I don't get to be a player as much as a DM. So, when I do get to play, I want to spend a little extra effort on my figure for my own PC. This is the situation for this Goldar. He is a half-orc fire specialized sorcerer, so he get's to use a Greataxe and plays a little like a one-trick pony with his fire spells. I envisioned him as very gray skinned. I tried to accomplish a green shadow blending up to gray highlights. I mixed MSP Stone Gray and Highland Moss, then highlighting with Weathered Stone. I think it just ended up as a pale green, but it is still interesting. There were glazes of GW green and red washes in the shadows. I think it would make a good zombie or ghoul flesh recipe. I tried to give a little life to his face with a few layers of thinned flesh glaze on the nose and cheeks, but it doesn't really show in the photos. His face was a tad miscast, with a flat nose and odd right cheek. The backstory of the character describes ritual branding and tattoos all over his body. I thought that would end up taking the figure toward a Goliath, so I avoided it. Instead, I put a little flame on his shoulder pad. I wanted to read as raised embossed metal, but I think it just looks like a decal. As I thought of ways to add detail, I decided to put runes on his skirt. My go-to for runes are the variant of FUTHARK used in the Ultima games. In this case, Vas Flam, which was the recipe for the fireball spell! I liked it enough, I put it on the axe. I can imagine a smart sorcerer would figure out a way to turn his skirt into a scroll. I'll see if my DM will let me do it ;) I had to re-do the armored legs and axe nmm a few times. The first time I tried the Twilight Blue triad, and didn't like it. Then I tried the Stone Gray triad, and worried it was too close to his skin. So I ended up mixing White and Black into Cloudy Gray. It ended up a little rushed. The scratches are all just painted on, a decision I made at the last minute (I tend to hate risking botching up a paint job that I'm happy with, and getting the metals to that point were almost enough deterrent to do it). Hi everyone. Here is a mini I have been working on for several weeks. Lately, I am lucky to be able to paint a little every day. Unfortunately, it is only for 5-15 minutes at a time. This figure is part of my growing batch of options for my GM running us through the Pathfinder Adventure Path, Reign of Winter. I always thought blue, white, and gold were good colors together. It is popular in many heraldic devices. I am most happy with this figure in terms of the following: The freehand wood grain of the axe, the outcome of the gold NMM on the belt buckle/hardware in front. Also, getting his eyes right in the recesses of his helmet. What I am least happy with is the runes along the white part of the tabard trim. The area is too small to work with to really get good darklining around each rune, so they are a little indistinct. Also, I tried to make each one its own independent polished gold SENMM. I don't think it turned out too well, because it's just too small an area for each piece. I tried it on the scabbard as well, which worked a little better. But, this is the most confusing part of highly polished SENMM: Do multiple pieces at different heights have their own horizon line? I painted it as if they do, but am not sure that's realistic... Also, the transition of the cow horns on his helmet is a little washed out in the photo, but also very subtle in hand. Finally, one additional comment. I have seen a lot of posts about this figure comparing it to the metal version, and bemoaning a lack of detail in the BONES version. I really tried to bring out the life of this BONES model, because I personally feel that the sculpt is great, and the translation to BONES is very good. So, without further ado, here is my version of Sigurd, Viking, BONES 77399. Please provide C&C, especially as it pertains to the issues I brought up above. Thank you.

Yeah, I know, I should actually finish some of my WIP threads before starting more, but this guy was just too cool! Plus, I wanted to know if Enigma minis are fun to paint, so I can buy some more. I give you Primus Death:- No major assembly issues, the cover for his tummy furnace didn't fit too well but think I did an okay job filling the gaps. He's also supposed to have a chain attaching his wrist to his axe, but I don't think the figure loses anything in its absence (I could glue it to my fingers, but not to the mini). At the moment he is just undercoated and washed in brown (I've managed to get out of the habit of doing this to all my minis, but I really wanted to read the inscription on his tombstone).
