  1. Hello fine people (and other assorted things) of the Reaper forum! Continuing in our project of teaming up to show you two different methods to go about painting the same miniature, Buglips and I decided that we would do a WIP thread for Con Crud, Convention Zombie from the 2017 Reapercon swag bag! He's a great little figure, sculpted by Gene Van Horne, that we thought we could have some fun with. This will be our second shared WIP thread in this series of ours, in case you missed it, check out our first one where we painted Thanis the Bonecaller: As with that one, I will be covering my usual method of painting for display, and Buglips will be approaching the figure with his own usual "fast-but-decent method." As with the last one, Buglips' method will be much faster than mine will be and you'll get to see where our two styles diverge. We will be sharing our own issues, thoughts and methods with you in the hopes that someone will find such things useful. So on to the mini! Here's my Con Crud, fresh out of his blister: I prepped him in my usual way, with some diamond files to grind off the mold lines and bit of flash that you can see on his outstretched foot and hand. He has some notable mold lines through his hair and back and down the left (his left) side of his face. I'll show you throughout the process how I'll tackle those. So here he is after I primed him with Reaper's Brush-On Primer in white, thinned down with some water. As usual, I only did one thin coat so as not to obscure the details on him and I took a couple of additional shots from different angles so you can see some of the mold lines that I'll need to work on a little more down the road.

  15. WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/71625-oneboot-attempts-minivember-painting-a-mini-every-day-in-november/?p=1466407 I based my paint job of this little guy off of the peacock jumping spider (spoilered because spider): I'm very happy with how he turned out, even though it took me three times longer to paint him than I'd planned; painting freehand on a textured, curved surface is hard! You can see the orange strip here, though my camera is making it look more red than it actually is. Group shot! Peter spider wants to party too! Sir Forscale and Ruff the wolf don't seem real keen on this idea, though. This is the figure I painted for Day 5 of my "paint one mini per day all of November" challenge. Link to index thread: http://forum.reaperm...ay-in-november/ Huzzah! --OneBoot :D
  16. In between working on my Summer Exchange piece, and a couple of pieces for one of my players, I found time for these little guys. As you know heroes come in all shapes and sizes. They were inspired by one of my favorite comics to date, MouseGuard by David Petersen. These were a blast to paint, and actually didn't take very long. I completed them over two nights - a week apart - during our paint and chat sessions online. We are planning to run a Mouseguard RPG game soon, so these might actually end up on the table. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did painting them! Also, sorry about the lighting. My white light lamp has gone kaput and I need to pick up another one. Eventually I am going to get around to making a lightbox. That will solve a lot of the lighting issues. CAH
  17. For the Secret Sophie Exchange, my partner this year was Corporea. She asked for something fun and colorful (specifically blue, purple, and green). So it took me a while to come up with this idea, but one night in bed while I was mulling it over, the idea struck me that I'd use the surfer dude I had and the coral mermaid I had on hand. With him on a beach and her on a sandbar, a modern meets fantasy type of scene. I purposely left the figures shiny as they were (or are) in the water. Used iridescent medium on the mermaid's scales to give them a glittering/shimmering look. All the marine life is sculpted by me except for the turtle, which was sculpted by Mad Jack and I took from the box of goodwill to paint up like a sea turtle. Anyhow without further ado... I present the SFW pics of this piece with links to NSFW pics (since the mermaid is topless). Figures: Surfer Dude - Reaper SKU # 50099 Coral Mermaid - Reaper SKU # 03554 C&C are welcomed and appreciated! 18. I recently finished a set of several spider centaurs and a big spider demoness as part of my conga line of year-end finishing projects. These are two male "arachnid warrors" with some sort of eldritch swords. I had a lot of fun painting them. WIP thread here. Companion pieces: 77180: Shaerileth, Spider Demoness and 77182: Arachnid Archer
  19. This is one of the first batch of miniatures my husband got me after I got back into painting them. It's a fun, weird little set, with something like a lecturer or doctor and a useful anatomical skeleton specimen. The skeleton comes with its stand only so I glued it to a penny.
  20. So I got my Reaper Order a couple of days ago and inside was a "treat" from Reaper for their Ghoulie Bag. The treat consisted of a Giant Spider and a Sword/Board Skeleton. I figured, I needed a break from serious work for a few hours and decided that the skeleton was a perfect size to fit on the spider, so I went to work sculpting a saddle/seat for the skeleton to be placed on the spider so that he was mounted. I then thought to myself this is for grins and giggles, so that's their names! I present to you a very quick (for me) tabletop (didn't worry about mold lines) modification of a spider riding skeleton! Figures: Skeleton 77242 and Giant Spider 77025 Manufacturer: Reaper of course Materials: Bones Sculptors: Gene Van Horne for the spider and unsure for the skeleton as it's not tagged. A quick WIP spoiler here as I don't feel like doing a whole WIP thread for this, but if people have questions I can answer them: C&C are welcomed and greatly appreciated, thanks for looking!
  21. Been playing with the Bones Agramon for awhile now in my WIP. Finally got him to a point where I'm happy enough with it. C&C Welcome. http://www.coolminiornot.com/390239 Edit to fix photos.
  22. This is one of six Mouslings I've painted out of the ten new ones from the Bones II Kickstarter. I'm a little ambivalent about the "girly" Mouslings with the bosoms and the hair and the feminine accoutrements. I prefer to think of the Mouslings overall as general-purpose, could be boys or girls. Anyhow, this one, like the rest of them, has fun and not too fiddly details. WIP thread here. Other painted Mouslings: 92743, Archer (Robin Hood), 92744, Druid, 92746, Thief, 92747, Beekeeper, 92749, Assassin
  23. This is one of the new Bones Mouslings from Reaper's second Kickstarter. I painted up six (out of ten) of them for a campaign. Two of them are archers. This one is sculpted up like a tiny Robin Hood. WIP thread here. Other painted Mouslings: 92744, Druid, 92745, Archer (squire), 92746, Thief, 92747, Beekeeper, 92749, Assassin
  24. This is one of six Mouslings from the Bones II Kickstarter that I have painted up as characters. This is a druid with an orb on a staff and the tiniest chibi frog imaginable on top. WIP thread here. The other Mouslings: Thief, Beekeeper, Assassin, Ranger (with Bow), Archer (Robin Hood)
