  1. Hey everybody! Tried to get the word out by word of mouth, and decided on here might be a good way to go about it as well. The tables for gaming had to be altered from what was on the printed schedule due to some logistics issues. (Logic?! At a con?! Say it isn't so.) Games on GrowTix should reflect accurate locations (and hopefully always reflected accurate times). Also, there are printed schedules available on the table just beside registration. ALSO, ALSO, I attached the Xcel spreadsheet of the schedule if anyone wants to peruse. Joseph Wolf's Dreadmere
  2. On the Reapercon website, I noticed that there is a link to submit a game. But when I clicked on it it took me to the GM policies page. Is there a link somewhere for the game submission forms to fill out? buckyball
  3. ATTENTION TABLE TOP RPGers! It's been a while, so time to start up a group of gamers again. I will be starting a Game Session ... once a month for 4, 6 or more hours at a session starting the week of my birth ... March's fourth week somewhere between the 19th and the 25th. So this is an open invitation to any within driving range of Seneca Falls/Waterloo, NY area who are interested in participating in a month-to-month campaign. This will be a Roleplaying Game with emphasis on the story and roleplaying. Naturally there w
  4. Some of you know I help run a convention call MarCon here in Columbus, Ohio Marcon is held Mother's Day weekend in Columbus Ohio in the same hotel that Origins uses. This year we have a few guests, some you might recognize. Still working on media guests, but this is the group we have so far. Marcon.org for more info.. Author Guest of Honor: F. 5. Currently on Kickstarter for the next two days! I got in on the original release of this game and it is very cool. It's like a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure board game. It is loosely scenario based, but there is a fair amount of randomness and replay-ability in each scenario. I have played the first scenario four times and have yet to win, but had an entirely different experience each time. The most interesting thing to me is the action/health/timing mechanic. There is a serious economy of action in the game and if you aren't very careful with your choices, you will definiltey die on the contin
  6. Sad to say I have decided not to host Fiasco this year. Instead, I'll have 7th Continent by Serious Poulp. It's a drop in/drop out co-op adventure game that harkens back to the days of Choose Your Own Adventure. I've been kind of addicted lately, and since the games can run several hours, but allow players to join and leave at will, it felt like the perfect game for ReaperCon. See you there! Incidentally, part of the reason I am bringing 7th Continent is to hype their current Kickstarter, which may be the last time the game is ever available. But I learned today that th
  7. Now, MOST of us have a clue where the monsters came from, at least in a rudimentary sense. Tolkien invented the orc as we know it, and the giant spider in fantasy; Robert E. Howard seemed to have a thing for giant snakes. We know that centaurs came from ancient Greece, dwarves and trolls from Scandinavian myth, goblins from Western Europe, dragons from more or less everywhere, and so on. No, don't correct me; I'm bein' general here, and approaching a point. I'm kinda curious, though: Where'd some of the weirdier critters come from? It is legend among the Gamers and the Geekosphere about
  8. As of Wednesday @ 11am, we still have seven slots for Fiasco! Attack of the 50 Foot Fiasco - A sendup of 50's B-Movie horror.Friday at 10am Four seats available Unaussprechlichen Klutzen - Bad decisions in the style of HP Lovcraft.Friday at 2pm Three seats available We need a minimum of three people to play, so reserve your seats now.
  9. I was wondering if anyone is going to Dragon Con. If so, stop by the CMON booth in the Amerismart building during the day (9:30 to 5:30) as I will be there demoing games.
  10. So I'm thinking about trying to use the 5e rules for a more modern/no magic setting, that will eventually have some magic/alien tech elements. I'm just wondering how to prune back the classes and stuff to a no magic setting. Fighters and Rogues should work for the most part. Might needs something for people who want to play an intelligent character with lots of skills. the skill list would also need updated to include things like computer use, or would computers and cell phones be tools? Definitely need to include the modern weaponry, although maybe not have everyone be automatically prof
  11. As I have been painting mins, I have been more and more drawn to the idea of playing tabletop games with them. I have never actually played a D&D or Pathfinder Campaign with minis and I was just wondering if anyone around here can give me some advice on how to do this. Believe it or not, there are not many YouTube vids on the topic that are useful. The thing I am having the most issue with is the idea of using minis for every single encounter. Most of the games I have played and the few I have DM'd have been action oriented and I can't imagine having a mini for EVERY SINGLE encounte
  12. This is Just to Say I have painted the gnolls that were in the side bin and which you were probably saving for Gen Con Forgive me they were so vicious full armed and so cute
  13. So, I have been working on a Shadowrun story that begins in the year 2090 (so after all of the 5th ed stuff). The plot focuses on a 17 year old elf named Maisie, who finds out her father is a dragon (after digging through both Shadowrun and Earthdawn lore, I found that this is a thing that can happen, but only between a male dragon and a female elf, but doesn't happen very often at all. Like, once every several thousand years kind of rare). Her existence sparks an all-out war between Lofwyr and Alamais (who is crazed after faking his death for a second time using blood magic. His "death" occur
  14. Why is it so hard to get a game of Pathfinder going? Where are the people who are sane and actually interested in playing? I have moved to a new state and I really want to get a game of Pathfinder going and I am being stymied at every turn. There is a local game shop that has a Pathfinder night but it seems incredibly cliquish and if you're not a "pro" then you are kinda ostracized. Also, and this is a minor thing, the gaming area seems to have a lingering flatulence stench. I am an adult dang-it! I demand to not be surrounded by farts and snobby 19 year old's. I am not a "pro", I haven
  15. So this weekend I got together with my High School gaming group (like we do once or twice a year) and introduced them to 5th edition. Evidently it went really well and they immediately wanted to continue the game. Unfortunately we are about 2 hours apart so our face to face time is somewhat limited. I remember during various Forumites mentioning that they use virtual tabletops and wanted to get everyone's opinions. My overly analytical and opinioned friend Ron did some preliminary searching and came up with the following: I'm wanting to know what you use, how easy it is to use (
  16. OK well it's time to try this again. Our last Kickstarter did not go the way we wanted it to, and we listened to out backers on why it did not work. We are now back at it again trying to get this off the gorund. This is a dream of ours and we are not going to stop till we get this thing on the gorund becasue we feel we have somethign very special here. So I want to reintroduce you to our Kickstarter MidKnight Heroes Season 0 Reboot! What is Reboot!? Reboot is where we went back to the drawing board and redesigned our idea. We changed for a set idea to a per miniature idea
  17. Hello Everyone - We are launching our Kickstarter tonight, April 20, 2015. We hope you all can check it out! It will feature Misaki the Fire Girl, and more minatures will be unlocked along the way. Misaki turned out to be absolutely beautiful, and you can check out close up pics of her on our website. http://www.mkadventures.com/ Thanks for everyone's support! We have been working hard on this, and are ready with Production Metals in hand. Yes, the pictures of the painted Misaki on our website are from the Production Molds... Thanks!
  18. Inspired by a Facebook post: do any of you use physical props in your RPGs? 1. I often used actual weirdly-made ornamental perfume bottles to represent potions. On one occasion, I implied heavily that drinking this one potion would cause a one point increase in a random stat... but the PLAYER had to actually drink the contents of the bottle! The players looked in the bottle. They smelled it. One of them wanted to do the "dip the finger and taste" test, but I ruled that doing this would invalidate the potion. It had to be CHUGGED. Turned out that the main ingredients were coffee and lemon ju
  19. This falls under the "How come I didn't know about his until now" heading. I was listening to the latest Game Classy podcast and found out we have fantasy and gaming based bar here in Vancouver B.C. called The Storm Crow Tavern. I had no idea. http://www.stormcrowtavern.com/ Probably wont be able to check it out until after the holidays, but it does sound interesting. For example their "Roll a Shot" menu. Just curious how many other cities have bars like this.
  20. I would consider myself far more of a gamer than a painter. In fact, I got in on the Reaper Kickstarter specifically because I saw so much potential in their miniatures for use in -that- tabletop game. As a gamer, I therefore tend to paint for the tabletop rather than aspiring towards some of the amazing work I've been browsing through on these forums over the past few days. That's not to say that I don't keep telling myself that if I actually managed to force myself to sit and work on the same mini for days or weeks at a time that I might not be able to achieve something appealing...but there
  21. I am finishing up the exclusive Fiasco PlaySet based around this year's ReaperCon theme of the Dark Carnival. Here's a teaser of the cover that my brother so kindly put together for me. There will be four official opportunities to play: twice on Friday and twice on Saturday. Be sure to show up promptly as we had tables fill almost immediately last year. I will also likely be walking around the Con with materials in hand for "unsanctioned" games.
  22. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/enworld/rebuilding-en-world/posts Bunch of nice looking pdf's in this KS and I like RPG community stuff like this. Relevant with a ton of pathfinder miniatures arriving in March! :)
  23. D6s in different metals. The real draw here is supporting this great young entrepreneur. "Help me create precision Dice machined from various solid metals such as Aluminum, Titanium, Copper, Brass, Tungsten and more!" http://kck.st/VmKysd
  24. So, now that I'm getting a Ton of Bones and a nice chunk of Stonehaven Dwarves I really think it's time to expand my group. Currently it's mostly one or two friends and myself that are interested in the painting of miniatures and such, whereas the rest of our group is just about gaming. We try to get together once a week for a full day on Saturday in Aumsville, but it's likely we'll aim for Salem as our main venue moreso, as people are moving here (I already have as have a couple others) and a lot of them go to Chemeketa. Once school starts up they'll also be in Salem more often during the
