Scenario: I've been attending a quarterly Role-Playing event by the name of Drinking and Dragons. Drinking and Dragons Basically, we all get our geek on and run games a local restaurant/bar. There is usually a raffle for prizes during the night. The proceeds go towards running the event (they're getting a website now that it looks to be self sustaining), buying the next sessions prizes and any remainder goes towards charity (last one was $300 to the New London FoodBank). I've got a friend that I work with that has opened his own comic/game store. Right now he is mostly comics and Magic, but he will be moving to a new storefront location (right now he shares space with a tattoo parlor) around the time this takes place. He wants to contribute to the raffle prizes to get his name out there to the community (basically as advertising). He is going to let them order the prizes though him at no cost. He also wants to provide a big prize on his own dime. Something that someone would want but might balk at due to the price. I've racked my brain (it's a very small rack, it was delivered with Bones 3) and come up with a few things. I'm wondering what you, my fellow geeks would like to see at a raffle? He's looking at a max of $300-400 MSRP for a "geek smorgasbord" basket. Things I have thought of: Box of Magic the Gathering boosters (or smaller subset) Graphic Novels Bones Learn to Paint Kit Comic or RPG related board game Starfinder Core rulebook Dragons Don't Share 2 Any other ideas?

Every year http://www.extra-life.org/'>Extra Life runs a fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network. Instead of walking around in circles and getting blisters, gamers play a marathon weekend of games, video, tabletop, larp, whatever floats their boat. My hubby and I signed up with the Trion team to raise money for Seattle Children's Hospital (you can pick your hospital), and will be playing Defiance all weekend (when we aren't being booted from the game ). Anyway, if you want to sign up, follow the Extra Life link above. If you want to donate to http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.participant&participantID=55130'>my thing follow that link. Either way, please consider supporting this great cause, the kiddies will really appreciate it. (And if this post violates the rules, I really, really apologize, I didn't see anything about advertising fundraisers.)
