  1. They're not pretty but they get the point across. It was my first attempt at really pushing myself for speed. I cranked these out in about 4 paint sessions over 2 weeks with a goal of "not terrible table top". My DnD friends are in for a little surprise (many little green surprises).... More shameful and detailed photos can be found on my blog. Cheers, HMP
  2. Not exactly a speed paint, but still completed within only a couple of evenings. I like the way he turned out without all that much effort. I guess I got kinda lucky on this one.
  3. I painted up another ogre matriarch. she is so fun! This is Daisy, aka the Blonde Bombshell!
  4. Anyone know a mini that is curled up in a ball? Preferably, a small female goblin, but small would work. Pretty much need a figure that appears to be rolling down a hill. It'll replicate a unfortunate victim of a cockatrice attack so even a crude sculpt would work here (crude being a figures from yesteryear). thanks for any help on this one.
  5. Since I hadn't seen many other paint jobs go by I thought people might like to see my goblin in power armor. And a blood nebula mercenary for scale.
  6. Drums! Tribal drums from the heart of the deepest jungles. The Goblins wage war. They spider heards will consume everything on its past and, when there's nothing left, they will leave the trees behind to invade the lands of men. Their Chief, riding the giant eight legged spider steed Sleipnir, is ready to lead them to victory. Here I wanted to try a particularly colorful palette to tap into the jungle theme. Maybe in that note it lacks a bit of green... first time I use this colored liquen. Maybe is too much? If you liked it, please consider following my instagram :D
  7. I wanted to create something to enter in the Paint It Pink competition this year, but I only had about a day and a half before ReaperCon. I knew that this wasn't going to win any awards, but it was important to me that I do something. I saw these goblins with their oversized flag and just went for it. The base is one of Secret Weapon's doric columns.
  8. I haven't posted for a bit but I have been painting. I have been painting mostly for D&D but some just because they are fun models. Luckily, the two cross over quite a bit so I get to paint fun models for D&D! I painted up these little goblins. I have the other 6 waiting to be painted. For these, I decided little greenskins. They are so cute!
  9. Delving into the Bones 4 core set, we start by pulling out the 24 bonus goblins that originally were in the Bones 3 core set. And add to them the 12 that I have from the previous kickstarter for a grand total of 36 goblins, 6 each of 6 different sculpts. I actually think I should have a few more of these, as one of the ones I got in the Bones 3 shipment was missing a part, and Reaper sent me a whole pack as a replacement. I wonder where I have put the originals? These are a bit thinner and more weedy sculpts than the Bones 1 and 2 goblins (Reaper makes a lot of Goblins, obviously they sell well), but as such they should fit well with my existing Lord of the Rings Moria Goblin army I am slowly growing for Kings of War. I have based them on my 3D printed 20mm round bases, the Bones 3 ones have a slightly different style as I have since developed the design, making the later types more hollowed out so I can avoid the minis always standing on a hilltop. 36 goblins are quite a handful to deal with all at once. Being nickled and dimed to death, or experiencing death by a thousand cuts as it were, is still dead. Goblin Luggits are the ones with two handed weapons in Kings of War Vanguard Goblin Spitters are the bowmen in Kings of War Vanguard The rest are just Rabble (in Kings of War Vanguard) I generally do not like painting identical minis identically, so I switch things up slightly by painting each set of different sculpts in a different base colour, and randomly do the other bits. I keep some bits the same throughout, such as the weapons, shields, or helmets, and also have used the same strong quickshade ink and a very light drybrush with Team Yankee Maverick Khaki, a mid-to-light beige-ish green on all the minis. This together with the bases give the entire group a cohesive feel, so they appear as a unit while still retaining a sense of individuality, These are really quite quick to paint, just alot of them to do. I did them in between bouts of playing Payday 2 over the last couple of days. 77444 Goblin Warriors + 77445 Goblin Skirmishers Reaper Miniatures, Bones 3 KS 2015 (and Bones 4 KS 2017) Sculpted by Bobby Jackson Bonesium PVC. 20mm bespoke 3D printed round lipped base available from reapermini.com
  10. Howdy, Last of the skirmishers... Kev!
  11. Howdy, Oh, look he's got a sword... Kev!
  12. Here is the last piece of the army: an orc boss to lead the horde. The model is called Grumlok and Gazbag, and I believe it's based on a Warhammer Online model. As an extra, there is also a new ogre tyrant. I picked up this guy to lead my combined horde of greenskins and ogres.
  13. Howdy, Goblins just want to have fun... Kev!
  14. Howdy, It takes all kinds... Kev!
  15. Howdy, Another little guy... Kev!
  16. Howdy, Pesky varmints... Kev!
  17. Hello everyone. As I recently finished an orc squad, I’m now focusing on a goblin one. I’d like to share my progress with you. These will be used for tabletop gaming, in DnD campaigns I recently started DMing. They’re all reaper minis. On these pictures I had just removed the mold lines, glued the separate parts and put the priming on : - 03850: Armored Goblin Spearmen (2) (the smallest one) - 03462: Goblin Warriors (4) - 03777: Cave Goblin Archers (2) - 03838: Sakarat, Goblin Wizard There are a few other ones for which I didn’t take pictures at the beginning. I didn’t want to make them green, so I was going for a yellowish orange for their skin... But as I was wandering through all the paints at my local GW, I stumbled on that “Squig Orange” and decided that was the one. So now they’re almost red : And here are the others that I didn’t think about photographing at the beginning : - 2 copies of 07003: Dungeon Dwellers: Bloodbite Goblins (2) - 14095: Neek, Reven Sergeant These last two already got some spare paint from other minis painting.
  18. Here's a big batch of miniatures, no common theme, that I finished recently. The "Eyedra" assembled as the more generic Hydra option, from "Dark Platypus Games". Thanks to the Reaper Box of Goodwill for this one. A Ral Partha "Dwarf Thief", more suited as a Gnome to modern scale, also acquired from the Box of Goodwill. To celebrate their return to 5E in "Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes", a Giff, 3D printed from designs from the wonderful DM Workshop. A Goblin Monk. I believe he's originally an Orcling from Foundry/Warmonger. Another Goblin, perhaps an Alchemist. A Warhammer Snotling. A Dire Pillbug, originally intended as a Myconid Mount, from "Ganesha Games", in their "Fightin' Fungi" range. Also of note is the backdrop, which are my in progress 3D printed Caverns set from "Printable Scenery"
  19. Have a lot of WIPs at the moment, last night was this Ogre and Goblin (just did the goblin while wash dried on the Ogre)
  20. Howdy, Game pieces need paint too... Kev!
  21. This came in a Reaper blister with Baron Tervin Blackshield. I could not find them in the reaper store, even under the limited models. I painted Baron Tervin about a year ago and finally got to Murgmo, who just looks like the nastiest goblin model I have ever seen. Pity there isn't more of him available.
  22. It has been a while, but I am back with another mini from Reaper. This time its a Blood Stone Gnome, which I tried to paint up as a goblin. Hope you all like it. Any C&c is welcomed.
  23. I batch painted these guys, they were just begging to be done as a group. It took longer than I expected for what amounts to a speedpaint, but I think the unified look was worth the grind. Im not super happy with the colors I chose, but once I had committed there was no going back. I do like the blue goblins, though. This year is shaping up to be "the year of the goblin" with all the goblins I have in my queue, so, their blue skin is nice variation. Blue goblins aren't often seen on the boards, and Ive always liked them (and I seem to recall buglips hating them ). The ogres are great sculpts, some of my favorite generic ogres ever. Im happy to have them. I'm looking forward to fleshing out the ranks a bit more. I plan to add the aquatic ogre, and the half ogre, as well as the new goblin command (all sculpted by Bobby Jackson, I believe). I was pleasantly surprised to see more goblin grunts as special edition minis this month - Ill have to get those as well. Anyhow, enough rambling, enjoy the pics! The whole crew "everyone get in there": "now just the goblins" "the happy couple" "and one of the kids" "OK, two. Cant get enough of them." Comments and critiques are always appreciated. There are 14 bases here (and more minis if you count each gobbo) so if anyone would like some detail shots just holler and Ill happily add more.
  24. I finally felt like I could sit at the painting desk yesterday, so I finished up this little group of 6 ancient goblins from Minifig’s first fantasy (Tolkien) range, sculpted around 1972. I’ve been spending effort on acquiring enough of these figures to stage a game for the past couple of years. Hopefully by 2019 sometime... As with any massed shield bearing troops, most of the effect comes from attention to the shields. Not much to see around back...
  25. I haven't posted much lately. Work and life have been busy. We have been playing Reign of Winter. The GM told me there would be some Snow Goblins. I thought these Bones Gremlins look a lot like Pathfinder Goblins, so I gave them a wintry paint scheme and some snowy bases. C&C Welcome
