  1. One of a series of "little folk" I have had on my desk for ages. Actually finished the painting last year but it took me this long to complete the base. He looks like he just heard a suspicious noise down a dark alley.
  2. I was digging through some stuff and found these two guys...the first two minis that I ever painted! They're not my best work, (obviously), but it's always fun to see older stuff. Not so much a "show off" thread as it is a trip down memory lane. 🙂 By the way, I know we've got some metal scholars here. Can anyone identify the exact name of either one of these guys? I got them from a buddy, so I have no idea what they were originally called. Like I said in the title, I'm 99% sure they're Ral Partha (probably 80's, if I had to guess). Edit: turns out, they're actually from Grenadier. Thanks, Chaoswolf!
  3. This guy's about as generic as they get, but he reminded me of the classic Dark Tower game piece figures (so I instantly became a fan of him). His head is waaaay too small, though. For his color scheme, I was inspired by Dirk the Daring from Dragon's Lair (the freehand design on the shield is meant to be kind of an abstract representation of Dirk's backpack, since this mini didn't have a pack of his own).
  4. 3D printed design from Primeval Clash, printed on my Elegoo Mars. Flamefin and Handler ( Dimetrodon and Egyptian Guard) Part of my Shifting Sands Project. WIP here: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79372-shifting-sands-glitterwolf-paints-egyptian-undead/page/20/#comments Posing on my Temple of Apophis Photobackdrop Board. ***************** Usually when an expedition searches for ancient sites they don't expect those sites to be still inhabited by the original owners. Even less so they expect to encounter a beast from beyond time that these people seem to use as guard dogs.
  5. Hello, this is my first post on the reaper forums. I wanted to share my most recently painted miniature, the Ogre Guard sculpted by Bobby Jackson. The base is made out of a 74036: 2" Round Base, some apoxie sculpt for the rocks, green flocking and some army painter grass tufts. I picked this figure because while he is intimidating, he hasn't started attacking yet. This monster fits the look of both wild beast or gentle giant.
  6. Nice and simple sculpt. Here the main issue was to paint his musculature/skin. A bit of crimson on his nose gives us a hint of what he may have on the barrel on his waist.
  7. Finished this guy the other day. I am happy with how the face turned out.:
  8. This one took a long time to complete. I claimed it finished two times, but got more feedback. Fixed a little here, added a little there.. And as they say; All good things are three. :)
  9. First tank I've ever painted. Sort of happy with how it turned out. The wings/skull symbols are made from clay.:
  10. Got this in a trade. The modifications are done by a friend. I completed the paint job.: Barrel was drilled after the pics were taken. :)
  11. Probably won't get around to actually putting paint to pvc until later this week as I have some midterms early this week. But I took an hour to clean these guys up and sketch out some ideas. These spearmen will be representing the members of the city guard (which is really just part of the army) of an Elven city in my homebrew 5e campaign. The elves have extreme reverence for the Sun and Moon and consider them driving forces of nature and thus very powerful. Hence the design on the shield. I think I might be biting off more than I can chew, thinking I'll be able to freehand this, but I'm up for a challenge. Areas in blue (which is basically just the pants and the scarf/padded arming cap) will actually be a pretty basic creamy linen offwhite. Debating for the shield whether I want to do the design in silver and gold, or simply yellow and gray, would love to hear other people's thoughts on that. My goal with this project is going to be to paint everything but the face and shield as quickly as possible and spend a decent amount of time on the face/eyes and a good deal on the shields. edit: grammar
  12. So I bought minis for characters I have in a written rp that has literally zero use for minis. I bought them though, simply because I like to have little representations of my characters. This is one of said characters, and her name is Shana Holt. She is hopelessly in love with a guard captain, who belongs to Rob, called Simone, and she aspires to be noticed by her, to the point of a little bit odd. Janan, of course, is stood on a dragon head, but Shana is no dragon slayer, she's just a city guard - so Drifter helped me out by trimming the dragon head away from her foot, and then she got rebased. She's got a nice genuine pebble there to rest her foot upon, and her sword has resisted my numerous attempts to sort it the hell out and still has a little bend in it, but murgh. And here's a bonus Instagrammed photo. Yar. So her base is a pebble and some green stuff, savaged with the rear end of one of my paintbrushes. Her paints... Oh gawd. Citadel: -Khorne Red -Evil Sunz Scarlet -Bloodletter Glaze -Kislev Flesh -Flayed One Flesh -Runelord Brass -Nuln Oil -Seraphim Sepia -Loren Forest -Elysian Green -Ushabti Bone P3: -Menoth White Highlight -Thamar Black -Bloodtracker Brown -Umbral Umber -Cold Steel
  13. Since my account crash I've posted my work again, I had to make new pics from this one. When I met my girlfriend I had Odin, A Boxer Dog. ( I always have Boxers, their playful, clownesc behaviour appeals to me. Real family dogs but make no mistake they protect their family). Well her daughters ( now my stephdaughters, I feel like they are my own) liked him very much. Especially the youngest who was like 9 at the time, Odin was 8. He jumped through hoops for her, searched for perfum ridden tissues she hid in the garden. They were big friends. The oldest too, but she had the closest connection. So I painted up Garr as Odin, cut the tail. Even the shield got a camo scheme, cause Odin wore gear like that sometimes. she loved is and it is still in her room. Then came 2011, a bad year. First my father died. So sad. some 4 months later Odin hid in the garden. Wouldn't eat or play. Now when a boxer does that, you're too late. They are very tough guys and almost never show pain, when they do it is serious and when they hide they are almost done for. So the vet diagnosed a belly full of cancer. I took him home, let the girls say goodbye and then that night we let him go. The youngest still owns his collar and photo, even though we have a new Boxer since 2013 ( Brutus, this time a white one with a big brown/black spot on the left side of his head. This time the oldest has the closest connection, he sleeps on her on the couch like a big baby). So as a tribute to Odin and the love humans and dogs can feel for each other I give you ODIN. No one can take away the friendship we shared.
  14. My obsession with Warlord dwarves continues with Jason Wiebe's Kragmarr Guard. Like this guy a lot, pretty simple and dwarfy. Kept with my usual dwarf-soldier-type blue. Got a little carried away with the shield, heh, but figured I might as well have some fun. Thanks for looking!
  15. Wow, been a couple of weeks since I have been on and there are so many really nice minis posted. I've been on an Egyptian kick lately and ready to add this one to my growing theme set. Hope you like.
