  1. Due to a certain person working up my interest in Battlefleet gothic, (okay, really all you have to do is wave a new ship under my nose, its not really a challenge) I went into my archives to see what I could paint to scratch the itch. So out of the archives I dug these ancients out of hiding to go from prime to painted. I am not really sure of their vintage but they are old enough to be something I bought when I was 15 and they are actual lead GW minis, which I thought didn't actually exist! Anyway, I thought others would enjoy them. They are the same color scheme as my favorite imperium fleet (I might have a few...) and I was trying for that sharp bright color scheme. I think I succeeded but to each his own. I think these are a pair of old crusiers and a battleship but if anyone wants to try their google fu and identify them, have at! enough said, enjoy a little fleet action on a Monday!
  2. Getting all, I have just been painting up a couple of teams for my friends to play blood bowl again, I haven't played for years since I was in the Waterbowl league, it was fun to paint up some fantasy again been doing a lot of sci-fi-fi and Modern military recently so it was a welcome change and has spurred me on to dig out the box with all my unpainted teams in it and get one done each month. This was the progress of the Wood Elf team which are called the 'Bare Arsed Chiefs' Nearly finished just needs the bases/numbering doing The other team team I was doing at the same time was a norse one same stage just needs the bases/numbering doing Been fun as I said I'll get some pictures of my other teams done which are Skaven, Undead (with werewolves), halfings, Vampire Counts, Amazon Raided my bits box to add some Team Score, turn & re-roll markers Just deciding which team to do next .. any requests
  3. The third mini from the Brigand trio (Gui, Bertrand, Hugo). He was a lot of fun to paint.
  4. Another figure from the OOP Bretonnian army. I painted him up as an older Robin Hood.
  5. Once a mere gladiator, Ventars brutality in the arena attracted the attentions of the Dark Gods. Remade into one of their champions, he now travels from battlefield to battlefield seeking out those that can provide him with an entertaining fight. Presenting Ventar, an Exalted Deathbringer with Ruinous Axe from GamesWorkshops Age of Sigmar range. This one was a bit of a challenge as non-human skin tones are outside of my comfort zone, but I don't think I did too badly. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  6. Working on something new, presenting Brokk Grungsson, Lord-Magnate of Barak-Nar, The Paragon of Prosperity from the City of the First Sunrise. He's a Dwarf Sky-Pirate who comes in lots of pieces:- Lots and lots of pieces. Normally, I'd build various sub-assemblies for ease of painting before final assembly. But with the way the flying harness is built around Brokk it's looking like I might have to paint the individual pieces as he goes together. This is as much as I dare assemble for now. Most of Brokk and the legs and shoulders of his harness. And then the painting began. Going against the official scheme (as usual) I've gone for red armour (Scarlett Red > Brownshade Wash > Blood Red > 1:1 Blood Red/Orange Red).
  7. My results form World Wide Miniatures day. Figure 1 of 3. This is actually the first GW model that I have painted. Not really sure how the colors relate to the standard color scheme, but I think this worked pretty well. Comments and Critiques welcome.
  8. Presenting Belisarius Cawl, a millenniums-old, cyborg super-scientist. He's part of Games Workshops Triumvirate of the Imperium figure set, and I've been doing a WIP thread for him here. Now I've got him all assembled he is a little too busy detail-wise (he could certainly do with losing at least one set of arms), but he was a lot of fun to paint up and put together and that's the important thing. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  9. Just a quick upload of some pics of my converted flower witch to a Harold on burning chariot of tzeentch.
  10. Presenting an Ork Painboy from Warhammer 40K. Had a lot of fun painting him (WIP thread here), and definitely want to get some more Orks in the future (unfortunately they don't seem to have many plastic characters). As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  11. Another Games Workshop mini (at this point you should probably assume anything I paint is from there unless stated otherwise), a former Dark Elf Fleetmaster (I'm not sure what his new, fancy Age of Sigmar name is). This guy was a serious pain in the bum to paint, even with my tiny brushes I was forever getting paint on the wrong bits, in hindsight I probably should have realized fully assembling him first was a big mistake. But I persevered and I don't think the final results are too bad! As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  12. Unsurprisingly, another Games Workshop mini. This time it's the mighty Barbarian Hero Class Character from their Silver Tower board game. Had a lot of fun painting this guy up, it certainly made a change from all the heavily armoured dudes I've been working on lately, and I think the finished mini is one of my best to date. Also got a chance to try out some of my new grass tufts, I'm in love with the Sandy Tuft so expect to see those little suckers on everything. As always, and comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  13. A deeply religious fellow, the Knight of Remembrance was originally a Knight Chaplain responsible for recording the names of his fallen comrades in arms. Spending too long seeing too many good men die due to the arrogance and incompetence of those in charge, he left his original knightly order to offer his skills to those in need. Another Space Marine from Games Workshop Deathwatch:- Overkill set, I had a lot of fun painting him even if he was covered in way too much stuff. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  14. With my Goblin Launcher thread stalled for now, I thought I'd start another one. We're still in the Grim Darkness of the future though. These are two of my Space Marines from the Deathwatch: Overkill set. I'm still re-imaginging them as Space Knights though, so I don't have to deal with official colour schemes and other related nonsense. These two are now The Knight of Wolves (Mohawk Guy) and The Knight of Remembrance (Bald Guy). Made a start on their heads this morning:- Bald Guy has a basecoat of 1:1 Vallejo Dwarf Flesh/Vallejo Wolf Grey and a Fleshshade Wash. Mohawk Guy has a basecoat of 1:1 Dwarf Flesh/Vallejo Rosy Flesh and a Fleshshade Wash.
  15. So in the tradition of not finishing anything and moving onto something new, my pathfinder dragon has been untouched for ages now. I moved onto 40k as my friends started playing, it awakened something inside me and I found a bunch of Eldar (the master race) on ebay for a really cheap price. They were already painted this incredibly bright orange for some reason (hence the cheap price) but last weekend I found this... http://www.dreamalittlebigger.com/post/galaxy-easter-eggs.htmland thought. Wow, those easter egg shells look almost exactly like Jetbike's. They're not perfect because I'm not spending too long on them, there's 10 bikes to paint so I don't want to spend 4 or 5 hours on each one. But I'm really pleased with how they are turning out. this is an example of the bright orange they were before. Edited to add in a picture with the 4th rider finished.
  16. will get some pictures up of him by himself later. this is a little size comparison for you guys, with a bones orc archer, my ogre chief Half Lived and Nagash
