  1. I started out with an Egyptian Undead faction in my Lost World but it didn't feel right. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/ After some good advice from @malefactus I decided to move the Eygptians to their own thread. The first one is my Mummy Captain. Now working on a Grenadier Undead Rhino Captive Carrier with a Bones Priestess as Crew
  2. Been staring at the Bones Stone Golems, 77171, and wondering what to do with them. Ran ideas around and round ... starting with the Jade Golem from vulture ... pulled some greens to consider as well as other alternate colors for golems. Onyx, Jade, Rudy, Topaz ... gem stones? Hmmm. Rock. Rock facets. So I start looking about the Interwebs for how to paint the worn rock edging. I pull up stone golem images and I run across: Ben Grimm, The Thing. And I recall how my group refers to miniatures. We always compare them to various media figures, so why not start there.
  3. My stash will arrive today! I haven't done a WIP in a very long time , something I intend to remedy. I am extremely excited to get my hands on my contribution to Bones 5, the Whispering Ghoulsbane. Maybe more so than any prior piece I have made. Seeing as how I don't actually have the mini in had at this moment, Id thought I'd fill this space with some history about the concept. I like to watch reviews for feedback on pieces I've made (and learned a lot). A few review waffled on what the thing was, exactly. Part of me revels in this ambiguity -it is what you want it to b
  4. Presenting the Sewer Golem (and his fishing buddy Cuttleberry) a monster from the game Twisted by Demented Games. Took a surprisingly long time to paint considering it's all washes and drybrushing, but I had fun, that's the main thing. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  5. After assembling the Graveyard Golem I decided I wanted to adjust the warp of the gates on the golem's back. So using two copper staples, I shaped them to an arch and gouged a notch on each wing. Then cut the staple to leave a sharp point. After that, I insert the staple using pliers and force. Next I will secure the wire to the gate posts with superglue and then shape the wire and wing to the desired warp. Once setup I will glue the wire to the remaining gate bars. With the main new bars secured, I will intertwine some floral wire to dress u
  6. Hello everyone, here are pictures of the 60142 Golden Guardian I painted for the Pathfinder painting contest. This model was sculpted by Tim Prow. It was the perfect miniature to practice my nmm.
  7. Got this guy in my Bones Paint & Take Home Survival Kit earlier this year. He was done with lots of sloppy washes and dry brushing. I put flock on its exposed twigs, for decency's sake.
  8. Greetings! Coral Golem from the "Titans Of The Tide" pack in Bones 3. It was quite tricky trying to determine many of the details on this mini but I got there in the end . Some of them, like the little fish & the sea cucumber were a pleasant surprise! There are areas of UV paint on this mini but I'm afraid I can't get very good pics showing it but the following will give some Idea. If anyone knows how to take a successful pic in low light using a UV lamp, pls let me know & I'll give it a go &
  9. Working my way through the backlog of minis I need to photograph and post. I was very intimidated by this guy at first, but it turned out to be lots of fun to paint. C&C welcome.
  10. Bob Ridolfi's Graveflesh Servant (aka Bride of Frankenstein) in Bones. I tried to get some different flesh tones on her various parts, do some bruising at the wounds, and not-exactly-sheer fabric effects. Spent far less time on it than I should have.
  11. I was inspired by limey72 work doing NMM Gold on the enlarged Dwarf over in Works in Progress. I wanted to do a brass like robot or construct, so I pulled out this Golem. I also wanted to try some AK weather effect acrylic pencils I have had for a time. I think it ended with too much brown and ended up wood looking. But it has grown on me, so I will finish up his base and call it done. Hope you like it.
  12. Howdy, Stoned... Kev!
  13. Greetings! I recently bought some Greenstuffworld colourshift paints & eagerly wanting to try them out, I searched through my (huge) Bones backlog for a suitably metallic mini. I grabbed the fantastically ominious Iron Golem from the Bones 4 Stoneskull Expansion & got to work. The blue areas are the colourshift paint, all the other areas are standard paints. I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's not as easy to see the effect on these pics as it is with your own eyes but you can make it out. There's no shading or highlighting on these areas ap
  14. I started this guy last winter sometime so I figured it was time to finish him up. I used the Thanksgiving paint binge to accomplish this. I wanted to imply that he was made from slightly fresher parts, so I used several different flesh tones on him, then washed/drybrushed/weathered him to look a little grungy/rotten. Painted for tabletop; let me know what you think.
  15. I picked up an airbrush kit on sale back in November. It came with two brushes, a compressor, and some other stuff. Here is a picture: The brush that I have been using mostly so far is the Badger Patriot 105. I say mostly because I have sprayed paint through it more than once, lol. I started with the bottom fed one (the 350) for one sitting of like 30 minutes, then tried another sitting with the 105 for like 30 minutes. I have since used the 105 for something like three sittings of 30-60 minutes. My total airbrush experience is something like 2.5 hours
  16. Just a quick paint job I did a few months back. I am still trying to learn True Metallic Metal technique. Based on the pictures, I still have learning left to do. There are some dilute black, blue, brown, and flesh colored washes in there. His close up of his face reminds me of Ultron. He is set to be a construct for our Reign of Winter Pathfinder campaign. Enjoy. C&C Welcome, as well as any advice or recipes for TMM would be appreciated.
  17. Thought this guy would be a fun, quick paint, but turned into a tedious, long pain. Definitely not my best work but was trying new things mainly with metallics and OSL. As I went along, there were some things I wanted to experiment with so I did that at the expense of details, smooth highlights, etc. Really only intended it to be seen from the front (first pic), but as soon as I took pictures a thousand things popped up I could do better. Anyway, here you go, and if you would like to tell me how you’d do it with these color light sources, please do.
  18. Hi all, Here is my take on the Graveyard Golem that came with the Crypt expansion in Bones 3. I tried to give its eyes an eerie glow to show what evil animates it and it also matches the glow in painted on the runes inside the crypt. (http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/77887-crypt-graveyard-expansion/)
  19. Another Bones 1 figure; painted to a tabletop level. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking!
  20. Hello all, i just thought i'd post this up as i was excited to see it arrive in the post today: Mr Stitches the Golem and Cat the Cat at a total of 50mm It's exactly as it arrived out of the box from Shapeways (in the extreme detail material)and cost a total of, i think $35 inc. shipping. I haven't cleaned it or anything and i realise that it's not the easiest to see but i just wanted to pop it up here anyway!
  21. Hello all! I'm really trying to learn about sculpting for miniatures and here's my current project: It's a Golem from artist Chris Walton It's just at the Armature phase right now but i've started to block in my major shape masses. I'll post that when i get a bit further. Any help/suggestions/direction on how to make this more viable for print at around 30mm would be most appreciated! All the best, Andrew Cothill
  22. Hey all, DMAgamus here. It was the extra spoopy time of year again, and I always put on a special game to celebrate. WHat better thing to pain, then, than pieces from the graveyard expansion of bones 3. I present to you, the crypt at the edge of the wilds! The Halloweenies! ANd their minion, Pete the Grave Golem! Also, I've added on pics of the full board, for fun. It was a great time had by all. Album link:Halloween Painting and Set Up
  23. YAY! Clearance items begotten from Game Kastle and I managed to find not one but TWO of the minis from my wishlist in their clearance!! WOOOHOOO! HERALD OF BLOOD This golem or construct of the gnomes from deep within the world is brilliantly painted by Martin Jones in the Reaper Catalog: Painted by Martin Jones And while I didn't want his work to influence mine I will be doing at least two things the same: A. Glowing Runes and Eyes B. Not Stone Spikes I assembled this gentleman first with the idea of "ful
