add a shield somewhere, though. Maybe convert the club to a spear. Decisions decisions. Anyway, feel free to ask questions. I'm happy to explain or help with anything! I'm going to post the WIP pictures I have in another post, so hopefully those will also be useful. Enjoy!

A little magic today! Here is 01402, Magnus the Wizard of Hope. This Special Edition model was sculpted by Werner Klocke and was released as a fund raiser for 9-11 relief. To my knowledge, it was also available on December 11, 2011, December 10, 2013 and December 5, 2014 during the twelve days of Reaper.

Hello everyone, here is my converted Reaper Miniatures 01411, Harapan sculpted by Jason Wiebe. Back in 2005, this limited-edition model was produced to raising money after the Tsunami disasters in SE Asia. The funds collected were distributed to the Red Cross and Unicef. Nowadays, this mini is very hard to find and the molds were supposedly destroyed after production. I was lucky enough to find one and spent all my free time during the last two weeks converting, painting it and creating a base for it. I converted its weapon by replacing the blades with a cleaver and a tiger paw flail. You can see the original model on the last picture. The tiger paw is front paw of a 02817, Moor Hound. The tropical planted are plastic aquarium plants. I painted the blade as a damascus forged steel and added a blue/green sky and earth non-metallic metal SENMM effect on the metallic parts. I also added ceremonial painting on Harapan’s forehead. I have used Reaper MSP paint exclusively.

The figure is a cross between the marvel thor and the mythic one. the warhammer handle is too long, it's part of the myth that it was unfinished (thanks to loki) and the handle was too short. I guess it would be less useful as a cleric if the sculptor followed through on this. I did not realize how close my color choices were to the painted example at the reaper store. the cloak pattern was about the third version of celtic knotwork that I tried. Its not easy to do on just sketch paper, but i like the finished effect.

Hello everyone, here's the result of my first attempt at sky and earth non metallic metal (SENMM). This Dark Heaven Legends model 02023, Tolzar Righteous Arm was sculpted by Sandra Garrity. I started painting it during RVE (Reaper Virtual Expo). I painted the cape as I was following along Ian Markon's class on blending through Layering and Feathering. I then painted the freehand at the bottom of the cape during Brice Cocanour's Beginner Freehand class. I finally painted his armor, shield and hammer head using the SENMM technique. It's my first take at Sky and Earth Non Metallic Metal. I did my best to reflect the sunset on all metallic parts. Let me know what you think.

Hello everyone, here's my second 06132, Skeleton swordsman. This Warlord Necropolis Grunt was sculpted by Kevin Williams. Like the first one I painted, the lightning on its sword is freehand painting. These huge swords are great canvas to elaborate all kinds of effects.

God this one was a fun one to paint. 🥰 Anyone know which miniature Anne is painting on the right screen? 😄 Jon Overton, Dave Pugh, and Anne Foerster I tried to do justice. Lol

Hello everyone! After painting my 16 Citadel skeletons, I wanted to try something different on this one. Here is my rendition of my first 06132, Skeleton with Two-Handed sword sculpted by Kevin Williams. The lightning on its sword's blade is freehand painting, I used Reaper MSP paint.

Painting weekends are the best. I'm trying to maximize as much as I can before fishing takes over my life and every free moment of the weekends. Although, I can't complain about wanting to get outside after being trapped inside for the last 6 months. These little fellas got done over a 2 month period. I primed them, then let them sit. Then started a litte, didn't like what I did, then put them back down for another month. Decided to spice it up and go for broke and just lay paint down on whatever came to mind. Glad I did as it pushed me to do something different. BATTLE REPORT! Wins: * I ended up doing an Army Primer Plate Mail color - even though I put this in as a win, it did have a few complications. The AP primer seems to make them tacky. The longer it sits the more tacky it gets. However, the win here is that it saved me a lot of time covering all the plate mail. * Got to test out what inks and paints do over AP primer in metal color. I'm not sure the paint properties were all that great, but I definitely learned a lot in the process. * The red on the broadsword knight was a test of shading and layering. Not my best work, but it gets the idea across. * I liked the brighter "knightly" colors used in Orange and red. * The checkering on the red/black knight was my favorite. A real test of patience in laying the lines down and then filling in. VERY CAREFULLY. * The Orange checker was less consistent, but good to test across a wider stretch to see if I could. It worked, Iiked the result, but still more to improve upon next time. * I really enjoyed practicing black lining with these two and trying to keep a steady hand separating the plates due to the primer just coating the whole thing one color. Misses: * Black ink does NOT coat well on AP primer. It takes two good coats and ends up with this slight, for lack of a better way of describing it "crackling" appearance in the ink. It's like it has a hard time bonding and drying evenly. Learned not to do this again. * I also learned that doing a checker pattern is easier with a dark undercoat and you don't notice mistakes as much. The orange/black combo really stands out where there's a slight line out of place. * Silver/Gunmetal are still super difficult for me to do and finding a way to make them pop is challenging. Any advice here is appreciated. Just something to make the weapons and armor stand out. Here they are!

I painted 07008, Luwin Phost the Wizard Reaper’s MSP acrylic paint, I shaded with Citadel inks, sealed with Vallejo Acrylic Matt Varnish and 3D printed the base. It was a very fun model to work on, with all the right gear for the adventure.

Hi everyone, here's another Dungeon Dwellers model. 07012, Caerindra Thistlemoor was sculpted by Bobby Jackson. I painted it with Reaper’s MSP acrylics, shaded with Citadel inks, used Vallejo Acrylic Matt Varnish and 3D printed the base. Her left eye is not as sharp as I'd like it to be, she seems to have a black eye, I will need to fix this.

A very fun paint job, working on 2 types of NMM for the weapons and armour. The NMM is a bit rough up close, but I'm happy enough with it when views from a distance. The free hand also came out pretty well. This is probably the most complex free hand I've done. Still some basing to do and could probably improve my blendingg but overall super happy with the result.

Hi folks, It's been awhile since I posted, and since I've been painting online with friends a lot more, I figured it was time to get back to it! Painted this one via Twitch livestream the other night when someone in chat suggested a freehand pattern similar to a marsh frog (to go with the "bog" theme). While I can't take credit for the idea, we took the concept and ran with it-- I think the freehand really makes him stand out! Below is a frog stock photo I pulled for general reference. The hardest part was picking a random pattern to draw on the wings and mirroring it on the other side. Oh, and trying not to make him look too cute, with big, cartoony googly eyes, though the sculpt is stinkin' adorable, I just can't stand it! Thanks Bob Ridolfi for creating yet another Reaper sculpt that makes me smile I can't decide whether I want to break up the beautiful matte paint finish (all Reaper MSP colors) with a gloss varnish on the egg-like-sac-protuberances on his back... part of me wants to keep it all matte, but another part of me wants it to look extra gross and slimy. First real attempt at NMM bronze, and I got carried away with the freehand. Doesn't really match the model but eh, I enjoyed it.

A while ago @Jasper_the_2nd sent me some minis for my Lost World Project. I painted the Clan Wars Naga Champion to fit in my world. This one is a captured Asian Pirate "improved" by the Transmuthor and turned into a Serpent Warrior. I painted an OOP GW metal Stegadon for my Lost World Project and added Foundry Aztec Crew. I used this figure for CMPA's Adventurer Challenge, and practicing chilling out on a figure instead of going detail crazy. Naturally that meant I had to try something new on it anyway. New: I put a lot of effort into her hair, and actually used it as practice for the hair on my ranger to get better hair methodology down. New: I also took a stab at NMM on armor, with mixed success. Not 100% happy, but it didn't get as much effort as the hair, and I wasn't going for perfection on that part. Same with the sword, not 100% happy, but decided to be satisfied until I try another figure. Because I couldn't resist: I decided the boots were bland, so I freehanded gladiola flowers onto her boot. Then her bra and her dagger needed flowers too. Her name is now Gladys, because she likes said flowers. The minimal effort: Skin tones. I went for a pretty basic set, didn't go crazy on this part, but for a "good enough".

Alright, so the moss came in and did brighten her up. Now she has happy autumn instead of dark autumn. The lights were getting dim but I had to take some photos anyway! I might update them another time. The colors chosen are based off real colors in actual peacocks, even the spotted sash (upper wing near shoulder) and yellow cloak (legs) and the hair (more wing colors). The tall grass is made of real peacock feathers that I snipped and glued together. I wanted her to be going between some fantastic brush on a rocky hillside. One of the feather pieces got stuck under her arm for photos... and by the time I noticed my sunlight was gone. The flowers are from I think Floranatur? Something like that. The rock is first painted as a gneiss, then drizzled in schist dust, with actual garnets glued in as cobbles, then they got mossed a bit. Not too shabby for first real basing batch? I intend to do a "how to peacock feathers" when 1) I get the energy to do another cloak in peacock feathers, 2) empty out my wet palette, and 3) pick a figure for it. I'll also be taking @Clever Crow's advice and increasing the contrast per feather next time. Enough blather - you all just want pictures!

I wanted to do this for the contest in December.... but got swamped by PhD applications. So I didn't finish for contest. Since then I have been working on her slowly, due to stress and illness. I want to be on top of my game for her. The toughest parts are done though! Thank you @pcktlnt for sending her my way!
