Reducted painting & forumming this week due to fibro but have finished this guy. I have an ambition to paint all the miniatures for Against The Giants - 30 odd years ago we had 3 actual "giant" figures and improvised.... Reaper Bones have been fantastic but A lot of the monsters are giant servants -weaker than the fighters ( hill giant servants fight as ogres), Gary did allow room for the servants to make deals with the party to avoid being killed ( we just killed them - twice...). I couldn't find any Giant Servant figures but then I thought of Heroforge....turns out that XL figures printed double size make very reasonable giants - and they are fun to design. I added the patch and the waistcoat belt ends with Green Stuff This is the first one finished. I made a big cock-up in the design -the cat was meant to be Mrs Norris like - but I managed to have it overlap with a bottle - so one paw is missing and the other goes through the bottle...I thought it could be a ghost, then an alcoholic delusion so a pink cat...a cat that was only part there... Butler is probably the brightest hill giant, being part-cloud giant. On a visit to relatives, he noticed that the cloud giants' servants tended to be in control of cellars, food, etc., and spotted an opportunity. Filching a velvet waistcoat, now extremely worn, and adding pinstripes to his trousers, he effectively placed himself in charge of the steading's supplies, and has built up quite a collection of coins and potions (etc.). Unfortunately, he has also been drinking sneakily from both the alcohol supplies and the potion stocks. Hence now he is followed by an irritating pink and purple cat who most of the time no one else can see...

I've always loved the sculpt of this model. It captures a real sense of movement, which is something I'm always impressed by. I painted it up using color shift paint. Basically, it looks green from one angle and takes a goodish tint from other angles (it's hard to capture the effect in still images, obviously). Overall, I think it came out looking okay. Thoughts and criticism welcomed.

I got this Etsy banshee as a gift and she's a really good one. I had it mind to make it like one of those horror movies where they use B&W overlays for the ghost, sometimes with a bluish tinge. Close enough 😄 The other bones at her feet were from a different vendor and I just painted on a faux dungeon floor for her to pop out of. She actually had really nice claws, but she's so extremely brittle they just snapped off as I was cleaning her up. Watch out for those Etsy models. They seem to be super fragile and not as good for regular play like Bones. Still not sure about the eyes though they stand out as intended. I may go back and tinker with that later. Tips, hints, critiques, it's all good 🙂

I wanted to just get something done, so I did this ghost up in about an hour. I did go back and try to do a little OSL on the tombstone where it was phasing through it. Basing was an extra 20 minutes or so. It's nothing spectacular, but it'll look good on the table.

I painted this wraith as part of my Secret Sophie. I worked forever on the sword and it finally clicked and I ended up pretty proud of it.

One of the first figures I pulled out of the Bones5 core set was this guy. Had fun doing him in non traditional colors. The flash made him look a little brighter than it really is.

It's the weekend - you know what time it is! This little monstrosity was sitting on my desk looking at me for the past 4 months. I attempted painting it back in October and failed miserably at it. I was trying a blue/white combo that just didn't come out well. It also had a few issues with the fact I primed it with a black Vallejo spray primer that left it feeling tacky. The first round was a dud, and I often find that redoing a miniature is not the wisest thing because it can leave me feeling like I have to perfect it over and over again. However, this was not the case this time. After watching the dreaded White/Black tutorial on RVE today, I found myself inspired to try again. Thankfully I had stripped it last week and it was ready to begin again today. BATTLE REPORT! Wins: * Stripping this with Simple Green worked great. Left it in for about a 4 days, brushed it with an electric toothbrush (which is a must in my opinion). * Sadly the tacky primer was not coming off, but it still took to the overspray of Stynylrez black over it without too many issues. I then sprayed a white ink over it. I did notice a slight 'crackling' of the ink over it, but I'll get to that later. * Using the zenithal prime as my map, I starting by laying the darkest grey into the crevices and folds. Following that wwa the next grey up and again with the light "ghostly white." * These were all close enough I didn't need to transition or mix much between the colors as the moodiness of this mini seemed to play well to the contrasts. I did get a little carried away on the hood with longer streaks instead of just highlights and did a mid-grey glaze over that to hide it. Worked better than I thought. * The face and hands were using some SAMPLE that was sent to me in one of my Reaper orders that's this really, really, really lovely blue. I used it to baselayer, then lightned up with white. AWESOME. I love it. The blend between the ghastly skin and the robes really came out better than I hoped. * With the new confidence in getting to white, I felt pretty good using lighter colors and having a sense that this could be perceived as a white appiration. Misses: * Still the darkest grey wasn't dark enough. Tried adding black and going back in, but it kind of made it more spotty than I hoped. * Used a Drakenshade wash to fill in some of the areas, but it's deeper than I wanted, but still does a decent job of not taking away from the other painting. * Mouth - is there something else I sshoul have done? Maybe make it glowing? Make it dark black? I wasn't sure. Still need some help on that one. I'll have to make the tombstone pop a little more and lay some ground effects down on the final basing when I get there. To say that this went from a total botched job to something I felt good enough about sharing, this is definitely a win. Big kudos to the classes with RVE and getting to test it immediately to try my hand at something I was weak at. WAY TO GO! And as always - any feedback is kindly accepted.

Dark Haven Legends Borley, Male ghost. I had a lot of fun this this one, On top of making him fly, I really wanted to make it look like he was from a black and white movie. Doing that but keeping everything distinct with such a limited color palette was challenging. I really enjoyed this project. I hope you like it.

Female Spectre from EPIC Miniatures Printed on Elegoo Mars Elegoo Grey Resin. WIP: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79298-children-of-the-night-by-glitterwolf/ Once she was loved, then betrayed and murdered in cold blood. He got away with it and to keep up appearances he laid flowers on her grave. Thinking he could be happy with his new found love, keeping it a secret for now. In a while he would "meet a new girl" again and nobody would ever suspect the truth. One last time to play the grieving widower, he walked to her grave with some flowers in hand. Some other visitors looked at him, feeling sorrow for his loss. He smiled inside, if only they knew. The others left the cemetary. He laid down the flowers, no need to hang around if nobody was around. Besides he was longing for his new girl, one more look at the tombstone, a shame she wouldn't let him go. He had to free himself from her, too bad it had to end this way. Goodbye! He whispered and turned around. Oh, don't go yet! He heard a whispering voice say. A cold wind blew around his neck, he turned around and saw her ghost emerging from the grave. Two shiny daggers in her hands. You'll stay with me...forever!

So I finished the Undead Regiment. Background story.. the Vampire Queen lost a big battle, fled to a swamp/jungle area. Subdued the swampfolk and now faces a rebellion. Some swamp creatures follow her, others oppose her. Here is the full regiment. Mixed Manufacturers. Mixed types of Undead. I will post them separatly or in smaller groups for better pics of them all. I will try not to flood the forum, so today the regiment and the first solo/smaller groups. The rest will follow shortly. The Vampire Queens heraldry is red and purple so all the Undead have this colours somewhere. Also as a sign she is mistress of the swamp, her heraldry has a snake in it, variations are found on the shields and banner. Now the horde:

This is Yuki Onna. One of my first 3D printed models. I kept the colourscheme simple. She's a ghost for my Nippon, Land of the Rising Moon, Project. WIP HERE: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79416-nippon-land-of-the-rising-moon-by-glitterwolf/page/14/#comments She got a base from the Artisan Guild Oni set. I painted her eyes red, not sure if it's visible.

The Cleric in my D&D group leveled up and acquired the Spiritual Guardian skill. He needed a model to represent his Guardian. Honaire looks so cool, but he didn't have a shield. I found one in my bits box, and painted the symbol of his chosen Deity, Chauntea. I loved painting this because the simple palette left more room to just relax and enjoy the work.

I got these guys painted sometime last year, but I'm just now getting around to showing them off. They were spray painted with a glow in the dark green spray paint, which I was expecting would tinge them with a spectral look from above, and it didn't work, so I just sprayed the whole mini, then inked them, dry brushed them, and then did the painting on the bases and weapons and such. I'm pretty satisfied with them overall, though I think the eyes aren't as obvious in the photos as they should be. Oh! And they glow in the dark a bit, though that's hard to photograph...

A pair of Bones figures quickly painted as part of my annual Thanksgiving Paint Binge. Based with white primer and then a layer of one of the Citadel white contrast paints. Went over it with a watered down blue contrast paint, then drybrushed white. Picked out the face and bones with watered down black ink. I think they came out pretty well for almost no effort and they can be used in any game where you need a ghostly or summoned figure. I'm tempted to get more and do them in red as fire spirits.

Mark Kay didn't seem to make many sculpts for Reaper, but he made two Ghosts, and they are ghastly in every sense. They are incongruous, evocative, weird. Here's 02363. The Apparition. An unheimlich, eerie figure. Dread. The Uncanny Valley is only part of the unease engendered; in many of the Victorian ghost stories there is also a strong element of social anxiety. The enigma wants something, it is *owed* something, or there is an obligation from someone which must be fulfilled, and there is an almost insurmountable communications barrier. This is the fear of the Past that Won't Go Away, the dread of shirked duties, the fear of inescapable generational obligations, the sins of the fathers visited on their children. Look at this big-knuckled hairy revenant! It reminds me horribly of an illustration in a book that used to frighten me as a child. What does it WANT? Probably blood. Probably YOUR blood! His other ghost, 02314, is equally mysterious but tells a very different story. That Ron Perlman jaw, that shallow forehead, the monk's robe! Less pvertly threatening, but every bit as unheimlich. The terror of a ghost isn't really so much what it can *do* to you, anyway. The fear of ghosts is based in that they ARE at all. And here seems as good a place as any to put a retouched Pistol Wraith from Warmahordes. Similarly a robed skeleton with accessories that tell a story--the story of a ghost...with GUNS! What now?! I love this sculpt partly because of the questions it raises. Why would a ghost with a gun be any more threatening than a ghost without a gun? Is a ghost gun as good as the usual at punching the soul out from a body? Better? Do incorporeal bullets ignore cover?

I recently painted a pack of passed-away pea-green pirates that you can practically peer through, and posed the party for some pictures. Pithy painting prose on the particulars posted for perusal: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2019/05/ghost-pirates-bones-4-figures.html I ordered an additional set of the pirates so i could have a unit of 10 for gaming purposes.

Hey, long time no post. I've been painting up some spooky minis for a Curse of Strahd campaign. Painted these two and finished last night. I started with an airbrush, but ended with a whole lot of brushwork and glazing.

This figure is the Reaper 3718 Ghostbride in metal. I wanted to do some white practice on her, and she is probably my most artsy figure, considering she has a purple base and not some mundane colored ground. I tried to have her be very white, with the white being on top of different base colors, but at the same time have the purple come up from the base. Mostly happy with her. I had planned on having her hair be blond, but the dark hair just popped so nicely against the pale skin. As a bonus, she did see some game time in our last session as the ghost of a young woman killed by her jealous fiance. Her father became a vampire to try to bring her back to life.

These are from the Ghosts of Midlam Manor Kickstarter. I love these sculpts and I just got an airbrush, so I wanted to try sort of a blue zenithal ghost effect. They are more blue than the camera shows, I'm still getting used to the photo booth and lighting. (Plus I should probably use the real camera instead of my phone.) Overall I'm happy!

This miniature is from a Midlam Miniatures kickstarter. The lack of highlighting and shading is intentional since I was going for the single-color arcade look. I had to put some putty over the sculpted eye holes to get a nice flat surface for the cartoony eyes. Overall I'm quite happy with Inky! This is for the video game theme portion of the RP Challenge.

I did a quick paint job on a female wraith for my D&D games. I didn't do a lot of detail on her. I wanted her to look a little glowy and creepy. I think she turned out pretty well and will be adequately scary!
