Seriously people - I have no idea. Who was this lady again? While Sophie was drying I started to paint her and actually made pretty good progress so far. Tried to get back to my former painting style. Not entirely happy, but happy enough to keep going. If anyone knows what the name of this model is - tell me. I'd be grateful enough to tell her that you knew what I didn't.

Presenting Steampunk Dorothy (with Mecha-Toto) from Guild of Harmony Miniatures, she's got a WIP thread here. She's a mini that has thwarted several previous attempts to be painted, so to finally get her finished and do a pretty good job of it (IMO) feels great. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

An old foe returns! This is about the sixth time I've tried painting this mini (well not this mini, this is Dorothy 2, original Dorothy was starting to lose a bit of definition having had the paint scrubbed off her so many times), and I'm determined to get her finished finally. So far:- I've got her skin finished, 1:1 Vallejo Flat Flesh/ Vallejo Rosy Skin, Fleshshade Wash, 1:1 Flat Flesh/ Rosy Skin, 1:1:1 Flat Flesh/ Rosy Skin/ Light Flesh. She's practically microscopic compared to all the Games Workshop stuff I've been working on lately, so I'm taking things very slowly.

From my Through the Looking Glass WIP thread I bring you Steampunk Alice:- Decent photography continues to elude me Had super elaborate basing plans for this one, but they fell apart mainly because I was too cheap to buy a tiny mirror or frame (they probably would've fallen apart any ways, but I will never know now). So I fell back on my usual cork based ruins, though hopefully the chessboard pattern gives off enough Wonderland vibes. On the plus side, I'm really pleased with her hair and I didn't do too terrible a job painting her apron white. As always, any comments or criticisms are most appreciated.

Another day, another new WIP thread (at least I finished one this time). Having a go at my Guild of Harmony steampunk set, Dorothy still intimidates me so I'm starting with Alice:- Her feet were way too tiny to pin, so it's gone up the back of her dress (no idea how I'm going to attach her to a base, but that's a problem for future Aku-chan to solve). First attempt to paint her face didn't go very well (her eyes are tiny, it's going to be a theme with this one I think), after a scrub down the second attempt went better:- Skin is Vallejo Flat Flesh, given a Flesh Shade Wash and highlighted with Flat Flesh and 1:1 Flat Flesh/Linen White, with Sapphire Blue eyes and Splattered Crimson lips. I'm using the Blonde 'Disney Alice' colour scheme, I can still only do dirty blonde though but it does seem to work well with whatever that hairstyle is. It's a base of Oiled Leather, then a coat of Palomino Gold (I had to cheat and drybrush some of it), a Sepia Wash then another coat of Palomino Gold.

One of my December painting goals was to paint a miniature from a manufacturer that I hadn't yet painted anything from. Looking through my stockpile of 20 miniatures I chose Phoenicia, an arcane spellcaster from Guild of Harmony. While I was at it, I decided to take care of another painting goal - working on glow effects. The stone she is standing on already has some engravings, but for a little something more I reached into my Bag o Crap and pulled out one of the 25mm bases that had some arcane looking runes already carved on. Now that she's pretty well done I can say that my main complaint with the sculpt is that her lower arm is a PITA to work around. She has those tiny little straps on her side as well as a couple of items that'll have you holding her upside down and turned at a 35o angle just to reach them. I also ran into a problem I haven't had before where I guess I sprayed too much sealer on the backside of her skirt. I'll let it sit overnight and see what I can do with it tomorrow. I also snapped a pic under some different lighting so the white isn't so washed out. A WIP for anyone interested.

Battle of the Sith Diorama Project Figures: Zargun, Assassin from Guild of Harmony with Karick-Dar's right hand and Darth Vader from West End Games Star Wars Miniatures Since this is a Sci-fi entry and I'm going to go pretty in-depth with my work here, I decided that it needs its own WIP thread. First off is the theme for my little diorama, it is going to be Darth Vader vs his upstart apprentice (Darth Malice). Here are the primed figures. I found a window to the Emperor's Throne Room on the Deathstar and resized it to be the right size for this scale. After cutting out the picture's windows over plasticard, I then used a pen and traced in the areas which I'll need to cut out with a sharp hobby knife. This is where I'm at right now as I'm writing this. The plan is going to be to get the windows cut out, then find some thicker clear plastic to put behind the plasticard as well as a small picture of some Empire ships and stars. I will also construct the throne itself to go before the window such as this: As I go through, I'd appreciate comments and critiques to try to get it looking really good for the competition here. Thanks!

Figure: Karick-Dar, Apprentice / Zargun, Assassin (body/arm) Sculptor: Sebastian Archer Manufacturer: Guild of Harmony Scale: 30mm Material: White Metal WIP Thread if you are interested For my purposes, this is Sansulves the Bladebound/Kensai Magus who I painted up for one of the guys who I play Pathfinder with. Sansulves is a CN Tiefling and I was asked to paint him up in black/red with pale skin and red eyes. I have to say I really struggled with the face on him, the shadows and the pale color were hard for me to get to where I was actually happy enough with them. Without further ado, I present my finished project. Comments and Critiques are welcomed, thank you for looking!

Any of you that have played through the original set of Eberron modules for D&D 3.5 may recall Muroni, the draconic prophetess that meets the party in Xen'drik. My current campaign began with those modules (the first three, anyway...I understand there were more, but I never saw them and was frankly tired of running the modules by the time we got through the third one), and the original Muroni was played by the D&D PPM Evermeet Wizard, a fun mini with golden skin, pink robes and big hair. When I knew I was going to bring Muroni back later in the campaign, I realized that I had another mini that would fit a simlar description, given the right colors: Guild of Harmony's Phoenicia. It's a mini I've been looking forward to painting for a long time, and the color scheme I had in mind promised to be pretty fun. On this mini, I fought against a crappy primer coat the whole way; it was the end of a spraycan, and it was just a little too cold, or too humid, or too dry, or something, and I ended up with a little bit too much tooth from the primer. And of course I decided to soldier on, rather than strip the primer and brush prime. Foolish me. Despite the primer problem, she looks good at arm's length, and I'm very happy with many of the things I set out to do: A strong directional lighting scheme (so lots of shadow on her left side, lots of light on her right), some bright colors that I don't usually deal with, and a bit of transparency on her stockings. She's also the first model I've really spent a lot of time looking at a color wheel for everything. C&C welcome, as always.

I believe this is my 23rd miniature (I think? My brain's fuzzy. I blame the goblin.) Overall I'm happy with the results, though his little toothy maw came out a little funny. I don't know if I over clumped some paint early on, but it seemed like he lost the toothy look that the model has on the product page. Constructive criticism welcome!
