  1. Three more from the Undead Regiment. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/60959-undead-regiment-in-a-swamp-mixed-manufacturers/ These are from Otherworld Miniatures. Very nice detailed mini;s. I painted the snake symbol as a freehand again. And again reds and or purples as the Vampire Queen's Heraldry. Enjoy ( I hope).
  2. The Champion and some of his warriors ( I think I posted one of them already separately.)
  3. I made a step-by-step of how I painted the above logo. It was linked to a Google+ album but since it might be difficult for some to follow, and hoping those of you who want to do freehand but feel it would be too complicated will find it useful and realize how crappy it looks at the beginning, and how you need to stay with it and refine the whole thing Step 1: This is our canvas, the right shoulder of the Szalamandra TAG. I am going to paint the Szalamandra Squadron Logo on it, as seen on the miniature box. Step 2: I take paint and my Raphael #0 brush, and test brushstrokes to ge
  4. And for now my last repost. This is all I could find from my earlier posts.. So I'll be painting and then I'll post the newer ones. I'll will show some WIP's I've made alreadey. This Is Bones Kyra. Discontinued due to nosejob.. I used a tiny drop of superglue and I think she made it. The base is made with berry tea, I adorned her wit alchemist symbols.
  5. Hi, I made my first freehand, and im very proud of it! Mini is not finished but im so happy because of painting that i need to share. Maybe somebody has idea for base for him? I have to do his mask, face and boots and swords.
  6. My second paint attempt, modeled after one of the characters in the D&D game I'm running, a new and young roleplayer playing a blonde female human fighter with plate armor, longsword, and a "gigantic shield", and "pink gloves", that he voices using that sort of exaggerated Monty Python/Margaret Thatcher voice. And she collects wolves. Her name was originally Jonah, as in Jonah Arc, but when he was informed Jonah is actually not generally considered to be a female name and that Jonah Arc doesn't exist, he changed it to Jenna and I wept for our youth. Yeah. (Podcast of this is going up later
  7. Hey, it's time for me to post my n00b pics. Pointing and laughing is OK, but advice is better. One big lesson from my first time: sealing is pretty urgent, apparently. Bare spots show up in the closeups on the first day. I'm a perfectionist, so I wished my freehand shield was better, but at the same time I was fairly proud of it... until I came here and looked around a bit and saw some of the awesome work other people are doing.
  8. I'm painting this Elf Thief up and I am having problems with getting this cloak to work. Let me show you what I've done and then explain my problem. I like the idea of what I'm trying to do here, but the execution is poor. This billowing cloak is like a canvas and I want to do more than just paint it and highlight it. From three feet away, this looks pretty cool, but close up, it's rubbish. What I want is this purple with what looks like blue flames coming up the back. I tried to wet blend, but it was rubbish. Would this work if I went in and made my free hand very fine and tidy?
  9. Some of these minis are done, but most I'm still working on, which is why this is in WIP. These started as plain flat bases except for the little green and grey one in the middle, which is an RAFM mini with a nicely-sculpted but too narrow base which I glued to a penny. The two on the far right are Reaper minis I glued to one-inch fender washers. The rest of them are Hasslefree minis on the slotted plastic bases that came with them, 25mm except for the little girl who is on a 15mm base. The three on the left have asphalt-effect, which I did by stippling with a small round
  10. So, I continue to plug along, trying new things. I think this is my sixth mini up here, if you count the group of Astral Reavers as three. I was trying for fire effects and deep shadows. Not sure how successful I was, although it looks nice on the table. I find that I really, really, hate to base. The thought of tweezing tiny clumps of green hairs into glue to make grass fills me with dread. But I can paint. So far I have just been painting my bases, which in this case is a one-inch fender washer lightly sanded for grip.
