  1. This mini was a long and troubled production for me. I initially decided to make the coat green, but was foiled by my green paints not wanting to stick to the bonesium. After changing to coat to brown, things continued slowly as other projects kept interrupting. Then I got to the eyes. They are tiny on this figure, and very difficult to work with. After many, many tries and touch-up coats I realized I'd destroyed the model's detail. I then decided to try my hand ad modeling with graystuff, and gave her a crude blindfold. My sister hijacked my painting station for the holidays and painted t
  2. With a couple of ongoing projects, it's time for a few models to hustle up and be done already. Corim, here, is playing the part of Edgar d'Sivis, a gnomish bard, in our current Eberron campaign, finished up to "I'm-done-so-get-off-my-table-already quality." He'll get a little static grass added to his base once we buy a new bottle of glue. I had thought for a while I would continue fiddling to smooth out the blends and see what else this guy had left to teach me, but ultimately decided he's already seeing action at the table, so I'd better just finish him up and give him a final
  3. As CSM's current Kickstarter enters the home stretch, I've started on a mini from their previous campaign. Great sculpt by Patrick Keith. A lot of detail in a small space on this one (that's only a 20mm base). Thus far, beyond basic prep work, I've removed the integral base, sculpted a replacement, & pinned him to it. ... and yes, that is his hand perched on his shoulder.
  4. Alright, since people in other topics have been mildly interested, figured I might as well post up the finished figure. I've been trying to write a number of "How-I-Paint" articles for Cool Mini or Not, which morphed into making YouTube videos of the entire painting process. So, should you wish, you can follow my entire paint job ( ). Below you see Elliwyn Heatherlark, Gnome. As a metal figure, I used her as a stand-in for the Kickstarter Bones' version of her. I limited myself to the first paint set that was offered up as an add-on, so there were only 12 paints for me to choose, resulting
  5. This is my four miniature ever. I'm pretty proud of it. Wish I knew how to do better shading. I just wash with ink...and I feel like I'm not very good with that. (It's 03107 - Fynch Brassfrog, Gnome Bard)
  6. So as I keep painting gnomes, here's the next one up. This one is an old TSR gnome thief, when TSR came up with a pretty short-lived line of figures. I actually like the figure, even though the details on the figures aren't so magnificent neither by today's or yesteryear's standards, but it once again is a nice little figure with a lot of personality.
  7. So, does anybody ever paint gnomes with the old monster manual color scheme of wood brown skin and white hair? Just kind of wondering. I just began a six-piece gnome-a-thon, which are four old Julie Guthrie gnomes and two old TSR gnomes. I kind of already gave up on brown skin, but did my two magic using characters with white beards. For them I actually decided to use rosy skin as their base color and worked from there. Just kind of wondering.....
